Weekly update no. 85

Played from 24.06.2024 to 30.06.2024

Hello everyone, :welcome:

Last week I only had two days during the week that I played, I wanted to catch up with the study part and I will do that also for most of this week. Sunday I decided to play the Mystery Bounty Series event 48 and the mini main event. In the first one I finished 1878th with 1271 getting into the money and a chance at some mystery bounties.

In the Mini Main I managed to qualify via a $0.55 satellite that I played on Sunday (I like to play a lot this $0.33 and $0.55 because they offer good profit :f_biggrin: especially if you late reg. ). The thing that I did not like was the 4 hours late reg.

Unfortunately I got kicked out when I called a 4-bet all in with AQs vs a pair of Jacks, and since it was late I did not wanted to re-enter. So this week was a slow one, but I will be back to full grind in no time :f_biggrin:

The bankroll starting this week is:

Played from 24.06.2024 to 30.06.2024

Starting Bankroll: T$1000.50
Last week Bankroll: $3149.72
Current Bankroll: $3142.23

Profit from last update: - $7.49

Goal: $10 000

Take care everyone and good luck at the tables. :gl:

I am new to poker and I wasn't able to have significant gains. Do you have any advice on how I can increase my gains and what did you buy with the money that you raised?

I've played poker for a few years, and I managed to turn $2,000 into $40,000. Here are some tips that helped me increase my gains: You must learn poker strategies from books and videos. Also, manage your money well, and do not play with what you can't afford to lose. This is very important. At first, I didn't consider this, and I lost a lot of money and even got into debt. At start, play with low-stakes games to gain experience, then move up as you improve.
With my winnings, I bought myself a Dodge Challenger. I found a great deal online. For more details, check this article: https://www.a1autotransport.com/. It might help you.

Hi marcunek, :welcome:

I also started with $0 in my poker account, and by playing freerolls I managed to get from $0 to $1000+.....I started My First Challenge when I had $36.48 that I raised them from playing freerolls. Freerolls are a very good way to build your bankroll, sadly Pokerstars have removed the freerolls that give $ as prizes, but I can say that GGPoker are doing a great job with there daily free gifts....also 888Poker have a lot of nice freerolls and there is very easy to build a bankroll.

My advice to you is to play freerolls until you have minimum $50 into your account after that start with $1 tournaments, or if you like cash games play 1cent/2cents and move up from there. You need to have a strict bankroll management ( some say that my BM is too tight, but have at least 50 to 100 buy-ins ).

Also you need to have a plan for study part, because you will not get far if you do not study poker. For a person like me that is not doing this for a living I study about 30 hours a month, that includes the tournament hands reviews.

At the end of my first challenge I had $1000 in tournament money (that you can not withdraw ) and I had $600 in cash...that I did got out of my account. That money paid the rent that month and I had a nice dinner out with my wife. :f_cool:

Like I said I have another income other then poker but is always nice to have extra.

Hope you have a nice day and good luck in your journey...PS: Start a bankroll challenge because the feedback from the community will benefit you greatly.

Played from 01.07.2024 to 07.07.2024

Hello everyone, :welcome:

Sorry for the late update, I was reviewing my tournaments from last weeks GGPoker MicroFestival _tongue: . It was a very fun event, but now it's back to Pokerstars for the MicroMillions. :f_love:

Last week it was a study week mostly, until Sunday when I saw that MicroMillions is starting and I played two events. I played the $11 PKO Sunday Special, and the Sunday Storm event, unfortunately I did not get any good results. On Sunday Storm I had my AA cracked by 99, and lost most of my stack and didn't managed to get back in the game. :f_eek:

It was a short week of games, but I plan this week to play every day, and hope for a big score since it is a while since I had a really nice result. 🀞

The Bankroll is still taking small hits:

Played from 01.07.2024 to 07.07.2024

Starting Bankroll: T$1000.50
Last week Bankroll: $3142.23
Current Bankroll: $3118.88

Profit from last update: - $23.35

Goal: $10 000

Take care everyone and have a nice week. :f_thumbsup:

Hi everyone, :welcome:

This week will not be any update since my HM3 is screwed and is not importing tournament summaries. I raise a ticket to HM3 support and they recognized that this is a known issue for the latest update.

Here is one decent result that I had this week in MicroMillions.

Here is also the ticket with HM3 team. I did what they suggested and I got all my hands history and tournaments since I had my account. And OMG it f**** everything, after 2 hours of importing. I saw my first tournaments played in 2010 :mdr::mdr::mdr:

So I will have to redo everything now to get my database back from when I started this Challenge.

Hi everyone, :welcome:

Still no update for the ticket on HM3 above but I managed to track all the tournaments that I played during this period, so I will make a summary from that :transpire:

On Monday 8th I played the daily MicroMillion $11 that started at 21:00 PM my time, in that one I qualified first time via a $1.45 Hyper- Turbo 4 max Shootout....I got out on that hand when I overplayed my AJs and I got called by 33, after that I got qualified again via same satellite, but the second time my pair of 10s did not have a change against AQo....it was a 3-way all in preflop. TT vs KQs vs AQo and the A came on the flop. :f_mad: The next day I played only 1 tournament the $1.10 MicroMillions and I finished 914 th in the money for a min cash, this one was a Mystery tournament.

On the 10th there was a tournament that had a nice Hyper-Turbo 4-max Shootout satellite when you will buy-in with $0.85 and the 3rd place will win $2.28 and that was a nice way to print money :f_p: so I took advantage of that and played some satellites and finished mostly on 3rd, also I qualified for the $11 Daily MicroMillions tournament but I got unlucky on this hand. ( Also I played it poorly )

For the rest of the week I played only some freerolls until the weekend came. On Saturday I played the $11 Saturday Special and got some nice bounties and a cash place ( see the photo in post above :f_grin: ), also I played some $1.10 and $3.30 MicroMillions events and got some small cashes. Sunday I played the $11 Sunday Special and Sunday Storm but both where a bust. :f_frown: Even though I played good poker the luck factor is not on my side this days.

This last week started good with me getting a $11 Sunday Million satellite from the Pokerstars Twitch Freeroll, I did played it into the ones that gave daily 100 placed Gtd, I got out before the money places but this one is on me.....I played really poor poker, chasing draws and making hero calls when I should not have. :f_mad:

On Wednesday I played 3 MicroMillions events: $5.50 Big knockouts, in this one I late reg and started with 15BB and I was out in this hand:

PokerStars - 300/600 Ante 75 NL (8 max) - Holdem - 8 players

BTN shows 9♣: A♦:: (High Card, Ace)
(Pre 63%, Flop 71%, Turn 86%)

BTN wins 18,510

Next is the $11 Wednesday Special in which I qualified via $1.45 Hyper and managed to get some bounties but I got out when there where 300 places until the money bubble.

Also I played the $1.10 MicroMillions but in that one I got out really quick. I called an 98BB like a moron with AJ agains 55 and the BB overshoved for the rest of the chips 25BB with AA and I called and I was out. :sorry::sorry::sorry: Played really really poor this week in some tournaments.

After that I did not played until Saturday, for the $11 Saturday Special but that ended 3 hands in when I raised from UTG2 with QQ and HJ shoved 135BB with AA and I called, so that was that.

On Sunday I qualified via $2.85 ticket to the MicroMillions main event, first bullet was over again because of my stupidity calling against a fish an all in with J9s on a J high board and he turn a pair of AA. :sifflote::sifflote: But the second time I managed to play ok and I got to cash into the Main.

Starting this week the bankroll is still going down and the bad run is still going....I have fault in this as well, I can't blame it only on bad luck.

Played from 08.07.2024 to 21.07.2024

Hello everyone, :welcome:

This week has a very slow one, ( I feel like I'm letting you guys down :sorry: ) it seems that GGPoker is taking more and more time from me daily. The tournaments are really nice there and also the fact that there are tournaments to be played at any hour it makes things easy. I can choose the time I want to play and no mater the time there is still a tournament to play. This week I played daily on the $15 Mini Special and also I played some daily $54 Daily Main (nice ones where on Sunday _biggrin: )

But I made a schedule to get back and put more hours on Pokerstars. I think I will play only 3-4 tournaments daily but this way I can have a steady schedule, and I feel I can move forward with this challenge.

This week on Monday I won an $11 Sunday Million satellite ticket from the Twitch freeroll. Sadly I was an idiot on Thursday when I decided to play the satellite....here is the hand:

PokerStars - 20/40 Ante 5 NL (8 max) - Holdem - 8 players
Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3

BTN: 3,258 (81.5 bb)
SB: 3,964 (99.1 bb)
Hero (BB): 2,995 (74.9 bb)
UTG: 2,811 (70.3 bb)
UTG+1: 4,616 (115.4 bb)
MP: 5,625 (140.6 bb)
MP+1: 3,233 (80.8 bb)
CO: 6,498 (162.5 bb)

8 players post ante of 5, SB posts 20, Hero posts BB 40

Pre Flop: (pot: 100) Hero has 5♠: A♥:
4 folds, CO raises to 120, BTN calls 120, fold, Hero calls 80

Flop: (420, 3 players) 7♥: A♠: 4♦:
Hero checks, CO bets 250, fold, Hero calls 250

Turn: (920, 2 players) 2♠:
Hero checks, CO bets 540, Hero calls 540

River: (2,000, 2 players) Q♦:
Hero checks, CO bets 5,583 and is all-in, Hero calls 2,080 and is all-in

Results: 6,160 pot (0 rake)
Final Board: 7♥: A♠: 4♦: 2♠: Q♦:

CO shows 9♥: A♣:: (One Pair, Aces)
(Pre 67%, Flop 78%, Turn 84%)

Hero shows 5♠: A♥:: (One Pair, Aces)
(Pre 33%, Flop 22%, Turn 16%)

CO wins 6,160

I don't know how I keep doing this stupid things. :f_mad::f_mad::f_mad::why::facepalm::spit:

After that I only played on Sunday when I tried to qualify to Sunday Fenomeno but I finished 17th with 10 places to get a ticket. :(

So since I did not payed any entry fees this week the Bankroll is still the same:

Played from 22.07.2024 to 28.07.2024

Starting Bankroll: T$1000.50
Last week Bankroll: $3068.59
Current Bankroll: $3068.59

Profit from last update: $0

Goal: $10 000

Take care everyone and have a nice week. :gl:

Hello everyone, :welcome:

Sorry for not posting for two weeks on this challenge I have been really busy with work. ( made a big change in that department ). I told you last time that I made a schedule in order to play more on Pokerstars, that schedule went out the window the moment that I got the job call :mdr::mdr:

I did play some freerolls and won some Sunday Million satellites tickets, but I did not qualified to Sunday tournament.

I did get some small results in some micro buy-ins tournaments :transpire: but I did not saved the pictures from them since it wasn't that big :sifflote:

This week from Thursday on since is a nation holiday in Romania and I have 4 days off I will be gone and I will not play poker at all, so the next update will be at the end of the month and will include the last two weeks of August. I will prepare for the upcoming WCOOP event and let's hope I can end this 5 months without a decent result. :gl:

Since what I played where most tournaments tickets that I won from freerolls the bankroll hasn't moved that much.

Hello everyone, :welcome:

Sorry for the late update, I was away for most of the month and did not get to play much poker. I had some time away from poker and this challenge. Mostly when I got to play I played late at night and only some freerolls. I went back to the roots and studied the basics and also reviewed some of the tournaments played in order to get ready for the month of September and WCOOP.

I do plan to play a lot of WCOOP events, most of them will be below $20, and I plan also to play the Low Main Event. I will try to qualify via 1 satellite to the event that I want to play daily and if I do not get a ticket that way I will buy-in directly (I don't want to waste my bankroll on satellites ).

Hello everyone, :welcome:

This week was a preparation for the WCOOP that I will play this month _cool: . I played only some freerolls that where giving away tickets to WCOOP ( EPT stream freerolls ) and managed to get my hands on one $5.50 ticket.

For the rest of the week I studied and tried to improve my game and my state of mind. On Sunday I was planning to play the WCOOP 02 - L and the WCOOP 03 - L but I did not get home in time. :sorry: :transpire: I will be playing only tournament that are 8-9 handed, no short handed tournaments for me, and I will try to qualify via satellite one time only (after that I will buy-in directly ).

Yesterday I played the WCOOP 11-L :f_biggrin: , and the plan for today is to play the WCOOP 13-L and maybe the $27 WCOOP Edition: Daily Eliminator. Like I said earlier I will not play tournaments bigger then $22, other then the Main Event. ( I don't want to blow my bankroll )

Since I played only Freerolls this week the Bankroll is still the same.

Played from 2.09.2024 to 08.09.2024

Wish me luck and lets all have a great WCOOP. :f_thumbsup:

No problem at all, and thanks for the update! It sounds like you’ve used your time away from poker productively, focusing on the fundamentals and analyzing past tournaments, which is a great strategy. It’s good to hear that you’re preparing thoroughly for the upcoming WCOOP events.

Focusing on events below $20 and aiming for the Low Main Event seems like a solid plan. It’s smart to use satellites to try to qualify for larger events but being prepared to buy in directly if needed is a prudent approach to managing your bankroll.

I’m excited to hear about your progress and hope you achieve that first WCOOP win you’re aiming for. It’s always thrilling to compete in such prestigious tournaments and see how your hard work pays off.

Best of luck in the WCOOP series, and I hope the month of September brings you great results at the tables. Looking forward to hearing more about your journey and achievements!

Cheers and good luck! πŸƒπŸŽ‰

Hi everyone, :welcome:

Sorry for the late update but I needed a break after a cruel Sunday on GGPoker...I will bring the weekly update tomorrow.

Here is just one of the hands that took a toll on me and made me take 2 days off. This is the weekly $54 Bounty Hunters Main Event ($1 milion GTD), the smaller version of "Sunday Million " but on GGPoker.

Hello everyone, :welcome:

WCOOP started this week and I played my first event on the 9th. I played the event 11-L unfortunately I did not get into the money places and did not get any bounty either, then I played the WCOOP 19-L, I late reg starting with 30BB and lost most of it AJ vs AQ and managed to build my stack back up until I called an all in with QJs and got K.O. Played also some regular tournaments but ( WCOOP edition ).

Then I played the WCOOP 24-L and WCOOP 26-L but still no results there either. In the Mystery Bounty event I got out after this hand:

PokerStars - 700/1400 Ante 175 NL (8 max) - Holdem - 7 players
Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3

CO: 148,612 (106.2 bb)
BTN: 89,219 (63.7 bb)
Hero (SB): 94,863 (67.8 bb)
BB: 114,369 (81.7 bb)
UTG: 58,433 (41.7 bb)
UTG+1: 102,340 (73.1 bb)
MP: 87,962 (62.8 bb)

7 players post ante of 175, Hero posts SB 700, BB posts 1,400

Pre Flop: (pot: 3,325) Hero has 9♥: 9♦:
2 folds, MP raises to 2,940, 2 folds, Hero calls 2,240, BB calls 1,540

Flop: (10,045, 3 players) A♦: 5♣: 9♠:
Hero checks, BB checks, MP checks

Turn: (10,045, 3 players) 8♥:
Hero bets 7,534, BB calls 7,534, fold

River: (25,113, 2 players) K♣:
Hero bets 18,835, BB raises to 103,720 and is all-in, Hero calls 65,379 and is all-in

Results: 193,541 pot (0 rake)
Final Board: A♦: 5♣: 9♠: 8♥: K♣:

BB shows 6♥: 7♠:: (Straight, Nine High)
(Pre 16%, Flop 15%, Turn 77%)

Hero shows 9♥: 9♦:: (Three of a Kind, Nines)
(Pre 84%, Flop 85%, Turn 23%)

BB wins 193,541

I should have thought that he can have that hand.

Saturday I played the WCOOP 32-L and I managed to get my first bounties :f_biggrin: but still didn't get a better result. I got out in this hand:

PokerStars - 600/1200 Ante 150 NL (8 max) - Holdem - 8 players
Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3

BB: 25,211 (21 bb)

Hero (MP+1): 19,077 (15.9 bb)
CO: 192,340 (160.3 bb)
BTN: 22,703 (18.9 bb)
SB: 21,605 (18 bb)

8 players post ante of 150, SB posts 600, BB posts 1,200

Pre Flop: (pot: 3,000) Hero has Q♥: Q♣:
2 folds, MP raises to 2,400, Hero raises to 18,927 and is all-in, fold, BTN raises to 22,553 and is all-in, 2 folds, MP calls 20,153

Flop: (67,033, 3 players) 9♠: 9♣: 6♥:

Final Board: 9♠: 9♣: 6♥: J♠: 2♥:

MP shows 6♦: 6♣:: (Full House, Sixes full of Nines)
Main Pot: [59,781]: (Pre 19%, Flop 82%, Turn 86%)
Side Pot: [7,252]: (Pre 54%, Flop 98%, Turn 90%)

BTN shows J♦: A♣:: (Two Pair, Jacks and Nines)
Main Pot: [59,781]: (Pre 24%, Flop 1%, Turn 5%)
Side Pot: [7,252]: (Pre 46%, Flop 2%, Turn 10%)

Hero shows Q♥: Q♣:: (Two Pair, Queens and Nines)
Main Pot: [59,781]: (Pre 57%, Flop 17%, Turn 10%)

MP wins 67,033

Still can get out of this bad phase I'm in, nothing seems to hold. :f_cry: It has to end at some point :transpire:

Hello everyone, :welcome:

The weekly update will be next week after the WCOOP Main Event. Last week, I played almost every day in at least one WCOOP event, but this week I haven’t played since there were fewer $11 events that fit into my schedule.

I will bring the two weekly updates after the Main Event.

Good luck and have a great day! :gl:

Two Year Update

Hello everyone, :welcome:

Today marks the 2 years since I first started this challenge :f_biggrin: and it was a nice one. I started with T$ 1000 and tried to make my way up to $10000, but mostly I wanted to improve and see if I can make this "hobby" a second profession. I wanted to see what it takes to make it in poker and during this journey of mine I gain huge respect for those who make this for a living. The amount of work you have to put into is insane and I don't mean only time to play, but to study, to have a balance in your life that allows you to grind months and months and to have that mental strength to do it....now I realize why the guys that are on top a rewarded like they are....the sacrifices that they do along the way are huge.

This year was a huge year for me in my personal life and I do think that do to some important stuff that happened in my life this challenge had to suffer...I did not put the same amount of work like last year and that is reflecting into my performance. The goal was to get to $10 000 before the end of this second year, but unfortunately as you all know that has not happened. Since I don't earn my living from poker that goal was a ambitious goal to keep me motivated (and it had a nice ring to it :f_cool: :mdr: ).

There where multiple factors that made me put less hours into this challenge and a big one is the downfall of Pokerstars.....I do believe that this platform made some bad changes, that made me move more to playing on GGPoker. They still have some nice tournaments most of them on Thursdays and weekends, but for the rest of the week I do believe that for me the right choice is GGPoker right now.

Even 888Poker with their changes and improvements got me putting more hours on that platform then Stars....for those who what to start fresh, 888Poker if you have access to it, is a go to for the new players. :f_thumbsup:

Now as you all know the WCOOP is at the end now, and my journey with this year series is over and not in a good way, I played some events and got some min cashes but nothing important, the part that I'm sad is that I did not have the time to play the main event...:f_cry: but I was sad to see that for the first time in their long history, WCOOP Mains barely hit their GTD prize polls _frown: . ( And from what I saw Pokerstars gave away a lot of free tickets and had some satellites with mad overlays ). This is one of the things that I was sad about that I could not play those satellites.

What is next for this challenge???

The plan is to make it to the finish line and I plan to complete my goal[/i]....the problem is that I need to rethink the way I do it. Meaning I have to change my schedule of tournaments that I will play and try to identify the tournaments that make sense for me. I think that I will put more hours on the weekends and during the week I will play less, I really don't know exactly what and how I'm going to do it.

So at the end of this two years the bankroll got from T$1000 to $2866.12 Not the best, I feel like I could have done better. :sorry:

Played from 16.09.2024 to 30.09.2024

Starting Bankroll: T$1000.50
Last week Bankroll: $2950.12
Current Bankroll: $2866.12

Profit from last update: - $84.00

Goal: $10 000

I have some ideas that I want to run by you guys ( all of you that read this thread of mine ).....what do you what to see from me next?

1. Finish this challenge. ( this may take a while with some new changes and the way I run lately :mdr: :sifflote: )
2. Start a new one :sifflote:

Spoiler

(showing you what is the best platform to start as a new player - starting from scratch)

Whatever comes next and what we decide to do next I want to let you all know that I appreciate all the interaction and all the replies from each one of you. Thank you πŸ™
