Sometimes you come across the situation where you raise from some position, then someone else 3-bets and another person caps.
The question is: when and with which hands of the ORC do you give your hand up preflop already or do you always call the extra 2 bets?
Obviously this depends on the type of opponents as well, so let's keep things simple and assume that they are standard TAGs. Has there ever been done any research in this area already? If not, how do you guys handle this then?
I think pokerstove is the key here. The 2nd important issue is playability.
Suppose you raise UTG, HJ 3bet then SB caps. All this raises are real ones : you raise UTG (TAG range is quite narrow), the HJ 3bets you (this is a smaller range). Finally, SB caps you 2 while being OOP.
SB is on AQs+,AKo,TT+
HJ is on AJo+,KQs,ATs+,88+
You have 2SB to call and the money you contest is 2+4+4+1 =9SB (you already invest 2SB, HJ will call the cap for sure, SB cap + 1BB), so you have 5:1 or 16,7%
Now equilate the hand you can call with ATo :

So ATo should be a hand to be folded
With AJo you have 16,5%, so it depends on your mood and rake.
AQo+ is OK
Suprisigly, KJo+ is OK regarding equity (KTo is also good but should'nt be open-raised UTG). However KJo suffers from bad RIO and you can fold it.
Any pocket pair is good and get good implied odds, so I go for a call.
All suited hands are also good.
summary :
My opening range is 66+,ATo,KJo,A8s,KTs,QTs,JTs,T9s. If I'm 3bet then capped, I guess my calling range looks something like 66+,AQo,KQo,KTs,QTs,JTs,T9s.

For others who want to know (after testing a few more situations myself): in general you can call any suited cards and any pair on any position against a cap. Only a few of the worst offsuit cards of the ORC range from your position could/should be folded.
