Sorry to hear that Rahxephon.I had a rough weekend as well, but today my afternoon session was very positive. I've been experimenting with some of the ideas we discussed and it is actually making a positive difference to my game so far.

A good week for you, m8. And let's have some more sesson reviews eh?

Nice to hear that, I'm also pretty satisfied with some of those things, just need to take the pots home when having an advantage :)

Cya around!

I have been pretty lazely updating my blog lately. Poker is going so so, still it's better than the last two month so I will not complain. I have been experimenting pretty a lot lately which is OK I guess, I only need to not be spewy which happens sometimes as I have the crazy hiperagressive genes in me.

It appears I'll stay at Full Tilt for the time being instead of moving to stars. I just don't see that many good games there and without volume their bonus program looks pretty bleak. It seems that it would take forever to get a solid status there, also I haven't accustomed to the software enough so that masstabling could go on without seriously affecting my play. On FT sometimes I don't even notice I reached the maximum 16 tables because everything is running so smooth.

Ei Rahx,

It is nice to hear that you will be staying in Full tilt and not transfer to stars. You are a force to reckon and I do not want to bump into you in any of my tables in Pstars. LOL

The month is almost over I hope you are having a good month. :)

Thanks for the nice words, I don't think you really need to fear me since I'm probably staying on NL100 for quite some time.

I also need to thank you for the EP limping hint, it's working really nice specially on those crazy weekends tables.

1.12.2009

Time for the monthly balance.

Total hands: 50.445

Total profit (incl. bonuses and rakeback) 341$

Total bankroll:1797$

Total withdraw: 1500$

Another sucky month. I just can't wait to set my filter on PT to 1.12 so I forget about it.

And graph:

I hoped to start the month in a nice fashion, but got that instead

2000 hands 16 stacks under EV.

I'm out of logical explanations, right now my theory is that Full Tilt uses bots with 80% VPIP that will broke you on river everytime.

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. And the thing that botters me more of everything is that I turned into a fucking whining bitch. I soooooo hate it I'm not used to that and I don't find any relieve in whining, but I just can't think of anything else.

im just sitting staring at that graph and i am speechless. i hope i will never be hit by a downswing like this. but if i did i would switch site allthough logic dictates that it wont help.

i could never have handled it as well as you have though. i mean 14 days ago i faced a downswing for a week and it just put me on a crazy tilt and i had to ban myself for a while. but looking at your graph it doesnt really look like you are tilting. not much at least.

hey RahXephon1,
did you ever thought about switching to bss?
I mean you could start with your roll at nl50 after you gain some experience on nl25.
i think in the longrun bss has a lot more value and why wait ????

Just my 2 cent

Greetz Markus

@Raun: Yes I also reacted this way and I deposited on PS, so I also have an account there. I just find the site of much lower value, since their loyalty program is made for hardcore grinding and at the moment I don't think mass grinding is the right choice.

Also I like FTP software really a lot, next month I'll have 1000$ in bonuses to clear there and games are so incredibly soft. That's probably what really pisses me, the incredible softness of the games, I manage to play for whole stacks with premium holdings almost everytime.

@Markus: One day I hope I will play BSS, SH and HU, I'm not making the switch since I'm a complete noob there. My problem is also an incredible lack of time. I work full time, in the afternoons I study to become an engineer (have school 2x week) and I also need to spend time with GF...

There will probably be time for studying another form of poker next summer when I'll finish school. I also see great value in playing SSS right now since all the soft games, multitabling options and loyalty programs give me a really big value. Also I don't want to leave the strategy in such a bad way as I would see it like giving up. I also think one can learn a lot from advanced SSS as most of the EV calculations are easily converted for any form of poker.

Wow. That graph is just heartbreaking.

Anyway: Playing FR and TAG style when you play BSS isnt all that much different from playing SSS. It just takes a bit of getting used to, but I think you would have no problems adjusting yourself to a limit like NL25 where there is still alot of fish swimming around everywhere. :)

Hehe the problem is I'm a LAG when playing Full stack.

To spewy :)

hiya RahX. bad luck on your ev problem. most of us would be suicidal if we ran that bad so its admirable that u still fight it :) i must say that u look like a really solid player at the tables.

like everyone else ill give my cents worth of advise :)
my son, like you, plays a lot of tables and a similar volume to you. hes a solid player and well disciplined. he runs like you on NL100, really bad to ev. when i watch him play or help review his sessions i notice he just doesnt have enough time to check the detail in dept to be profitable against the level of players there imho.
alternatively he runs really good on NL50 and makes consistant profits, he reckons there are just so many more donks there that pay him off and he prefers volume over detail :)

another thing i noticed yesterday particularly, on a sunday afternoon... i started up a session and thought, ill put a bit more effort into table selection as there should be a lot of nice fishy tables.
so i start my routine checking tables and damn it was really hard to get tables with less than 4 sss players! it took maybe 30mins for me to get 6 tables with 3 or less ss players to join so it would be at least 4 ss v 5 bs at the table. even with plenty of tables in the plr/flp 30 - 40 range there was virtually no tables with 4 or less sss players. i dont think there is any edge on these tables for a sss player and they are a waste of time. so maybe if u are playing big volume your table selection maybe suffering..

im pretty sure if i played more than 8 tables i wouldnt make profit.

anyway good luck this month and hope varience is your friend for a change :)

@ Ishindar

Although there are many SSers I don't really mind them since most of them are ABC players and very easy to exploit. I just put great effort in trying to have the tight players on my left and the loose players on my right. I must say i find even easier playing the tables with at least some tight players on them so every hand doesn't become a 4way madness. My table selection also has an effect to the number of tables I play, if I can't find enough good tables I play as little as 6-7. If tables are really good I play more, snce I can afford a more linear style and don't want to get spewy when I'll get called down anyways.

I'm also aware that learning process is almost nonpossible while mass tabling, but I try to mark as many hands as possible down and review them later.

Anyway see you on the tables, hopefully we won't need to get too much in eachothers way, even if I must say we played a couple of really interesting hands :).

Hey RahXephon1,

It's just so hard to make a constructive suggestion in the face of this graph. It really doesn't seem like you are doing anything wrong and yet you just cannot get a break.

Well I think the most telling thing is that you can see that this is making you into the kind of player you didn't want to be - a whiner.

BUT: you are aware of this. And that's an important difference between the players who expect to win every hand and whine when they don't. You just expect to win your fair share of hands and you're not. And that sucks, Big Time.

What can I say? I would have given up SSS long ago running like this. Oh, wait. I did already.

Take care,
Tim

i'd be interested in what your all.in EV graph would look like if you put the hand into HEM

I also had a huge downswing towards the end of November and I was forced to take a break for almost a week.

Hope poker god will hear your calls and get you above your EV line. :)

Good luck to both of us playing SSS. :)

@Kruppe: Yes it could be different, since I also think they work a little differently, but all in all I feel it's pretty accurate. Maybe I'll try to export my hands there since I want to try the HEM trial anyways.

@Everyone: Last week was pretty fine, hopefully it will stay that way. Today probably no poker since I have another exam tomorrow, passed another one yesterday with full marks so it's nice :)
