I think you played very solidly today, especially at the PLO tables (I mostly saw those, I was too busy with cooking etc when you had mostly Hold'em tables).

It's not like you had a ton of luck, it just went "normally", I believe. Looks like that's all it takes...

Thank you, Harrier! Today, I was really totally "in the flow" with Omaha again, a feeling I have missed for such a long time. Anyway, I enjoyed it and that´s what counts. We will return to the SnG tables soon - so don´t worry, dear readers, who came to my blog because of the SnGs. _biggrin:

I take what I can get (PLO)

Even though I still get my daily suck-out (QQ < 33 today in CG), I cannot complain too much. After playing a little NL2 due to little traffic on PLO2, I could find some nice PLO tables and play a bit. Due to instable internet, I decided to play CG today, because in CG you just go on sit out if your internet breaks down and you don´t loose your buy-ins like in SnG or MTT. Played a nice little CG session by 4-tabling PLO2, found a good customer who payed for my nut flush with my A♦:K♦:K♣:T♣:, board didn´t pair and Villain was willing to pay with the non-nut flush. Thank you very much! My nut str8 was unfortunately a chop, because Villain had it too. _ugly:

No phantom str8 today, _ugly: and not phantom flush, a couple of top sets which held up - well, they didn´t actually, I just got the pot on the flop, which is a nice outcome in PLO. _ugly: Besides, a couple of small pots, some good bluffs, and otherwise missed boards. Today, I was not particularly lucky, nor unlucky. It was not easy to get more small pots, due to call-happy Villains. _ugly: But I took what I could get and ended up pretty much exactly break-even. _ugly:_ugly:

Have you stopped playing SNGs now or just fluctuating between both depending on your mood?

We had our annual spring clean recently and still decided to keep the kids around despite the amount of questionable stuff found in their respective rooms!!

No, I haven´t stopped playing SnG, I´m fluctuating between SNG and CG, as the title of my blog says: SNG, PLO and HOT stuff! _biggrin:_smile:

Sports, sports, sports!!

Well, cannot do my full sports schedule yet, due to my injury, but my leg is getting better and at least I can add now cycling to my schedule. Played tennis on Monday, but noticed that I still have to be careful on the tennis court. Still NO running! No way! But the good thing about all that is that I finally could re-start swimming! Finally, i can do my Fridays swimming! During winter season I had tennis practice on Fridays but now, as winter season is over, I will have tennis on Mondays, Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays or Thursdays. That means, that on Fridays, I can finally go for a nice swim.

The change in my sports schedule means also a tiny little change in my poker schedule, poker will be now either on Wednesdays (when I do not have Ladies tennis on Wednesday) or Thursdays (when I have Wednesdays Ladies tennis). The rest stays the same.

I´m glad that I can still do some sports, despite a pulled muscle in my left calf, but of course, I have to be careful. I´m happy that cycling is possible now. Today, the weather looks finally like real spring and Homer and I could go grocery shopping by bicycle!

Rock bottom seems to be almost over ...

My SnG session went well with a couple of winnings, second places and one third. It was definitely a winning session today and I hope this is it with downswings, at least in SnGs and Cash. Played also two SnG-MTTs on Stars, a 0,25 $ and a 0,5 $ and on special occasions, I use to play some MTTs with was the case now, at the Micro Millions. But one thing I can tell you guys: I played one Micro Millions Event: the 1.10 $ PKO NL Holdem and I have already enough of this bullsh!t. The tourney went quite well at the beginning and then one unlucky hand after the other: AK < QJ (Villains gets random flush with 4 cards), 99 < 88 (suck out!) and the Q9s, as a desperate shortie < 28o!!! That´s it for me with MTTs for a while, except for some fun Troll Challenges! I know exactly why I am an SnG- and Cash-player! :spit:

Anyways, SnG and CG are important, today, I played both, could win a 2 $ SnG on Partypoker and place third in another one, won a 1 $ SnG on Party as well and on Stars I won two 0,5 $ SnGs and could some third places. Again, I learned that I don´t really have the nerve for MTTs, at least I could KO one Villains which made this stupid tournament cheaper. Played also a mini-PLO session which ended up break-evenish.

Sorry for spitting in the blog, but MTTs suck! :f_ugly: :f_ugly: :f_ugly: :f_ugly:

Definitely a winning session today, but MTTs can really spoil my good mood. :spit:

Wise decision! Usually, I see such large-field MTTs as wasting of time. You play hours and hours, just to get a suck-out shy before the bubble or just to min-cash: For me personally, it´s not worth it! I can get that money in CG in not even half of the time! If you manage to get a good CG table with decent fold-equity, you make that "MTT mincash" in less then an hour (which is unfortunately quite rare on low limits).

You have to be incredibly lucky to win such a tournament or make a deep run and usually, you do not get that much luck! Whenever I feel like playing an MTT, I prefer those on Partypoker with about 200-300 players or the SnG-MTTs on Stars, those 18-45 on demand. You still have the "MTT-feeling", but you don´t have to waste hours and hours and then leave with nothing.

Even then, the MM would just be a one-off series that would require a lot of luck for a good cash. WCOOP/SCOOP and the standard high-rollers on Stars would probably be a better stop for those guys.

For mixed games, MicroMillions are good, because the MTT selection is otherwise very limited, so a series like this is your only shot at some better prize pools. That's why I always try to participate in the MM events of those games if my schedule allows it, and I've even had a few good cashes there in the past.

Tonight, I plan to play the Razz side event, which in this case is even your only shot at ever getting such a low buy-in tournament at all for some practice. The standard Razz MTTs on Stars cost $7.50, making it tough to get experience in it.

"Perfectly break even"...

...because I didn´t play today, due to common cold. The swimming pool is the best place to get infected with any virus. :f_ugly: :f_ugly: :f_ugly: Didn´t feel 100 % healthy yet, so I skipped my todays session. Let´s recover first, before we hit the tables again .... _smile:

Back at the tables, back at the swimming pool...

So now: Recovered well from a little common cold and today, I not only hit the swimming pool, but also the SnG tables. My todays session went okay, kings held up, only once I had to fold them on the flop (A on the flop, two Villains in the pot). QQ sucked KK once out, so there´s still some ladies power going on _ugly: . Could make lots of ITMs today, but mostly second places. Won only one SnG today, the rest were second and third. Furthermore, I tried a 0,5 $ SnG-MTT (18-45 players on demand) again and placed 4th! _drink: Those little SnG-MTTs on demand are worth to consider, they don´t take that long and they´re quite fun! I will keep those in mind for sessions when I have a bit more time, the one today took like 1,5 hours or so. I will think about maybe including those SnG-MTTs in my grind, but of course not in every session. Let´s see ...

Looks like finally a nice winning today, on Partypoker and on Pokerstars as well. Finally, it´s going uphill...

You always recover so quickly. My colds tend to be mild, but they usually last close to a week, I think.

Well played today! :f_drink:

Paired board!!! (Blooper of the day)

Thank you very much, Harrier. Yes, except for my blooper of the day. :f_ugly: :f_ugly: :f_ugly: PLO players may be familiar with this: You have the nut flush, or the nut str8 and then: on turn or river (or both): The board pairs!!!!

This is what happened to me today: I flopped a nutflush blind vs blind (I was BB, SB raised and I had called with A6s). The perfect flop for me and I´m ready to get it in! But the turn brings pure HORROR! The board pairs!!

Harrier: "Why don´t you bet? You have the NUT FLUSH"
Me: "THE BOARD IS PAIRED"
Harrier: "So what?"
Me: "PAAAAAAAAAAAAIRED BOOOOOARD!!!!"

....and Prim checks her nutflush all the way down - against middle pair! :f_ugly: :f_ugly: :f_ugly: :f_ugly: :f_ugly:

I think I may have lost a bit of value there? :f_ugly: :f_ugly: :f_ugly: :f_ugly:

I usually don't like to comment on Prim's decisions at the tables until after she has made them. I did the same here. When I saw Prim checking behind on the turn after that second J showed up, I just said "check?" :f_confused: in bewilderment, and figured Primrose was going for some fancy move, possibly to induce a bluff from her opponent on the river. I already thought at that point that this is probably not a very wise decision, she should just play straightforwardly at those limits, those fancy plays will probably just make her lose out on value.

Then the river came... and Primrose checked back again! :f_eek: That was when my head exploded. "This is Hold'em, Prim!" :f_ugly: You don't need to check back twice with a monster hand like that just because it isn't the absolute stone-cold nuts anymore. And I thought I was a nit...

The grindette stood by her decision. I just thought to myself that she better won't complain about being card dead this time after going for a cheap showdown with this hand...

I wish I spoke Ancient Greek... best I could come up with for that was doioabaksphobia.
From δοιός - pair and ἄβαξ - board.

Longtime (German, as well) SNG Reg having moved mostly to MTTs by now Here
What I can say is, I don't understand by any means why you haven't made the Switch Off of Party by now (Maniac talked about it at the very beginning, and it's true, even If you crush the Games, giving Up 5% each Game is just a large % of your ROI you are giving Up for free)
If you want to stick to STTs and regulated sites then Stars+888 will by far be the best (and almost only) choices
I See No valid reason why Party should have a place for any German STT grinder
Lets say even you have a good 10% ROI in them and thus your actual ROI will then be 5%? If you beat Party SNGs at that rate, you are better than that... Just a Numbers example, but just the truth

One needs to check back with nut flush and bet-fold non nut boats. That is the WAY!

So, guys, I will eventually answer your questions.
Why I play on Partypoker? Because we Germans do not have many opportunities to play on other poker rooms. We have BetOnline, Partypoker, Pokerstars and ...? What? I mainly play on Pokertars because the traffic in the SnGs is just the best there. Not sure if 888 is still available for us, don´t know how the traffic in the SnGs is there, but I will take a look (if possible). I have BetOnline, but still struggling with the deposit, because, however, cannot deposit by credit card and I have no idea how this Crypto stuff works. Whenever I feel like playing MTT, then Partypoker was normally the way to go for me because the MTTs are not so large-field there, they are SUPER FISHY!! and they don´t take as much time as those large-field MTTs on Stars.
