Not Much Action Today

Joined a PLO8 table with 7 players on it, but within about an hour it was down to just a couple
Today's HotD is 98, which is supremely tough to play in both PLO8 and Hold'em — unless you flop and OESD or something like that.

One min-cash in a freeroll.

There still could be more action, but I've got other things to do, and this will be my first HotD miss this month, so no big

Thanks!
There was more action this afternoon, and I managed to extend my streak to 9 days this month — with even $0.02 profit.
The HotD reward was $0.50, and I cashed two freerolls for small amounts.
I'm still in quite a hole for this week, but still up for the month...
And I'm once again within 10 bucks of my best bankroll yet.

Never Give Up! Never Surrender!

Opponent to my immediate right is playing 88/48 and takes the title to heart.[1]
However here I have a nut flush draw, broadway run down with gaps — and I ain't gonna give up or surrender either.

Just Checking

I don't record the tournaments I fail to cash, so today I checked PokerTracker to see what it said...
This is freerolls only, and only since the beginning of the BR Recovery blog
The ITM would be quite a bit better if I excluded satellites, since I almost never get a ticket.

Weekly Report

Not What I Had Hoped — but it sure could have been worse...

    Category     Won  Count
         F/R    3.47      9

Hand-of-the-Day streak continues.
I nearly didn't play for it today, since no PLO8 running — but a table opened up so I made it.
A couple of bad beats, but with the $1 reward, only lost a little

Sunday Daily Report (pt 1)

Today is the toughest day for the Hand-of-the-Day challenge[1]
But when I sat down this morning, there was a nearly full PLO8 table running.
I joined the table, and promptly won two hands post-flop with 87.
Then the next 9 times I held 87 I lost — some with terrible river calls.

Fortunately my favourite whale showed up, and doubled me up after I had already gained back almost all my losses

This is a fairly instructive hand, in that the opponent has a very weak low, with merely a top pair and nut flush draw
In fairness, equities are quite close, however they don't warrant the bet sizes used.
OTT I have the nut low, so I can (or should) get folds from non-nutted hands — but this player isn't known for holding the nuts

This One Was Nifty

Just a freeroll — but still...
I entered this post primarily because the price was too good.
I question the equity numbers shown for Hero though...

Edging ever closer

to a new record
I'm now only $1.34 short.

Today's Results:
    Category    Won  Count
         F/R   0.35      1
        Misc   0.04      1
        NLHE   4.72      1
        PLO8  -1.88      1
        HotD   0.50      1
 Grand Total   3.73      5

I played a bunch of Hold'em hands since today's HotD was AQ and it is a fairly good hand for that game.
In the end though, I got my reward through PLO8 once again.
The "misc" item is new to me — I got to spin for "up to" 100 % cashback based on yesterday's rake.
The segments were 2%, 5%, 10% (a couple more I forget) and 100%
I got 2% — too bad. The 100% would have put me over the top.

I cashed only a single freeroll so far, with one left to come.

Very rare event in a freeroll for me.

It has been a while since I posted that...

Well, I didn't make the FT — close, but busted in 12th for $3.50.

The Day's Results:
    Category    Won  Count
         F/R   3.55      2
        NLHE   3.00      1
        PLO8  -1.49      1
        HotD   0.50      1
 Grand Total   5.56      5

The Hand-of-the-Day challenge marks the 14th consecutive success.
One more and I get the monthly prize. Last month it was 10 bucks.

The trick now is to avoid a confidence downswing. By that I mean getting over confident and spewing a bunch.
If you notice the giraffe, almost every time I hit a record, there is a sharp downturn right afterwards.

I will do one thing though — I will play the $1.00 Big Shot several times each week.
I'll do this for a couple of weeks to see what sort of ROI I can get.
From what I've seen, it should play similar to the freerolls

New record calls for a giraffe. Not that it shows all that much...

No Hand-of-the-Day Reward Today

a shame, too, since this would have marked the 15th day, thus qualifying for the monthly prize.
I played 56 hands without seeing AJ once — then the table broke up — I finished more-or-less break-even, with a profit of 16¢
That plus a freeroll cash, and I managed to avoid spewing on the first day after a record.

It could have been worse, I guess...

I made the HotD, so qualify for the monthly reward

I got coolered a couple of times playing NL 5 though, so down almost a buy-in.

Cashed in two freerolls, with 1 left to play.
The neat thing about freerolls, is that they'll call with anything — and I suppose in this case, it was a legit call...

As Hard As I Tried

I still suffered a downswing after hitting the record[1]
This time with two $5.00 stacks in PLO8
In both cases I had the nuts for half the pot, and a draw to scoop. In one I got a mere quarter of the pot, and in the other I got scooped.

Oh well.
I made the HotD again, making 16 times in 17 days I succeeded.
I should get the monthly reward, but so far it hasn't shown up.

[1] yeah, well I could have folded of course, but if you're going to fold your best chances, you may as well not play poker
