Good news - glad to hear it!
Thanks a lot, guys.
Today, we have construction workers in the house, so don´t know if I can play some poker today. Otherwise, my today´s session may be postponed to tomorrow. This week, by the way, there will be no poker on Friday and Saturday due to Easter holidays and family gatherings.
Changes have to be made
At the moment I´m injured and can´t do sports, but after seeing the dermatogist and getting my (lucky) diagnosis, I have to make some changes in my outdoor-sports schedule. The thing is, that I must avoid the sun as best it can, if I don´t wanna get squamous cell carcinoma. Actinic keratosis is not cancer, but definitely a warning!!! Gardening, running and even tennis practice won´t be a problem, I can do all that in the evening. We can do nice bike tours in the nearby forest, there´s plenty of shadow! ♠_biggrin:
But what about competing in tennis? Competitions are usually at 1 p.m. so, that´s right in the midday sun!!

And that´s pretty much the worst thing one can do with already UV-damaged skin (that´s exactly what actinic keratosis is: severe damage from UV-radiation!!!). And on the tennis court, you have no chance to avoid the sun while playing. Oh crap! So, playing 2 hours tennis in the midday sun?

Guess I have to change my competition schedule and look for competitions which take place in the morning or in the evening.
Anyways, in future I have to be super careful and should avoid the sun, especially the midday sun!!!
.
You can do the gardening early in the morning or late in the afternoon or in the evening. ♠_thumbsup: And you can wear a big hat and sunglasses. ♠_biggrin:

Okay, now I know where my luck went .....not to the poker table but right into my skin. Had to check a strange skin lesion at the doctor. Our family doctor was shocked when he saw the lesion and directly sent me to the dermatologist. There, the doctor exaiminated my lesion and found that it´s NO CANCER!!
Those were great news yesterday!
Very glad to hear about it. ![]()
You made a good decision having it checked as early as possible.

And I had several outdoor sports challenges planned for us this summer too...
I'm sure we'll find a way.
Your health always comes first.
Harrier, no problem! We will do our outdoor-challenges in the late afternoon or evening! ♠_thumbsup:
Super quick Mini Session
As construction workers were here, I could play only a quick Mini-session today with quite mixed results. The good news is that I could make it ITM in the most SnGs, but then lost in the HU twice versus a 3-outer.
Could win one SnG and the rest were 3rd places. To be fair: Today I got lucky too and could hit my 3-outer twice, so don´t get me wrong
There must be a mini-profit today, which is better than nothing. There were also a couple of frustrating bubble, while once, after being card-dead for a long time, finally found ATo, jammed it from the SB into 2 limpers with about 9 BB, just to find out, that BB wakes up with AK.
The other bubble was loosing a flip with AK vs 55 as shorty, having been card-dead for a long time.
At least I´m running much better than a week ago and I hope April will be a better SnG month than March.
Is there some sort of volume goal or,are you just having fun (which is also of great importance)?
Back in the days when I played those games (talking 1200bc) you had to play a gazillion of those a day to make a decent profit. I always thought those games didn’t run like they used to do. How is that today?

Good questions, thank you!
Well to your first question the answer is: both! I have a volume goal which is at least 20 SnG per session, around 80 SnGs per week, playing on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The goal in every session is either at least 20 SnGs or 2 hours of CG (I also play Cash). And fun is of course an important factor! This is why I´m not mass grinding those SnGs anymore like back in my "old days" (1200 bc
), but focus more on enjoying the game and having proper rest in between my sessions.
To your second question: On Stars there´s always good traffic. We in Germany have the 4 table cap though, but you can play on different rooms. I play on Stars and Partypoker and almost always 6-table. Yes, you have to play zillions of those turbo SnGs until it pays off, but as I always mention: consistency is the key!
Happy Easter Grindette!
Poker can always wait a few days - the game is going absolutely nowhere.
Hope you have a great weekend and recharge the batteries sufficiently.
Hey guys,
thank you very much and I hope you all enjoy Easter. We´re done with all the familiy gatherings, not sure about hitting the tables tomorrow, there´s a lot of household chores to be done, let´s see ... We´re on vacation during the upcoming week, only a stay-at-home-vacation, but plenty of time to relax and recover. Will play either tomorrow or on Tuesday next week.
"I don´t want a full house - I go directly to the hotel"
This was the motto of my todays grind.
Hit the CG tables on Stars today and started with about 2 hours PLO2. The beginning seemed promising, but then things got worse: card-dead, missed flops and three busted full houses. One got rivered by a 3-outer, one was quite a cooler KKxx vs AAxx and one was just the underful, which was played very carefully, so no big loss. But anyway, the missed flops and those full houses costed me some money, and after my PLO-session I was about 3 € (1,5 stacks) down. Harrier was railing a bit and after seeing my busted full houses he asked: "Why do you play full houses, why don´t you go directly to the hotel?"
And I agreed! Decided that I do not need a full house, I want to go to the hotel. ![]()
Had enough of those luckers, so played also a little Holdem Cash (NL2) where I could win around 2,5 € or so. So at the end of the day, I ended up quite break-evenish, +/- 1,5 € . No matter if Cash or SnG or MTT: It´s quite a challenge to play through unlucky and/or card-dead phases. Glad that I have my days off the tables, so that I can have a fresh and relaxed start at every single session.

You started calling your full houses just "houses" at one point. When you then pointed out that your "house" didn't make it once again, I suggested that it looks like people may prefer to stay at the hotel today.
I'm looking forward to our standard rail sessions on Skype again.
Maybe switch to calling them "boats".
I've no idea how they came to be called boats, but some people do.

How about "Titanics"? At least in PLO.
It can´t go on like this forever ....
Again: One of my worst sessions ever!!!! Jammend three times QQ into AA, KK lost three times: KK < AQ, KK < 77 and once A on the flop and had to be folded. KK made it exactly once, in a 1 $ SnG on Partypoker, where it held up versus QQ. But today, QQ was not better: QQ < 55, QQ < 98o (Villain found his gutshot on turn) and jammed three times into AA and once into KK. Most of the time, when I got AK, AQ, AJ, they didn´t hit. The flop went like 5-7-8 or 5-8-9 or 5-6-7, very draw heavy, mostly in multiway pots, and that was it on the flop. Jammed 66 into JJ, 55 into JJ, and the rest were pretty much zillions of junk hands like 84o, 83o, 94o, 92o and such. This was one of the worst SnGs sessions I have had so far and indeed, it was very frustrating, because my last SnG-month went very poorly. The longer such phases endure, the more difficult it gets...
I do not expect any winning at the moment, only CG was a little session saver which also went quite poorly (gazillions of junk hands and 99,9 % of the boards completely missed), but at least I could take some money with AA and once with a set. Those two CG hands, AA and a set 444 were the highlights of my todays session and some kind of "session savers".
I know it can´t go on like that forever, but it´s getting pretty annoying. I´m tired of those loosing sessions, guys. It´s not fun....
Fortunately, I will have a nice life meetup with Harrier on Friday, so there will be no poker. So, I have a bit longer poker-break now, which I REALLY need. It´s getting more and more annoying ....
.
Thank you, Nazgos!
You know, today, I thought again: I have used up my luck for this year - in my skin! Which is WAY more important! My luck really seems to be used up by my skin this year. ♠_ugly:
.
Wow, that's amazing...
Very glad that you made it. ![]()
Did it make you see life in a different way?
I´m 100 % with Harrier: Awesome that you made it, Nazgos! Poker is just a game, for me even just a hobby. But health is everything!
