You could get her to grind as well, then you could get in 4h/month
(is that 2 hands per month, or 2 hours)

When we moved once we rented out our house for seven years, always thinking we would go back to it.
In the whole 7 years we lost money. The house had lost value in that time as well.
Even so, having the renters pay the mortgage made it come out nearly even in the end.

Personally, I've only met a few players who could do this from poker alone. Everyone else has a JOB

In April of this year we will have been married 42 years — but may of this year marks 50 years since we first met

ok im quite happy to hear that. we are not together anymore for a year already but we love each other a lot. our older kid is 5 years and the other is 3 years. both are boys... so you know, this chaotic mess is taking over our life...

It is fun, I think having my mind in a place of "I am going to have fun playing" helps better than "I am going to win today". The only problem I am encountering with taking it so light is I slack off with study, cause study makes it seem so serious. But seriously, I hope to see the pyramids of Las Vegas with all the money I had fun winning from idiots
I 2015 we took a "repo cruise" from Vancouver to San Diego.
Once the cruise and flight home were paid for, we had a really crappy amount of spending money.
Then I remembered my poker bankroll — so I withdrew all my PokerStars roll except for a bit of seed money and we had a great time.
Before I played poker I played other games online — most notably Hearts and Backgammon — but all of that was time down the drain.
At least with poker I get to win some.
I could never make a living at it though...

I hope to get sooo deep and mysterious with the game that it takes me to another level of living... I think it is meant for self-improvement in a way...
I find it funny that the level of skill you have somehow collected never vanishes, no matter what your bankroll is... let's say I have zero bankroll. I still have the same level of skill... at the moment I find it weird... I don't even wish to play higher. When I was younger I wanted to climb up and see what's possible, learning along the way. Now I'm more like... careful maybe... Like a father who knows priorities better. I wouldn't say I'm worse skill-wise. I think I am actually better skill-wise. But the thing is I don't get so involved anymore with poker... it's like you know other priorities are more important or something. I see people deep in the online poker world and I'm like looking at them, thinking, how much do I even wish to be that? I'm like quite detached from the career. I don't know why maybe this is what just it is for me at the moment, comes with age or something. It's almost like I am 100% ready to do something completely different with my life. Poker is a game that develops you mentally. My mindset has somehow shifted to a place where the reality is different. I no longer see "money" where I saw "money" before, I now see people talking about deep aspects of the same game there. And I start to believe they are more correct. I mean good pros who coach higher, they would still tell me something: "yup, it's just a game"... it's like they are very detached, and it's not about money for them. It gets so deep and philosophical that I start to doubt and question life. I think it's a good thing. Like let's say I win 50k tomorrow. I would still be the same shitty person, right? Get what I mean? It gets that deep and the game itself is scary by the way...
Played 10min after a long two-week break or something. It's funny how it works the whole thing
Man this is so interesting. Haven't played a single hand for a very long time. I only played for cents after I went pro few months ago. BR going from $100 to $250 back to $50. (not losing, but withdrawing). Yet I feel I'm so good at how I handle it. How I handle my pro career. You might laugh and say, this is a fool. He has no clue. Look at Ivey. The thing is, it is correct to look at Ivey. But, you need your own approach. Like the coach told me. You build your own individual unique career.
And it is amazing where this has led me! Beginners are like: I want money. Pros are after something else. It is ridiculous, almost unbelievable how it goes. Like I cannot even talk about that I'm a poker pro. People would ask: what, you don't even make money, that's not a solid work.
Yet: build your own career what's suitable for you. I'm a pro cause I have decided so. I so feel it. I give my best. Honestly. Man I so feel, im in better shape than the break-even midstakes grinders who earn a lot but curse and hate the game. I love the game. You might argue and say it is not true. I feel for me it is true.
The coach told me right into my face: it is not about getting x amount of $$$$. It is about "becoming a better person". This is really something new. I never looked it that way. I feel it is true. Health priorities and everything. If you really have a professional mindset, why would you kill your eyes being unhappy grinding 4 hours in a row. This is not healthy and in a way, it is not "professional".
I'm so excited talking about my career. Interesting how it is. How it is this way. Thanks all. Thanks PokerStrategy. Interesting game... we can go really far with it...
So I went back to work. I do special needs child care and they send me to kindergarten which is full of mentally "disabled" children. The workers there are quite unique. My task is to help a boy who doesn't cooperate with the teacher's day plan and just wants to play... he is very easily agitated and then he starts to scream and cry. I hope I don't get fired by the teachers cause this boy just doesn't cooperate the way they wish...
Pokerwise I'm sooo happy. I'm not playing but I feel really enthusiastic, good about it. In the past I was so greedy now I'm more about "beauty of the game" and good energy.

I have an autistic grandson. He is actually quite bright, and has tremendous insight, but doesn't handle things well that are sudden, or unusual. I admire those that can work with such people every day. Once we got to understand him, and his needs, our grandson was easy to live with, and is quite a delight really.
