Bit gutted actually I just came 7th in the SuperNova, really close to a big score. Still a nice winning week even without it

I've just returned from the Irish Open, and as always, I had a blast. If you have never been, poker is simply better in Ireland, and the event was particularly fun this year IMO because PokerStars sent 500 players via PowerPath.

I know this, because they very kindly bought 500 copies of Poker Satellite Strategy, one for each qualifier. Dara and I also did a book signing for them:

Nobody has a clue who I am in most UK casinos, but every time I go to Ireland, everyone seems to know me. About 40% because of the books, about 20% just for being Dara's 'teaboy' and this time around another 40% knew me as the 'meme guy' on Twitter.

What was really special was several players had big scores in the main event and attributed our books for helping them get there. I won't name him but one guy pocketed around £20,000 and said he would not have been there were it not for the books.

I am really glad that PokerStars are taking satellites seriously, I really hope that other operators follow suit (in fairness, GG are with the WSOP).

What makes poker in Ireland so special, for me, is not the reported drinking (of which, the rumours are true) but because Irish players understand the game better than most. IMO Irish players are the least likely to complain about bad beats, they just seem to recognise that variance is part of the game, unlike my fellow countrymen (sorry Brits).

I even managed to cash the PLO MTT and have a small winning cash session to leave Ireland up.

100% I will be going next year, the event has improved significantly since PokerStars got involved.

Experimented with cash games for two weeks. It's a shame that I did, because I just had a really good week in MTTs which you can barely see in my P&L. Lesson learned, no more cash games, until next year when I try them again.

Wont be many updates now for 10 days as I am about to take my wife to Rome for her 40th.

Super standard rough week running good hands into better hands and not winning flips, no major bad beats and very happy with how I played.

About to go to Rome on holiday so no updates for a week or so

Great holiday in Rome, was hoping it would lead to me being refreshed at the tables but far from it. I have been sluggish all week and on top of that had a couple of horror show sessions in a row. It's now May and I am basically breakeven for the year which has been very frustrating because I feel like I am playing well. I started the year recording my sessions and reviewing hands the next day, which fell off because of busyness, but as of today I am doing that again. In fact I am going to *try* and review around 100 hands this month to get back on track with that

Super frustrating week at the tables. Lots of near misses, lots of bubbles, lots of final tables where I have a big stack but eventually come 7th. Felt like a losing week so having a small profit is a plus.

Doing OK with my 100 hand reviews in a month goal though

Great wiinning week but once again a lot of near misses and a lot of final table bubbles. Deffo cannot complain but two of three times came super close to a big win.

Been a while since I posted anything other than results so here is one for the fans

Ran like god in satellites this week but just had a horror show of a session in the target tournaments, so it feels like a 'win' to only be down 133.

Think I am going to reduce my table count from 8 to 6, making way too many decisions on autopilot atm

Pleasantly surprised to only be down by €396, really frustrating week again at the tables, I think the story of the year is I have been getting the worse end of it in the big spots like on big bubbles, final table bubbles etc. I have neglected study quite a lot recently too.

Apologies for lack of response lately, we got a second dog and he has been taking up all our time. He is a four year old rescue we call Huey and Arthur is getting along very well with him

He has given me whiplash from pulling too hard on the lead, however.

Poker updates coming soon. I went to the Grosvenor Goliath last week and had KK cracked by QQ for what would have been a chip leader making pot. I stormed off in a bit of a huff, which is quite rare for me. I am off to the UKIPT London tomorrow for their bounty event.
