SB is an unknown

BB is 17/16, 104 hands

PokerStars - $0.25 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

Hero (BTN): 100 BB
SB: 102.84 BB
BB: 346.16 BB
UTG: 127.64 BB
MP: 198.6 BB
CO: 138.68 BB

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has A♠ 4♥

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 2 BB, SB calls 1.6 BB, BB calls 1 BB

Flop: (6 BB, 3 players) T♣ 4♠ 4♦
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets 1.6 BB, SB calls 1.6 BB, BB calls 1.6 BB

Turn: (10.8 BB, 3 players) 2♥
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets 5.36 BB, SB calls 5.36 BB, BB calls 5.36 BB

River: (26.88 BB, 3 players) 9♦
SB bets 25.68 BB, fold, Hero ? ?

Should we raise here?

Defenitely a raise here on such a dry board texture. If he show us boat it's a cooler.

Some problems in raising imo. Can we realistically assume less than trips to give action? 4x should be very rare for SB. 99+ could/should of course 3bet pre.

Then again villain is unknown so there is possibility for weird stuff.

Calling preflop on SB or donking pot on river in 3way is clear sign of recreational player so I wouldnt be concerned too much that he can have full house. First of all a lot of players would prefer to check/shove their full houses in this spot on river as you shoved interest in betting on two previous streets. Second - recreationals are often not capable of making big folds. You wont have any bluff when you shove over his donkbet but he will snap call every 4x.
Only question is why you can shove only for 100bb.

Full house could be in villains range, but this would be a call or push spot. You have around 91bb left when villain bets so big.

Read less I would most likely call. It's tough to get value with shoving, but it's close for sure.

I disagree with raising. He is unknown, we dont know if hes a total monkey who call off with hands like KT or T9. He folds his bluffs.

A hand like 22 99 TT can be very likely. Also multiway chance increase a lot someone has a set. I think this hand makes a good call.

I believe that on this board we'll have the best hand most of the time. The hand is way too strong to turn it into a bluffcatcher. What do we raising here? Only full house? We are on the top of our range. Calling here will be way too nitty

Well, I'm not gonna show results for this one for sure because it's brewing some good discussions.

You give him too much credit. Before our decision on river we had 2 signs strongly suggesting this is at least partially typical 'fish'. Especially that donkbet pot on river - if he is doing it with full houses then what do you expect him to do with 64/54/43? I will add that runout decreases a bit chance for full house as 22 will struggle to call flop and 99 to call turn.

Okay, let me think about it. This is an interesting hand because it's the topic of an unknown player who acts unorthodox and unpredictably.

I will make a side bet before you show. You raise his donk, he calls and turns over ATo

In sng/mtt side villain line is sort of classical recreational line with very strong hands. It might indeed be 4x also but villain being on SB and us having 4 should cut those combos fair bit. Logic is "I will trap" on earlier streets and then on river they suddenly think "omg what if he checks back?!". But yeah this is cash game side so no idea here. Just interesting if this line has totally different type of range or logic. Looking for river x-r is the sensible move in this board with boats if taking passive line but often recreational dont have patience or "bravery" to check third time? Well interested to see what happened this time.

Absolutely. Recreational players love to "mess around". In spots like this his range is wide but most of the time he will turn over a little something like Tx hand or middle pocket pairs, especially on such a board texture. I play cash games and i've seen this over and over. I've started to adjust my play on the river and shove a bit lighter these potsize bets. With TPTK and overpairs. Even on dangerous boards with possibilites.

The unknown player who acts like a fish is a fish? In this case, yes. And I'm pretty sure he calls a shove. It's like a drooling baby pushing buttons saying "More!! More!!".

Yup, you lost 75bb in this hand by not shoving. When facing shove:
Regular: "Fuck it, should I call with my trips and no kicker? He is not shoving worse and I'm not sure how many bluffs he has..."
Fish: "What a nice surprise. This guy is pushing whole stack against my trips hahaha, call!".

I know right. That's one of the reasons why I didn't wanna show you guys the results.

Edit: typo
