I always listen to music when I'm at my pc. So, evidently, I also listen to music while playing poker. It's become such a habit that I feel like something's missing when there's no music. Usually I also listen to my iPod when playing live. I experimented a lot with different genres, and so far I prefer future synthpop for regular sessions. Vocal trance sounds similar, but it doesn't give me the same rhythmic feeling of immersion when I'm fully concentrating on my session. Space/ambient is very calming, especially combined with candles (yeah, RL candles) it really boosts up tilt resistance. For me at least. If I'm really on heavy tilt, I like listening to thrash/nu metal to mentally fend off my aggression into the music. 2-3 tracks are usually enough.

Rap: Jay-z, Kanye
Rock: Killers, Death Cab For Cutie, Foos

Quite a strange thread. I mean, you listen to the music you like on your free time, but listen to some kind of different music during poker session? :)
I listen to electronic music: drum and bass, house. Trance makes me laugh.

Been listening to ETN.FM (internet radio) which tends to play all the good trance, if I am not listening to that, I am listening to some kind of electronic music.

Without listening to music, I tend to become bored and end up doing things that are -ev.

I almost always listen to music.

Usually either Metal or Drum n Bass.

Although I have to say I once did a session with Dizzee Rascal chattering away that was particularly +EV. I felt rather gangster if I do say so myself.

Edit: I managed to refrain myself from spending all my cash on drugs, guns and girls after though!

The only music that makes my game more +ev is soundtrack from rounders :f_love:

music is -EV imo. unless its some quiet nice background music... otherwise, it just distracts you. even if you dont get distracted, you could turn off the music and add +2 tables or whatever

I usually listen jazz & funk music as a background for my poker A game and it helps a lot. :-)

It depends on situation

when im playing rebuys tournaments or when im playing some live tourney , id listen my poker set list(rock, jazz, eletronic, metal even j-music and country XD), in first hour, then after that turn it off... its distracting.

when im playing fixed holdem/stud small stakes (praticing) , i listen to it all the time.

when im playing massive tabling SnG's , id listen all the time as well

but if i want to play more focused, without any mind scripts , id turn off the music =[

I think listening to music is +++EV ...but it must be the right kind of music ..... best kind is chillout music (no catchy lyrics that you'l be singing along to and not concentrating enough) I use chillout music (preferbly through headphones ) as a way to block out the rest of the world and get me totally in the zone to make the best decisions (destraction free) +++EV imo

Thanks for the url, that's a pretty good station.

I bet you would like a group called Symbiosis . They do slow progressive psytrance - also some D&B.

Check out ablums 'Clandestine Electronic Subculture' and 'Meta'. They have a lot of other great and rare tracks via torrents that I can't find anywhere else except rare vinyl stores...

Best

LOL at the 80s hits, and I do remember them! They would make me tilt for sure.

Tiesto podcast for me...makes me focus for some reason.

Just a different approach if anyone's interested: :)

Long story short: The best music for your brain, which helps to relax, yet be more alert, be opened to information and understand it best and so on, is beat per second Baroque music. It helps you to go to alpha-brainwave length. (It is scientifically proven), which puts you in a state of high awareness and focus. If you want more info, google it or read any book, which teaches meditation, development of your brain, memory etc.

I'm not saying that you should sit like a buddhist monk behind your computer and meditate while playing poker , just if you listen to baroque music, whatever you do daily, it naturally helps to concentrate on whatever you are doing.

I dont always listen to baroque music, but its a very very good alternative. I just listen to whatever makes me feel good and is as simple and pure as possible. Clean sounds with high notes (high notes are great for the brain - more alert). I love metal , but I avoid while playing poker, because it has the opposite destructive and distracting influence on your senses.

This is not a beat per second, this is just awesome.

And simple and genius:

Hope this helpes
