If I bet what am I getting value from? There is not much that can call that I dominate, maybe a Q. If I check and UTG or BU shove then their range, especially UTG would be very trips or better heavy. They have will have some random bluffs but I'm not sure how to quantify/calculate that to check the equities. I use PPT and so if I assume his range is: 4,qq for value, and for bluffs :Q$ds then I have 32% eq. Problem is that is not realistic. They could bluff randomly with any hand and so it's hard to see how much overall equity I have vs his overall range (value and bluffs). Simple check on flop and delay c-bet on blank turns. I feel like this is the optimal play MW or even HU. Final note I think having a FD here actually hurts more, especially 3♥ because that's the main hand class that we dominate and get value from, and that can call a shove.
Now you are thinking about your exact hand only. That is all good but let's think about other hands you could have here as well. For example AKs you decide to 3-bet. That is a hand you are going to bluff here. AA is your value hand and you are going to play both of them the same way. Why? The reason is that you want to maximize the value you are getting from other players but also make their life a bit tougher because they can not know if you are betting for value or bluffing.
So how to play this hand? There are 3 key points to notice. First the spr is only 1. Secondly the pair on the flop is a really small one so it's quite unlikely anyone has trips. Lastly you have a nutflushdraw and a pair of aces. As you mentioned, it could be difficult to get value from worse hands as you are blocking the draws. At the same time it is also a good thing because with the draws combined to low spr you can always bet-call the flop without making a mistake.
With this low spr potting the flop could be standard play, but I assume if spr would be little higher betting 30-40% of the pot would be advised. I'm not a 4-card pro, but I would still go for a 30-40% bet here trying to exploit my opponents to do something stupid.
Main thing to learn here is to play bluffs and value the same way. And because you want to bet bluffs on a board like this, you are also going to bet for value. The size of the bet is less important. So if you decide to pot this, you should also pot your bluffs.
With this low SPR we can go really small like 20% cbet or alternatively pot as two sizing approach. Good thing in low SPR is also that villains probably wont fold any fd. This hand definitely wants to go small with all the support it has and blocking stuff from opponents ranges.
I´d bet sth. like 20-30% here but you can also just pot it. Betting small has the advantage of mixing in some bluffs against fit-fold players and with potting has the "best playbility". Just don´t fold it lol
Hehe, I'm going through a bit of a down swing, at least I hope it's a down swing ♦, so I'm starting to second guess stuff. My initial thoughts were that this is a simple GII situation. But after getting in vs trips, I started thinking about the road not taken ♦. Small 25% bet is probably best with this hand, but I is till wonder if they shove are bluff shoving enough to make this a profitable call. I also block :Kx::Kx: which is not ideal.
