Any decently raking winning player won't get much rakeback from GG anyway because of that PVI system.

Halftime August

Speaking of SB, I also had an eye on my SBvBU stats:

well, there is no improvement unfortunately. That means I have to intensify my SBvBU studies for this month.

Goals for August 2022
- 15k hands
- 25 videos of 3bet pot OOP

I'm happy to say I can see some improvements on SBvsBTN stats:

I still 3bet too much and I am aware of this leak but its a really hard one to adjust. became a real bad habit. example

Now for the goals:

- 6k/15k hands
- 13/25 videos of 3bet pot OOP

samplesize is a little behind the goal because of the heat wave in europe the last couple of days so I decided to go for some swimming or park instead of sitting in front of the warm computer :f_p: But I think I can still make it.

This saturday we go for the bachelor party of my friend in Amsterdam. Strippers included! Will try to deliver some pics ;)

I  Amsterdam

Bachelor party finished with great success. We went on a shooting range, cruising on a boat with striptease under a bridge  , had some drinking games and a nice nightlife tour. I'm still a little bit drunk/high :f_drink: Unfortunately it wasn't allowed to shoot pictures of gunrange or strippers but I understand there is a point.

There is much life going on in the streets of amsterdam, not only but especially at night. I remember running by the red light district but was too drunk already to get lurked in :f_drink:

I went for souvenir/t-shirt shopping the next morning. Most shops open at 12-13 o clock so my only chance was to get some at the flower market which showed the really beautiful side of amsterdam in a glorious morning sunrise! I can highly recommend the city, but be aware of prices: A burger in these streets was around 17€, renting an 120m² apartment is a whooping 3800€!

Some impressions:

I was too tired yesterday but I still want to share this couple of hands vs a spewtard that explains the top spike of my graph which made me speechless for a second and then I thankfully finished my session and went to bed sleeping like a newborn :f_pleased: obv the session was a total rollercoaster and I'm glad all went good in the end:f_drink::

I gained 50 stacks on PLO2 now so I'm looking forward for some PLO5 shots in the next sessions.

BRM will be a somewhat exotic approach but It worked for me the last time: I mix in one table of the higher limit when I have 30 stacks for it.

On 40 stacks I will mix in a 2nd table of the new limit. If I have 50 stacks for the next limit I will completely switch over to the next limit.

Moving down / mixing 0 higher tables if I only have $100 or 20 stacks for PLO5. That way I wont be too disappointed if 1-2 shots are going bad and crushes most of my profits of the last two months

Nice BB/100 there. I dont think there is anything weird with taking just one table from new limit at first. That is way I like to do it and something I also recommend for others. You will get feel for new limit and swings will stay lot smaller compared to moving all tables at once

Oh man that 300bb stack off with Q966ss is just awesome

September

OK lets get this straight: I did not achieve any of the following goals from last month:

X 10k/15k hands
X 20/25 videos of 3bet pot OOP

Multiple excuses for that:

I managed to get a side hustle in Video Editing because I still could not find a job as DevOps Engineer until today. I am looking forward to get extra training for the Dev Ops thing. The Video Editing job is interesting and exciting to me. I mainly am able to do this because I have a powerful rig to edit even 8K footage and the hardware I mainly gained up from my computer business I did mainly the two years that I had my poker break. Since I dont have the professional editing experience I also need to learn on this one but I am happy I found a client that gave me a chance. Customer is happy and so am I.

Now for the last days I stayed off the game and did some video content only. I felt the last hands were somewhat autopiloting and grinding the desired samplesize. While grinding a sample is good to fight variance, the days of bonuswhoring and rakebackgrinding are long gone. Because of that playing absolutely A-Game is even more important since you won't get a reward for burning out on samplesize. So don't take this too serious in the end if you set samplesize goals on your own.

As a somewhat old man of 37 my grinder capabilities are not what they were supposed to (12-16 tabling MTSNGs/MTTs on stars) but I will be confident that I can play 15-20k hands per month in the future when I did finish all of my learning goals and fix the leaks I have to fix.

Speaking of learning goals: I saw very less improvement on setting the goal of looking up the 25 videos of playing OOP. It is now that I remember I heard about 1-2 concepts but there is no real benefit from that really.

The last videos are luckily a recap of what was topic of the first videos. So this month the idea that came to my mind is: I will look at played hands from last weeks. Then I will recap a video accordingly. I will try to post hands that I played and reanalyze them based on the content I have watched/recapped. I hope that way some concepts will strengthen.

Last but not least, there is another 'excuse' that kept me from playing/learning: my cousin went for 2 weeks of holidays to turkey and asked me to babysit his cat. I had her for a weekend before so I could not say no :f_grin:

Enough with the excuses, goals for September:
a) 12.500 hands
b) recap 3bet OOP videos with HHs for all given board textures
c) optional: continue with shortstack content

Try a bit Kräuterquark. Every cat I've met in my life would kill for it.

I think I will spend it on the WCOOP 18-L PLO 6-Max 2-Day Event. One more Time :f_drink:

hi efkay!
You wrote about a film:
"But I recalled this by watching this new film recently: The dude makes a good living playing small cashgames. A backer hires him for the WSOP ME and of course he almost wins it but I really like how things turned down in this one so I can recommend it:"
What´s it called?

Halftime September

5.739 hands so far this month. Pretty confident I will achieve my samplesize goals this month if not even play way more hands because I have much fun again: I overcome a 10k hands phase where I was running 20 stacks below average. For me it is tough to motivate my self to play further when nothing works out, especially continue grinding and dont tilt is a difficult thing to master and we allhave to deal with it.

For the theory I'm lost: My plan of analyzing hands by recapping videos does not work as planned, hands are often too individual and content is too specific/generic to get a clear answer. I also did not post hands in the last days, did not watch a video and also did not do any quiz.

I feel like I am fit enough again to crush PLO2/PLO5. Even though 25k hands is not that large sample the winrate is high, higher than I expected it to become when I started the blog tbh because of the all time high rake enviroment:

Now on the other side I could go for GTO content but right now that feels so unneccessary because in the end I struggle to find any player I would have play GTO: Most of them are fish that has to be exploited either by valuebetting small, letting them bluff their stacks away or make a laydown vs river mincheckraise that is nuts 9.5/10 times.

I am looking for another way to improve my game for now. Instead of watching videos and maybe catch up a useful thing that I might forget 3 days later or discussing hands where there mostly not only one opinion but there are also more possible winning styles to go for I would love to go for a new approach.

For now I want to grind. I think I will go for my sample goals for now and once achieved I will go for theory the rest of the month. That way I make sure I achieve the samplegoals, reach the monthly callenge goals and another nice aspect is I will take breaks for more than 1-2 days from the tables and go for some deeper studies than 1-2 hours of videos or quizzing. Only unsure what I will go for but I think getting better at the infamous SB vs BTN game is still a thing and 50BB stacks I should also go for fixing leaks.

While I wasn't able to cash anything out of the WCOOP ticket I managed to win another $22 WCOOP ticket :f_tongue: Unfortunaely there are only upcoming H/L or 5/6card Omaha MTTs upcoming and I am already fish enough for PLO MTTs so I would love to donk the No Limit Holdem 50k GTD PKO tomorrow. I have an appointment though so might not happen. On sunday there is another $22 PLO or even the 2-Day Sunday Warm Up. We will see...

For life aside the felt: My friend got married this weekend and it was my honor to be the 'best man'. All the best to him and his bride :f_thumbsup: Now today I got called by my cousin: He is back from his trip and I already felt it somehow: He asked me if I want to continue to take care for his cat because he thought about it and wont have more time in the future because of work.

I also had to think about it and wasn't really sure if I should go for it. I mean I live in a central city area, no garden etc. Cat is a hunter, a predator, wants to go outside, catch mice and birds, fight for terretorial and stuff. But in the end I think it was some kind of fate: I always wanted a dog, but instead of getting one actively I thought about finding one in need or other circumstances.

Last time I babysitted the cat everybody told me to adopt it, now I got actively asked for. After two weeks the cat seem to settle down, gets comfortable when the vacuum robot is running and not so shy as in the first days. So before the cat gets totally lonesome in an apartment and will never get the chance to go outside we will have a try.

My cousin called her Tiger, somewhat cliche, but well, I can go for it :f_drink: Jackie Chan in 'Snake in the eagles shadow' also named his cat Tiger in the german version and I had to thought about this scene where he learned from his cat on how to defeat the 'eagles claw' style:

So welcome aboard little tiger! She also has a favorite place already: Obv the warm top of my computer:
