Previously, I would fold AQ to a 3bet at NL10 as people were 3betting a lot less. As people are typically 3betting more in NL25, I'm trying to call more IP with hands that play well post flop. I would fold AQo here. My concern is his sizing and SPR.

In my mind, AKx flop is good for my hand, as it makes it less likely he has AA, KK or AK. OTT, I don't see any point in calling as he either has me and shoves the river, he's bluffing and gives up on OTR, or he has a draw and only shoves the river if he makes it. So my options as I see them are shove or fold. The issue is, 99-JJ, he probably checks the flop or the turn unless he turns it into a bluff which is unlikely, AJs probably checks the turn. In game, my thought process was, if I'm going to call pre and I hit an Ace, is it a losing play to fold to this turn bet. If so, can I just fold pre?

Spoiler

Total pot: $50.70 (Rake: $2)

Showdown:
misteralex93 (BU) shows A Q (a pair of Aces)
(Equity - Pre-Flop: 29%, Flop: 2%, Turn: 0%, River: 0%)

Natrilis (BB) shows A K (two pair, Aces and Kings)
(Equity - Pre-Flop: 71%, Flop: 98%, Turn: 100%, River: 100%)

Natrilis (BB) wins $48.70

The first issue is the coldcall pre. For me this is a 3 bet maybe 80% and call 20%. Makes sense to sometimes just call to protect your coldcalling range. Vs the SQ you should call. On the flop you can go either way again. I personally like to mix it up and raise at least some of the time with the FD out there. You would be suprised what silly hands start to play back to you Out of fear of being outplayed.

AP I'd shove the turn as well with this SPR but not loving life since you will be Beat more offen then not, If called.

Do you mean 4bet sorry? Just to say, 4bet pretty much commits me.

Interesting feedback. Not sure about raising the flop though. I think overall, my range is so heavily weighted towards calling

No, I meant to 3bet the UTG Open. Looking at the specific hand BB probably would have cold4bet in this spot, which is kind of nice, since its avoid you to get coolered and you could have folded to the 4bet pre.

Oh, im so sorry man! Yes that’s a good point. Going to the flop with the iniative or easily holding to a 4 bet basically? That’s not a bad plan. I think my issue is his opening range UTG, he likely folds anything I'm beating pre. That was my concious. I’m not sure he continues with AJ or AT there tbh.

Flop really favors uncapped range here, i dont see any point in raising the flop.

Also he goes really big preflop with 6x of the openraise size(which is not that common and can be used as a tell). Then as played flop is call, and imo turn gets a bit tricky. ( he basicly goes allin on turn with that sizing )

He still can have most of the KK`s, which if he takes that line with that sizing is probably a good chance of him holding KK here imo or another premium hand like AA AK.
Imo he gave 2 tells he goes for stack here and is probably not doing it with AJ. I also dont see too much bluffs here.
I dont know imo this AQs becomes just a bluffcatcher, and in this tight zoom environment, probably folding turn here against this sizing is best.

In theory this is probably a calldown, like if you put it into solver it calls probably at least one AQs combo.
But Solver also uses sometimes too large ranges imo and also bluffs a lot.

The problem with shoving is that we only beat his bluffs (unless he is a recreational fun player), but then again we can also fold on the turn.

" In game, my thought process was, if I'm going to call pre and I hit an Ace, is it a losing play to fold to this turn bet. If so, can I just fold pre? "

Thats the wrong approach, you arent committed in a 3bet pot, theres plenty of room of folding. If you cant fold an Ax toppair in 3bet pot you definitly should work on that.

But then again its just my thoughts, probably some against folding turn.

Thanks for the really in-depth feedback LM and I really agree with your logic / thought process.

I can fold Ax in a 3bet pot when hitting an ace, but what I meant is, due to the sizing pre, I am more committed. I know a solver would say to call (interesting read an article about this yesterday) but you’re right, the reason for the solver coming up with that logic, I’m not sure is 100% true at these stakes on Zoom as much as playing the same people constantly at NL 200+

First, it is not a 3 bet pot. It is a Squeeze pot. There is a little difference.
Second, I agree with analyses of LMcrow.

Indeed, but a squeeze is off course a 3bet as well in this situation.

River I would fold with only a bluff catcher. Tough to think of missed flush draws that would 3bet and 3 barrel.

Lets go doug polk style :f_biggrin:

Preflop both options is fine, flat or 3-bet (offcourse then remember flat or 3-bet better hands than AQs) folding is only mistake here and only small mistake split ranges vs 1 opponent.

UTG made here mistake folding cause you are in the pot so both can call, but he folds then so can you after him. You can still call and draw the flush flops or Qxx and still draw twopair on the turn cause they c-bet so small. have to be some maniac opponent to ever value calling this.
