In general, though, I always like to at least have some background noise whenever I'm playing poker.
I'm also not sure how well folding into the money will work in super turbos. I think they are all just about knowing the ranges and pushing hard since the beginning when you are ahead. Variance will be huge, but with no money at stake and plenty of available freerolls, it should all work out eventually through volume.
The reason I advocate doing something on the side is that in terms of $/hour the freerolls are a complete waste of time. You need to have something going on that makes your time give a return. Whatever that is — right now I'm answering forum posts while a $125 is running on the side. I have folded al lbut one hand — which I lost. I'll now open-shove the first hand I get that stands a chance of winning.
I have folded into the money on several occasions, and I've also joined multi-way all-ins on the first hand. Some I won.
Ranges: Opponents in these generally don't have them — at least not sensible ones.
