Hey, who knows "spring cleaning"?
Is that only a German thing or is that internationally known? As I was still injured (and the weather was poo anyway), I did the "spring cleaning" this week, as I was on vacation. The spring cleaning is kind of a little "tradition": I have no idea who brought it up, but in spring, we use to clean our houses and appartments very well, everthing is neat and tidy, everything clean, so it´s actually an intense cleaning of your house or appartment.

I have no idea why we do that in spring, but I use to do spring cleaning. ♠_ugly: Is that anywhere else in the world known and practiced?
Spring cleaning is also a thing in Canada, but you don't hear much about it these days.
It was once a theme in advertisements and mentioned regularly on radio and TV around this time.
I won't be doing it this year, since my springs are still very clean.
Better than nothing.... (CG)
My impression is that my BR is not really moving forward but rather dancing around break-even at the moment. I´m a bit tired from yesterday, Harrier and I had a nice meetup again with lots of good food and good drinks and - BABY PEACH WINNING A RACE!!! in Mario Kart!!!!
Anyway, I at least hit the CG tables today, because CG I can quit any time when I get too tired, so, played a little PLO2 and NL2 on Stars. The traffic on PLO2 was terrible and still no decent hand in PLO! No draw got there! But this was also the case in Holdem: 99 % unplayable junk hands, 99 % of the boards missed, so happy whenever I saw AK, AQ, AJ but then when I saw the flop, my happiness was immediately gone! AK, AQ, AJ missed about 99 % of the times, but hey, you know what? KK held up in CG! KK was one of my highlight and silver lining hands today and once JJ which flopped a full house T-J-T, while Villain with AT jammed his whole stack. So, yeah, I guess I directly went to the hotel today. ♠_ugly:♠_ugly: Another nice hand was QJ wich also went to the hotel with a 9-J-J-x-Q-board.
But that was pretty much it for today.... the rest went poorly with about -1,5 € lost in PLO, but altogether about 1 stack up.
So, about 3 highlight-hands, the rest just either total junk or completely missed boards .... anyway, 1 stack up is better than nothing, right?

According to Merriam-Webster, the word spring-cleaning has been in use in the English language since 1841.
I vaguely remember once reading a book about Feng Shui decades ago that mentioned at one point that something similar to spring cleaning has been traditionally practiced in many Far-Eastern societies too, but not under that name. This article has some suggestions, possibly tying it to the Lunar New Year, for example.
In my case, the closest thing I have to a cleaning ritual is getting the house ready every other month or so for Primrose's visit.
So far, she had no complaints. Other than that, I often do some rudimentary cleanings on Saturdays.
Well, that´s interesting, thank you Harrier.
I also use to do a top to bottom cleaning of our apartment before Christmas: kind of a "Christmas and New Year"-cleaning, which symbolized a bit a new and fresh start into the new year. I also use to do a big cleaning at the end of each of the four seasons her, which symbolized kind of a fresh start into the new season. Normally, I do just a quick cleaning once a week.
Well at Vorpal Manor we had a last-minute cleaning storm whenever company was coming.
Part of the ritual was getting a box and shoving everything into it that was out of place. This is known as a "box job"
We would then put the box in the storeroom[1] . There it would sit until somebody remembers something that was in it.
At that point, we would go to the storeroom and retrieve one or more box jobs and go through them.
Bonus is finding the item.
Side value is throwing away things we don't use any more[2] .
[1] The storeroom is a cupboard under the stairs, and is known here as "Harry Potter's Room"
[2] At least one item thus thrown away will be needed the following day-after-garbage-day
I may have hit rock bottom today ...
The downswing unfortunately goes on and today it looked like rock bottom. Gazillions of unplayable junk hands, missed flops, and almost every halfway playable hand lost. The silver lining of all this: I almost always got it in good. But it was not meant to be.
JJ < 66
QQ < KJ on a 2-T-J-Flop. Villain donk bets and I get it in on the flop. River: K!
Top pair < bottom pair: Sitting with K9o in the BB, hitting a 5-K-x Flop. We get it in on the turn, Villain shows Q5s, River: Q
Coinflips: Almost every flip lost!
70 % Equity: Almost all hands lost, AQ < A8 (Heads up, all-in pre), AKs < K4o (on the bubble!), AT < A4, AK < A2, AJ < AT
Villains hitting like world champions against me, no matter with what, while no matter what premium hand I hold (which is mostly 70-80 % ahead): I LOOSE! Villains hit their miracle two- and three-outers, getting there with their draws and their insane calls.
Barely hitting any flop and if I did, turn and river fell against me, bringing Villains their super miracle wonder 2- or 3-outers. So, there was barely a hand that made it to the river.
Could only place 3 times ITM, and only one second and two third places. A lot of bubbles today, either jamming as desperate short stack (due to NO playable hand at all until then!) into a monster or getting called and loosing a flip or to a 3-outer. ![]()
Todays session was even worse than the ones before and I can tell, that today I lost many buy-ins, even though getting it in good. Well, guess bad luck doesn´t want to leave me and I already have used up my luck for my skin. I have no idea when this finally will come to an end but April seems to be as bad as March was. According to statistics one day, my hands will hold up and I will get lucky, but when will this be? And how long can I take it?
I know we have all seen many runbad posts on this forum over the years, but Prim is not exaggerating here. I was watching her games, it was truly ridiculous... one suckout after the other in key spots, it was frustrating to watch. The last few sessions were pretty unlucky already, but I think this one was the worst one yet.
All I can do to help is to act as her lightning rod for tilt.
Seriously, I did all the tilting for her as I was railing.
Not sure what to say... today's session left me kind of speechless, really.

YOU did the tilting for me
so I did not have to.
Thank you very much! ♠_love:
Hello Primrose i see you have a lot of kind of chilis, i have not tried a lot of them, love habanero.
How come you switch from DoNs to PLO MTTs when having mental leaks. you switch a non variance game to a psycho variance game :roto2:. Wish you the best of lucks. will be following your blog. Very interested in how the chilis sprout, and how hot they are.
cheers

Probably masochism? :f_ugly::mdr: I like PLO, but I only play PLO Cash Games now. ![]()
DONs can be quite boring. Okay, those turbo-SnGs I play now are also quite swingy, but not as bad as PLO-MTTs.

I have been playing NL 25 to qualify for a promo on PokerStars. Similar card-deadness.
So I decided to check to see what I would lose if I just folded every hand. The promo requires 300 hands played in 5 sets of 60 hands.
60 hands is 10 orbits, and you lose $0.35 per orbit, and 50 orbits means a loss of $17.50 If I lose less that that, I'm ahead!
Hey! I just realized that if I play 9-max, I lose only 11.50.
Mind you, I have no clue anymore what 9-max opening ranges would even look like.
As for the downswing, perhaps switch to cash games — you can quit any time.

This is exactly what I´m planning for the next sessions, Vorpal. I think the upcoming sessions will be CG. Just to have a little break from SnG and also to have the opportunity to quit, whenever I have enough!
The silver lining .... (PLO)
At least the PLO god was nice to me today. As already announced, today was CG-day. And there even was traffic on PLO!! While the SnG-god was very hard on me, the PLO-god finally showed some mercy. Early on in my session he gave me daily quads. ![]()
