INITIAL POST
Hello sailors, pokerstrategy, from now PS, it is a wonderful sea when you search on the internet to learn poker (lie, to make money, then you understand that you HAVE TO study and practice). So these days I joined as a silver member for USD 9.00 to see if it will work for me. PS has so much information in all formats that it is a knot and you can't find the end of it to stretch the rope.
I think I found it, in the Strategy tab: https://www.pokerstrategy.com/strategy/weekly-no-limit/
We are in the rough seas of poker, going around in circles in the waters of PS.
My bankroll now after 6 months of opening my account at Bet365 is USD 15.00.-
I have deposited USD 60.00 in total in 6 deposits.
Head towards the light with me!!

Hi dago,

Nice to see that there are still some fresh new players who are putting in the effort. Did you have any experience with poker before you joined Pokerstrategy?

Also, have you seen this overview of NL Hold'em lessons? It should have a little more structure than the one you linked in your opening post. I found it pretty useful back when I was trying to learn NL Hold'em myself, at least.

Are you doing those little quzzes at the end of the lessons too?

Hi Harrier

My poker journey began in my childhood within my family, playing with my father and siblings on sundays. It's a cherished memory. Back then, it wasn't Hold'em; there were no community cards. Unsure what this style would be called, 50 years ago. Later, in the internet era, I discovered Texas Hold'em and played casually on PokerStars, learning through empirical experience.

Having known PS,I initially considered the overview, but found crafting "my opening post" more intuitive for me. Hence, I proceeded with it and share my learning experience with bloggers.
Yes, I do quizzes!! Bad results for now.

Now, as a retired professional,I want to know the knowledge behind of poker. Grateful for your advice; colleagues' experiences are always welcomed.

Thank you, cheers!!

Ah, so you were playing Five Card Draw back then? That game is actually still being offered on Pokerstars, I just wish more people would be playing it...

By the way, have you considered checking out tournament poker, or would you prefer to focus on cash games first?

I'm still starting, I don't know well. Due to the low cost IΒ΄m playing the premium micro cash of 0.02/0.04 at Bet365. Which free tournaments do you suggest for me there?

The only one I found is the freerol $50.00 but it is only once a day. Actually there are 4 times a day but due to the schedule they don't work for me (GMT -4 summer time).

I'm not familiar with the schedule on Bet365, sorry.

Freerolls help with early bankroll building and can be a good way to get a feel for poker if you are completely new, though you seem to be somewhat familiar with Hold'em already. Also, keep in mind that your opponents in freerolls don't necessarily act like your opponents in paid entry tournaments would.

If Bet365 offers SNGs, I expect they are still a pretty beginner-friendly format, but I would assume that traffic is probably not that good in there. At least that's my experience these days on most sites outside of Pokerstars.

All that being said, it would be perfectly fine to skip tournament poker altogether for the time being and focus on cash only first. Some might even say it's preferable that way, because both of these formats require a different strategy. Still, you will probably want to check out both at one point, just to see which format you like better.

IΒ΄ll stick with micro cash games for now. Later on, I can look into strategies for paid tournaments.

Thank you!!

I remember that this was the part where I was starting to struggle a little, back when I went through the lessons.
