Today I played 9 (so far) and cashed 3 of them for $0.95
Edit: Played 11, cashed 5 for $1.19
(I also reached day 2 of another one -- but with a v short stack. Had I known were were that close to the cut-off, I would have punted and used another ticket if I lost)

One of the tricks is desperation equity.
Be patient. The opportunity will come, and when it doesn't just win your bust-out hand...

I also played some PLO8 5 while the tournaments were running...
A typical (for me) U-shaped session graph, with a flat red line

PLO 8 is tough, because to win big, you need to win both the hi pot and lo pot.
Most wins today were in the $0.02 - $0.90 range, but three of 'em were about 1/2 buy-in each.

This was the most satisfying...

I saw you will play $500.000 King Kamikaze FR - Day 2 tonight. Seeing your freeroll results, I hope we won't play on the same table.

Good luck! :f_drink:

Best of luck!
I'm actually rather short stacked in that tournament -- hoping for some desperation equity!

Average is 32,500 I have about 1/4 that.
8880 remaining, 5,000 paid.

$50 min cash, 50K up top.
Not bad for a freeroll

Whew! Made it!

And indeed desperation equity was a factor
I got one walk -- which extended my ability to coast to the money.
Of the other 46 hands, I voluntarily entered 4 other times -- and won 3 of them.
88 held vs AK suited
AKs vs AKo ended in a split -- which added to my stack slightly.
I busted out with A2o in EP with 2.5 BB left and encountered another A2 and an A8 -- I was hoping for a 3-way chop, but not today.

This hand was significant:
Getting the fold from the big stack set me up -- I was then 3000th of 6000 with 5000 paid

I did get πŸ” at one point, and folded AKo with about 250 to go to the money.
Way to many big stacks behind me, and I had just read https://www.pokerstrategy.com/news/content/ICM-in-five-minutes_119774/

New Record!

See previous post for how that happened.
Besides the $50 win I had two other significant cashes for a total of 5.30
ITM of 100% for today.

I realized today that by posting my updates on Monday, I miss the bankroll challenge cutoff.
So this week will be a short one, and include Monday to Saturday.

The results for the week ending October 3 are here: https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?postid=3269583#post3269583

Graph Time

It has been a while since I posted the entire graph...
We started 3 years ago with 20 cents

I've started to add some NL 10 to the mix -- a little leery about this, since I don't know hold'em very well, but we'll just play tight and see how it goes.
888 has its fair share of maniacs -- hopefully some of them will spew some my way...

I remember when you started the challenge, it's nice to see you approaching $ 1,000, I wish you luck. I returned to poker after a long break, as 888 can no longer be played from Serbia, I switched to GG, ACR and YA. To brag that I arrived from 0 to a total of 55$ in 2 weeks.

My idea when I first started is that I would play freerolls until I reached $50 then switch to NL 2 and so on upwards
That isn't how it worked out though.

I avoid cash games, especially NL2, you can find all kinds of players, especially 888. I play spin & gold 0.25$ on GG ... While I'm still sticking to freeroll in the other two rooms, but I'll start some micro mtt

In 22 hands I had entered 0 pots -- I played one hand that was limped to me in the BB and got one walk

Then this:

So cashed one tier up from the bottom

Decent Cash today

I could have done better, but I called off a UTG shove just short of the FT

Results for the week posted to the reporting thread...
https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?postid=3270803#post3270803

I found that today's tournament took forever.
Although no-one replied in this thread: https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?postid=3270123#post3270123
I found that today over and over people were timing out or nearly timing out each street.
That meant that each hand took almost a minute per street -- worse if it was multi-way.

If this keeps up I may have to play elsewhere...

Horrible Day!

Missed most freerolls, took a small hit playing PLO8

I had thought that I was getting suckout after suckout, but the graph says I was the one that sucked out...
The rest of the time, I was ahead of EV

Reasonable Day plus decent bonus

The promotion was "hand of the day" -- but I have no idea what hand that was
But it paid 10 bucks, so cool

Current BR 757.30 -- <<< A new record

This is sort of unknown territory for me -- usually when I hit a new record, I go on a downswing.[1]
If you check the graph, you'll see that almost every peak is followed by a sharp drop.

[1] In before downswing. I don't mind the drops, as long as they continue to be followed by a long crawl upwards

Not a Bad Week

helped out by $11 worth of cash rewards.

The weeks official report is here -- https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?postid=3272479#post3272479
The astute among you will realize I earned precisely 31 cents all week -- the rest was from the rewards.

Note: Not complaining

Off to a Decent Start this week

I totally misjudged opponents range here -- I thought that the raise was AA, but I have decent equity, and drawing to nut flushes, Broadways and nut low.

Pacific Poker - $0.05 PL Hi/Lo - Omaha Hi/Lo - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

UTG: 16.2 BB
MP: 78 BB
Hero (CO): 103.6 BB
BTN: 41.6 BB
SB: 57.8 BB
BB: 60.8 BB

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has T♣:2♥:K♠:A♣:

fold, MP calls 1 BB, Hero raises to 2.4 BB, BTN raises to 9.6 BB, fold, fold, MP calls 8.6 BB, Hero calls 7.2 BB <<< A cold 3Bet at this level is so often AAxx

Flop: (30.2 BB, 3 players) 4♠:T♥:2♣:
MP checks, Hero checks, BTN bets 30.2 BB, fold, Hero calls 30.2 BB <<< although my low hand is counterfeited, the two pair can often hold against AAxx especially if opponent tends to over play them
