i would play call flop donk/ 3-bet turn u dont have to protect its all about value here and with 3-betting the flop u generate a lot of foldequity which u do not really want.

how about check-raise turn? Lots of people at that limit arent agressive enough to raise after being donked.

the risk of being checked through would be too high with my quads like u said people are not very aggressive. 3-betting flop will shut down the action and checking turn is too risky imo and could give up some value.

Yeah, I'm definately against 3betting flop, but how about if an ace hit the turn? A 4? A diamond? Any of these could be scarecards, and the diamond could have made someone a very, very expensive second best hand. I think a check/raise keeps BB in the hand, and traps the field for another bet (if he didn't 3bet the flop, BB bets turn, CO calls, you raise, both call). The c/r here is worth 4 bets to you, while the donk is worth 1-2. I'm pretty sure someone will bet out these "scare cards" more than the 45% of the time it would take for this to be a profitable move (depends what you call the chances of 1 player folding to a donk, it's been known to happen).

Okay i aggree since BB showed aggression on flop he will most likely bet the turn and with CO calling we can extract more value most of the time and the risk of being checked through on turn should be about maybe 10% maximum so a turn c/r is +ev

its very hard to predict how to get most value out of this hand.

Obviously it is good to bet the flop as no one will suspect a 7 on your hand because on this level everyone would slowplay his trips.
The raise of BB could be either protection when he flopped a pair of 4 or he wants to represent a 7 and win the pot immediatly.
As Co coldcalls two bets, he is probably on an expensive draw ( flush or straight ), so he will give you value at least until the river.

So how will we get value from BB?
3betting the flop alerts BB that you have a strong hand ( a least an overpair ) and he will lay down his hand unimproved on the turn.

If you simply call the flop and donkbet the turn and both villains call, you will get the same value as 3 betting the flop. ( Dont checkraise the turn. The risk is too high that everyone checks behind and you lose two value bets).

So the decision is very though here between 3betting flop or donking turn, but i would still donk the turn as we could get an additional value bet on the river from BB.

Thx...next time around I'll try your ideas.... :rolleyes:

@liverdracon

do u really think the risk of being checked through is that high that it wouldnt be worth trying to get the chance of raising the turn? My first thought was call flop donk turn too but like emu said a turn c/r would bring in some extra bets from drawing hands

If any of the cards I mentioned hits the board, it's not getting checked through. Thus I suggest the c/r, for those situations, not for general purposes.

@ last emu

the 9 is not a scary card, with a flush card check raise would be a good option, but my comment was refering to board

@emrah999
like I said before, it is hard to predict what the villains are going to do.
I doubt that dramaqueen has any reads on her opponents, so therefore I suggested playing straightforward
On the other hand she is still learning by doing, so in the beginning it is better to avoid tricky play. Of course thats my opinion.

so u say if u have 2 lags sitting behind a c/r is an option, vs. unknown just donk and hope for some action, and i definitely agree that beginners and even intermediats should play str8forward.
sounds good.

I'm just covering every base, liver ;) The idea behind posting a single hand isn't to know the exact situation by heart, it is to better understand a general concept. His general concept was the best play when holding the near untouchable nuts, and thus we have to explain how the situation would differ, should the turn bring something else. This EXACT situation will probably never happen again, so it is best to add a few variables.

Sry Dramaqueen, but in your case I would still recommand playing straightforward and avoid tricky play as you dont see yet why and when you should use the tricky play. ( Dont worry, I still dont know when tricky play is better than straightforward. )

What is a donkbet? Very easy. You raise from the Bu preflop and BB calls. On the next street, BB bet into you for example. More generally, someone bets into the preflop-, flop-, turnraiser, on the following street.

The next time, it would be very nice, if you could check terms like this in the articles on your own. There you will find the necessary information.

@liverdragon....thx so much for the DONK-BET-Explaination...now I got it right!!
Really would post some hearts here, but there are none here...
