With all this said, my preference would clearly be to do a 40k bicycle session and not stop my 2 German Bratwursts for dinner... (or turn it into 1 + salad)

Exactly. I can still have the food I enjoy on a daily basis and still hit my goals. Food can be enjoyed in moderation and give us all the boost we need (energy, mood, attitude etc)

I just had a cup of tea and 6 Oreos for example, and ended the day with over 1.2K cal deficit.

Small sample size of course, but all metrics are pointing in the right direction!

Almost a quarter of the way there in less than a month!

When ChatGPT does a better update for you

Hey everyone!

I wanted to give you all an update on my weight loss journey. As you may remember, I started my plan on January 22nd, and I'm happy to report that I'm making great progress!

When I first started, I weighed 15 stone 13 and 3/4 lbs. I know, that's a lot, but I didn't let it discourage me. I've been dedicated to my new lifestyle for a few weeks now, and as of today (February 15th), I've already lost a noticeable amount of weight and am now down to 15 stone. Woohoo!

I'm really proud of the progress I've made so far, and I think one of the keys to my success has been my commitment to exercising regularly. I've been using my exercise bike as my main form of exercise and I've been cycling an average of 25KM per day. It's been tough, but I'm already seeing the results, and it feels amazing!

Of course, I know that exercise alone isn't enough to achieve my weight loss goals. That's why I'm also maintaining a daily calorie deficit of 1,000 cals. This means that I'm burning more calories than I'm consuming each day, and I can already see the difference in the mirror. I'm feeling more energized and confident than ever!

I know there's still a long way to go, but I'm feeling really positive and motivated right now. I'll keep you all posted on my progress, and I'm looking forward to celebrating more victories along the way!

Thanks for following my journey, and I hope my story can inspire you to make positive changes in your own life. Remember, every little step counts!

Next update will be from ChatGPT.... I'll get my coat!

I've recently seen a nice podcast from Steven Bartlett hosting Giles Yeo (Links to Wikipedia), a nutrition scientist from Cambridge, talking about calories. Still quite fresh from two weeks ago. Was quite interesting to listen too, as well as some other podcasts on the channel:

Insightful, cheers.

Found him a bit pompous but each to their own.

It's always a interesting subject. I'm earlier under weight and I can eat what I want without getting heavier.

Not sure that's possible, but that makes it interesting why someone is heavy and eat not much and someone that's skinny and eats a lot :f_rolleyes:

Because it's rigged :f_frown:

EDIT: In reality, I was over-eating for the last number of years along with a bad combo of foods/little exercise.

When I got married at age 27 I weighed 145 pounds (65.8kg)
20 years later I was 216 lb (97.8kg)
22 years after that I'm now 162 lb (73.5kg) and I've done nothing other than change the amount I eat

Another factor is that at age 27 I was mostly muscle, and that in my core and legs. I've never had much upper body strength.
At 47 I had added a superb Molson muscle, and probably lost some regular muscle.
Currently I have lost a rather large amount of muscle, along with most of the fat.

I'm now 35 years old and I don't think my weight changed to much the last 15 years.
Off course I play soccer (goal keeper on recreational level) and run a few times per week.

Anyone for a prop bet?

:D:D:D:D:D:D

EDIT: It doesn't have to be for $200K, $199,999.99 will suffice, Kappa

There's a lot of peer pressure when it comes down to weight loss. I think you need discipline and the right type of motivation (living healthy lifestyle) to reach your goals. Same skills you need to become a good poker player I would say.

Doug Polk almost wins prop bet...so he lost I reckon? :f_p:

Haha he lost. You cannot win if you almost win!

Yes, getting to the end goal weight is all about determination and motivation.

.

I can walk 10km, but it takes a while, and I'm done in at the end. I haven't done much at all this winter.
How young is young?
I'm almost 70, and I know people that are still athletic at this age. I'm not one of 'em

Here you can only move in the early morning, I started now to do some fast walking for the moment up to 7.5km starting around 5 am. Once the sun comes out, it is getting too darn hot and humid. I still do hate the concept that I don't lose any weight despite sweating like hell during the day. I really hate the summers in the Indian Ocean.
I admire the drive of my sister in law who has started close to her fifties with running marathon.
Molson muscle is probably what I know from Germany as a Binding spoiler [automotive meaning].

25 km a day is a good start. My wife is doing from Mo-Fr 40 km every day. When I was young my best was 350 km in one day in the French and Swiss alps. Or in 2 weeks a trip around the pyrenes.

45km is my most at the moment. In fact last 3 days I went 40-45-35. Today is looking like a 25 or 30 at a push!

Will step it up next month!

Awesome, I guess Ireland is the best place to do this, amen't it?
Remember my holidays in the early 90s, two of them with the bicycle across the island. Could have looked quite irish, but the old guy in the pub of Oughterard got me...He told me that they don't eat these fancy coconut cookies in their vicinity. :f_biggrin:

I'm using an exercise bike, don't leave the house! ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช would be great if it didn't always rain.

Once Spring kicks in I will do some outside cycling potentially.

I love the rain. :f_grin: I have an entire folder of rain videos on my PC.

It's not always easy to find any good new ones I like, because many of them are unfortunately ruined by obnoxious piano music when they are uploaded.

When I go to bed early, and there are people talking in the house, I have a selection of rain mp3s to listen to.
I also have some waves-on-shore ones, as well as forest sound ones.

If there is no-one talking, I can get the same result just listening to the sounds outside.
