1) I like that hand - on the flop you have the best hand here most of the time. UTG will bet his OESD or Flush Draw here, or a hand like A5 so with that raise you are facing BB with 2bets to call.

First i thought i bet the flop here directly but with CO being the last to act i like to go for the check raise. CO is very aggressive according to his stats and a simple bet won't protect your hand a lot with this board. Every face card on the turn can be dangerous for us.

Turn play i like to bet/fold here.

River: On the river i can't think about a lot of weaker hands that would call me here so i play check and see what happens.

Scenario1: UTG bets, CO calls, Hero folds.

Scenario2: UTG checks, CO bets, Hero calls. (like you did it)

CO is aggressive enought that i put him on a bluff bet here.

2) UTG is quite tight preflop so i like the fold on the turn. Althought the flop is very draw heavy. I put UTG on a Flush draw which arrived on the turn or a made hand with a pocket pair.

3) Way too aggressive - The problem is that BB is too aggressive so your raise will often backfire at you. And although with his 30% pfr he could have a lot of hands here but don't forget you raise plus 2 cold caller and he still 3bets, so you must give him a much closer range and the problem is that he won't laydown a better pocket pair here often enough that your raise will be effective.

But what should we do instead. just call the flop?

Propably that will put us into more problems after the flop there are a lot of cards that will hurt us again so i think the best thing you can do is to fold this hand on the flop.

@stephan: First of all I want to thank you stephan for your detailed postings.

This is a situation which quite often occurs. I have here problems too.
I would raise the flop here too to get rid of the other opponents. If it really backfires with an ugly 3-bet, I can fold with a clear conscience for a additional SB.
I also check the turn behind like Pete70 did to keep the pot small and to induce a bluffbet on the river.

@stephan : could you please explain what this is wrong with this strategy.
thx in advance.

We can't deny the fact that he is firing a 3bet at us after we raised from UTG and 2 players called 2bets cold. The problem here is that too often he has a bigger pocket pair that he is willing to call down or that one of the other players has an Ace.

You could do that when you are heads up with him on the flop.

Don't try to win every hand. Be selective with the hands you want to continue playing.

Best regards,
Stefan

i definitely agree with stefan, we are basically dead vs bb and are drawing to our two outs with the danger of paying more bets on the flop if an A cr. A bluff raise is not profitable due to several factors:
a) bb is going to a sd 95% of the times here
b) there are two other opponents who could have you beat
c) you have to fire a turn bet to make the bluff at leas halfway convincing.

Thus if you raise the flop which as mentioned is bad you MUST bet/fold the turn to keep your foldequity up since you can never call a river bet profitably and the freecard doesn't help you with your two outs.
