Pokerstars is totally rigged, the same downswing happens to everyone. U get a few money for a while and than suddenly u cant win a freaking 1$ sng . It really discourages you , making u feel like u dont know crap about poker.
Its simple... Pokerstars should be called - Riverstars
And motto should be:
River - will deliver! ![]()
just dont play for 2-3 days at stars and then come back... all of sudden everything plays quite differently
Yesterday I played the longest session. Reason - in an hour or so I lost 13-15BI (personal record
), and I was curious how far it may go. Fortunately for me PS gods changed focus a little and I finished only 5BI down. Most memorable moments:
Got 99 on two neighboring tables. Suddenly won both. 2 tables with double stack. Immediately on one got JJ and go all-in, on second had AQ and got Q on the flop (TPTK). Result - lost 4BI in 1 minute. JJ ran into QQ, and against AQ the Villain collected straight.
Next is PS special:
Check on BB with 22 with 2 limpers.
Flop 268.
Raised 3BB, got resistance from both, went all-in, another guy also all-in, showdown: other guy shows 66 and another 88. Triple sets flom flop ![]()
For miracles don't go to magic shows, but play on PokerStars ♦
What site do you guys recommend? Except PokerStars and Ipoker ( which is the same as pokerstars. maybe even worse). I've tried them all and it seems there all the same, or maybe Im just not good at poker ( funny, im good for a while and then I suddenly I suck) .
"in an hour or so I lost 13-15BI (personal record ), and I was curious how far it may go."
What! So you were prepared to loose your BR, just to see how far it would go?
In my opinion PS is the top site to play on and you just have to learn to take the shit that comes with playing on the biggest site. All the other sites are the same, you receive a couple of bad beats, its then rigged and the worst site to play on.

maybe you are just lucky (rather than good) for a while? ♦
None of these sites is rigged...except if you're losing........
I wasn't lucky, I was good, I am good. At least I was better than the other players I played against. 90% of the time I lost with card worse than mine.

Theoretically yes
I knew I was not on tilt, and still had some reserve, so can I be curious to see, if some big force wants me out of PS? And on my limit (NL10) losing a bankroll is not a tragedy by any means ♦
BTW my rundown continues, and now I'm 8BI down from my best point. Same old: premium hands are often not paid or underpaid, but when losing I often pay in full instead.
Just sample from yesterday's session: on freeplays I got 1 full house, 2 straights and once 2 pairs. Great luck you say. Result in plays 50%. In money -1.5BI. Got pennies when won, and lost 2 stacks to flushes. But at least I know I'm not ready for BSS
One more memorable PS play:
Hero in BB with AQ. BU raises, Hero all-in (thought it's a steal), BU calls and shows AK.
Flop-Turn-River (exact sequence): 7 8 9 T J.
Hero won with straight Q-high

I still think that pokerrooms probably are not rigged. But some events from few latest sessions make me think again and again.
First - I got unexpectedly high possibility of getting playable (and losing) hand when I have enhanced to double stack. I mean Unexpectedly High! Sometimes you wait minutes to play anything on 6 tables, but the moment you won something, probabilities change.
With 36BI got KK. Got resistance, went all-in against (you know it!) AA.
Flop K 8 3 ![]()
Turn A ![]()
River A ![]()
After this I started closing tables, where I won, immediately. Until..
Have 40BB, got AK. What can I do - raise 4BB. Collected blinds. OK, I though, normal way. IMMEDIATELY after got AQ there, put 4BB raise got one caller, got A ( I didn't see Aces for my Ax hands for long-long time) and lost to AK. Oops.
To add fun, I had AQ at the other table at same time, also got A on the flop (how cynical), and lose stack to AK. Oh yeah.
Also I got another encounter AA vs KK. Fortunately (I mean it
) I won with AA, but does it seem too often? AA vs KK almost 100% showdown and big rake....
Yesterday watched Poker After Dark. It just proves again that The fundamental theorem of poker needs some refinement. Really it should say:
If your Ace hand gets paired or better, you win, if your opponents Ace hand gets no support, he loses.
Other not so fundamental, but important theorem is: in real life KK hand is rather close to AK: on showdown be prepared to less than 50% win rate - either it will go against AA, or there will be Ace on the board much more often than supposed by any probabilities.
Yesterday PS helps me to set another personal (anti-)record. On first table lost 2 opening games - exactly 40BB - to the same guy
On first play lost JJ to KQ, in second KJ with K on the flop to K3, both time villain collected 2 pairs. Getting trash hand on 3rd play of the day, I decided that this record for now is enough ![]()
Despite same well-known tricks again (like many playable hands on enhanced stack or when you closing everything), still finished this session and September in +. Don't know if it's my skill or PS returning some debts. Even my KK won against 33
With this support of PS this blog probably soon will move to 'Our successes' section
PS is teasing me. Bad beat after cooler, and still finished weekend in little +. Either most of real downswings happen because of tilt, or I'm scared to see it ♦
Few highlites:
Lost all my first 3 JJ hands (one again on double stack
), and all to higher pairs: 2xKK and QQ. Also lost 2 AA in a row and 3 of last 4 - on one collected blinds. Got no Aces to Ax hands yesterday, and usual little support through all weekend.
On freeplay again lost few 2-pairs hands. If you're in freeplay with few players - 2 pairs are not nuts! And if Villain is betting/reraising hard - often he has a reason.
Loose-passive players are the best
On one table got AK and then AQ against same opponent, got nothing from board (as usual
), c-bet -check-check, and won both, because he couldn't collect anything either...
This lost play made my Friday:
Had AK, was reraised, went all in against T9.
Flop XX9, Turn K, River 9. Simple but pretty.
Next play shows advantage of SSS:
Im MP1 has AQ, and one limper before. raise 5BB. Blinds dropped, limper called.
Flop KKQ. Limper checked, I made my c-bet, limper called.
Turn Q. Nice hand or road to disaster? Limper made a big bet. What to do here if you have big stack? But with SSS I only risk half of my short stack :)Easy call - Villain shows AA
Rare case when you're happy to see Pocket Rockets in Villain hands ![]()
River 8, and I got some revenge for lost AAs.
Slowplay is only good on TV.
Again small - despite personal winning record, as jacks returned some of their debt. With 26BB stack JJ won all-in against T9 and AK, and for few secs I had 76BB stack ![]()
On next such stack probably will try my first BSS round.
This happened not on PS, but on the site I don't even want to mention ![]()
Now I can say I saw a good chunk of the real Downswing. In 2 hours I lost almost half of my bankroll, down 250 BB. During this stretch I lost ALL showdowns. 100%. There were some blinds won, and even few calls, but of course these were pennies compared to lost stacks.
Most memorable moments "with a little help from my friends"
3. Nice flop. All folded, SB completes, Hero with K2 on BB checks. Flop KJ2. I told you 2 pairs are not nuts, but here against one opponent? SB raises, BB re-raises, SB push Hero all-in and shows KJ.
2. Nice turn and river. AQ+Q on flop against 67. Turn 7, river 7.
1. The "best" river you may get ♦
Hero's 99 against KT. Flop QJX, turn X, river 9! Finally I got a set! Why did I want to shove this set into somebody's a..?
PokerStarz, please forgive me for some previous improper comments
damn poger8, you seem to be getting the worst of it right now....on the + side you're not tilting from the hands ive seen and thats the hallmark of any good poker player in the long term. Just keep going, remember variance is a bitch so ride it when on the up and slow down when shes in a foul mood, we don't get any when she's like that
Wow... If I had that many nasty beats in such a short period, I'd .... lol
But I don't since I play tournaments ♦
Anyway, keep grinding! It'll work out!

These guys still recognize themselves and revenge in style.
Today I play my first tournament - restricted freeroll from them. Only 100+ players, good chances to win something.
My whole tournament - or Every Hand Revealed (a la Gus Hansen
)
1. 24 mucked.
2. JQs limp in, no support on flop, dropped.
3. KK, raise 4 BB, got call from BU and reraise from BB from guy who always bets. As people advices made a call, BU also calls
Flop 679, BB bets, I reraise, BU folds, BB pushed me all-in. BB shows 55. I'm a clear favorite or what?
Turn 8
Three and out
Looks like I'm leaving this nice site also, while I still have something to take with me...
I would have re-raised pre-flop with 2 players in the action. The less action early on, the better IMO.
No luck for me in MTT. I never played any before, but yesterday played another special freeroll, second in 2 days. This was on PS, and progress was evident, as now I played for 20 mins, and even passed few thousands of more unlucky players ♦ Still some unknown forces "help" me in following showdown:
I'm all-in with AK against AQ and A8. Flop and turn - nothing, on river finally comes K - exactly one that also completes AQ flush ![]()
No more tourneys for me soon, especially that for some reason in additions to early exits, I also had two gloomy and losing sessions that days.
