Stars Coins in Reward Chests

Hi all,

Is it me or does one not get any more stars coins when opening chests? I am on silver level and all last 3 chests contained $5 and no coins - is it just me?

Also, if chests no longer contain coins, how does one get them? Will they eventually be removed? What about the Deal Jackpot?

Thanks!

Hi, I'd be more then happy with $5 then some pretty useless coins.

I'm sure chests still contain coins too and I don't think they will be removed soon. Can't tell you anything about the deal jackpot but I know there are some threads about it if you search for it.

I'm also on silver, and over the last 4 chests I've coins only once — and that was 100 coins plus a $4 ticket for a total of $5.00 reward.
When I was on gold level I got $20 worth of coins (2000) both times)
Before that, for my 7 silver chests I got 500 coins three times, $5 cash twice and twice split between coins and cash.

So I'm guessing it is randomized somehow

The chests seem to pay out as a combination of cash and StarsCoins, but always to the same equivalent value. So a $20 chest might be $20 cash, $15 cash and 500 coins, or 2,000 coins, etc.

The best use of them is for the cash rebates in the store, the lowest level of which is $10 for 1,000 coins. Effectively, you get the same cash reward, but might need to save up a couple of coin awards before doing so to hit the minimum redemption level.

Higher cash rebates are also available in the store, but there's no benefit to them in terms of redemption rate, as all equate to 100 coins = $1.

Save a few coins for "The Deal" — if it is available in your area. Once the jackpot gets to 100K if you play it every 12 hours, you'll get a share of half the jackpot when it drops. The payoff is typically 3 to 7 cents per coin.
When it pays off, you can go back to accumulating them.
Occasionally, you can even win some coins in the process.

I think it's a little bit random as well, but it's for me a while back when I won a chest thanks to the new rules in the Netherlands.

I cleared one of the 37,500 point chests yesterday. I got $50 cash and 2,500 StarsCoins, which I immediately credited in the store for $25. The $75 total value of the chest was known in advance, but the split of the awards is not until opened.

Do you turn them in for cash or tickets?
I've always chosen tickets, since they can become much more if you place in the money in the tournament.

Cash for me, especially within the bankroll challenge. I can still use the cash to enter tournaments, and there's no incentive, in terms of added value per point, in buying tickets directly.

Does anyone knows how the 40% rakeback system works?
I used to have it but after the update they keep giving me small rewards each day. On sports and casino.
I have never used those tickets, is there a way to enter into the 40% rakeback race again?

Those tickets are in addition to the 40% rakeback ones.

I don't know how to get in to the 40% challenges

As far as I was aware, it's open to everyone. I only started playing at Stars again in the middle of last year, and only putting in any regular volume from September, but I'm hardly a high-roller as far as rake generation goes.

It's a challenge called the Monthly Poker Challenge that you opt into at the start of each month (there's also an email that comes out confirming it). The actual challenge varies slightly from month to month, but it's basically a redemption target that clears a chest (separate to the chests that fill at the top of the screen, which are additional to this). The earliest ones could be repeated upto 5 times in the month, but the last couple can only be cleared twice (and I won't get close to repeating the January one, as I'm only going to clear it for the first time today).

NB: I've just found some info on it and it's available to everyone in the silver tier or higher. This is the 3rd of 6 tiers in their chest system, so it requires some play to qualify for it, although the tier system itself is a separate rakeback programme. The blue (333 points per chest) and bronze (935 points per chest) levels were pretty easy to clear playing microstakes PLO Zoom, and any sort of regular play will enable you to maintain a level, as it works on a rolling 28 day cycle to clear one chest. NLHE would be a bit more of a grind, but hardly onerous playing Zoom tables.

My bankroll challenge has relied heavily on the various promotions to get off the ground, as I'm essentially targetting break-even play in the early stages (and haven't hit it as yet!)

I must say Stars have done a good job to re-ignite action on the ZOOM tables with the daily leaderboard system (now even improved with 3 attempts) so traffic has been way better and more fish appeared too. And the ZOOM tables help with the monthly poker challenge too so it's a synergistic combo.

It's automatic. The counter simply rolls back round to a new count. There's an additional score shown in the box which shows your best score to date, but otherwise it's pretty much the same as the old version.
