I thought turn more often helps villain range so decided to check and try to go for x-r. Obviously if villain has TT or KK money will go to middle on turn whatever I bet or check.

Second one I did win. My hand pretty much played itself. With T987ds I would go for 3bet but as ss version call in position make most sense. Then easy overcall versus SB squeeze. When SB potted this flop versus three players I were pretty sure we need to evade clubs.

Those Unibet casino freespins seem a bit sus. I get quite often that deposit 75 and get 20-30 free "high value" spins offer too. Spins usually have nominal value of 50-75c or such, so with normal RTP of those games their EV should be +10 euros.

I have been tracking these lately and if I get 2 euros that's better than nornal. Last time I got freaking 18 cents! So there is couple of options what is going on with those :

1.those games have like max 1-10% RTP when using free plays
2. The nominal value of those free spins are not shown correctly (and marketing those as high value is a lie)
3. RTP depends of user and his casino usage, I for one get a lot of these bonuses and do not play otherwise casino games - I'm really not a good customer for these

Ultimately it would seem kind of stupid to lower RTP on those freerolls as I would assume they are given in hope to get more casino users. So if they perform worse than expected it would make it less enticing to play them.

But of course poker players (especially winning ones) are indeed worst kind of casino customers as they likely think in manner of EV. In the end playing slots make no sense without something making that EV positive one. Personally I never play slot machines (which are still widely spread in Finland) and often wonder about ones who seems to play them. But I suppose it's about chance to win that bring the rush. I play good amount of video games but those obviously are much more interesting than watching slots roll (at least for me).

There is possibility that those slots are very heavily weighted on big wins which would explain why short term returns can be really bad. But yeah I am happy to use those freerolls as long as they give some euros at least. They only take few minutes to spin and usually also have that auto spin feature.

I would shove or bet half pot even though it doesn't make sense. (even "good" reg call halfpot w Qhi in my pool)
To many times I noted "good ,ok reg" and been wrong:f_cool:
Creative line though from villain. Do you think he was bluffing flop and gave up river?

Yeah, he just never has it SPR1 here. Maybe some small bet just to tempt him would be funny? Or then just shove in case he really is not ok reg or is tilted or whatever, I dont see reason to check.

Yeah probably it should be bet overall but I just didn't think this quy was bad enough to take this line for value with worse. When he checks river I assumed he has bluff that he gave up pretty much always. My hand also blocking K high flush.

Indeed he turned his hand into bluff on flop blocking nuts and having some equity with two pair. I wasn't really happy at all facing flop x-r as his value range is basically straight flush or nut flush. Also reason I checked river was curiosity to see his hand :)

Only sense in checking river with nuts in his shoes is basically if he assumes I will float this spot with e.g. nut flush blocker with boat outs and bluff river. But yeah maybe there is still higher chance of him having weaker flush to call than him getting tricky with nuts.

PS: Plus my reads could be wrong. His preflop defend as overcall is imo pretty wide as well.

wow on that check behind. It looks super crazy to me to not give some sort of valuebet here.

Regarding the value of the free spins - i also got some and got pretty lucky with them.
The real issue for me is not to win from the spins, but to subsequently clear the winnings to be not bonus money anymore. In any case, they do have some very nice (but also some ugly) slots.

There is no clear requirements in free spins I have got. All winnings are added straight away to the balance.

Haha, so they trust me slightly less than you - but my spins were also not worth as much as yours, only needed 20€ deposit

I don`t think river check is crazy. If he had check-called flop and turn, river bet would be mandatory. But when he raises flop when hero has As and Ks, he often has a bluff (with total air or some spade) or a set with spades etc. But even with 88 + Qhigh flush it doesn`t make sense. That raise should be polarized to nuts or bluff, so it should be straight flush or a bluff. Then he check-calls turn, which should remove most of his bluffs. It would make most sense for him to have straight flush. It makes a bit sense for him to have a Qhigh flush and it makes a bit sense for him to have a top set etc.

River decision is really hard to build mathematically, as his line/ranges is really weird. It SHOULD be hard to get value from non-flush hands.

Definitely make notes, you gave him way too much credit for being a good player. Raising flop with straight flush blocker is not a good strategy, if the plan is to make a high flush fold.

Villain line was x-r flop, bet turn and check river. Yeah it's ballsy play at least to use straight flush blocker like that. It's also dirty spot in our shoes if we assume we can't beat any of villain value range. Ultimately it's kind of same spot as if we had second nut flush and villain goes for this line on flop and turn. There just won't be value in betting river versus check if villain is as polarized as he should be. Only difference being that using nut flush blocker as bluff is going to happen like 10 times more likely. Probably I would have still called river shove as well.

Anyway didn't play any cash today. We were splitting some wood and then burned branches. Was too tired to focus after that. Did play some 10€ husng though and had funny spot where opponent open shoved ATo for 23bb. Genius move which forces me to fold almost every weaker hand and some baby pockets. Had 99 and happened to win that flip.

You cant make notes on Unibet and you can chance aliases freely as often as you want and that's the key here. Hero cant have that much info on opponent, and while he might seem decent player just cant be sure. It is Unibet PLO25 and there is pretty high chance someone could be doing random things and checking practical nuts is torching EV. Only reason to check is if this person has been using the same nick for long and hero remembers that this guy is solidish regular and there is no way he has worse flush and calls.

I dont hate his play actually, little hopeful but he puts hero in a tough spot and has a hand that can improve. Dont know what hero would've done if he went all in with AK spades, it's classical nuts or nothing and do people really bluff with straightflush blockers? :) (that is theorywise and against capable opponents, against random dudes on Unibet it's oc really bad idea)

Checked and weeped. It will be only for PLO crushers i guess :-)
Nah, it will be another country dependent thing, we Belgians get nothing. Giving 50 EUR for free is a huge risk to make us into degenerate gamblers in the goverment eyes

Did they have some sort of high hand promotion?

Nope I suppose it was given perhaps to only people who has raked enough or have been otherwise active users long enough or whatever.

It kind of amazes me how tight some people can really be. This hand went postflop flop checked, x-c turn and river went checked. Very nice for me but how the heck you check that in river in small pot like this?!

Gun shy opponents are often great. Here I defended BB versus SB open, called flop cbet and then it went checked to showdown. Villain flop cbet is imo good but part of why its good is to use future nut blockers with KK to barrel on A, T and 9. WIth turn pot he would have won the hand.

Two quick questions to the PLO professionals:
1) In the beginning of this site (back in 2005), there were two different approaches for NLH: the Short-Stack-Strategy (SSS) with 20 BB Starting Stack at that times and the Big-Stack-Strategy (BSS) with 100BB.
Is there something similar to the SSS for PLO (Minimum Starting Stack is 40BB these days though) ?

2) On Pokerstars, you have the option of cashing-out your equity, when an All-in is reached before the river. Does this option affect your willingness to go broke lighter than you normally would without that option?
