I just looked at 1 hand from all of those you posted. You limped in with QJo from UTG+1 in a 9handed game, playing *SSS* with 40bb.. Good luck with the *variance* _confused:

first you can't play SSS with 40bb. Strategy already created, and don't try to say,"well 40bb it is just +lower pocket pairs, or suited connectors". If there is no those things in SSS then this is not profitable! You playing your own strategy.

second, drop rush tables!!! :)

No, it is not about the luck. It's about the skill to force the opponents to make mistakes which cost them money and to try to avoid mistakes yourself. Cause everywhere where there is a human dependent choice (bet/raise/call/check/fold) there is room for error.

No shit your whole attitude is wrong. You have to read about variance and you have to read about what edge you have. You have to read how >90% of players are losing money in the long run and if you're break even you should be quite happy about it.

i'm about break even, poker is not easy but you just got to keep going and keep learning and don't stop! There will be good and there will be bad days. You have to be prepared for varience and keep a positive attitude. If you can do this, you will succeed.

And this reminds of something else: A poker pro was asked what's the point in poker besides winning pots. So he had to start explaining that the goal in poker is NOT winning pots.

@op: really, change your whole attitude towards the game or do yourself a favor, save the nerves and money and quit it.

tell me how exactly i have to change my mind, my goal is to win the hand every time I play, if I'd be going for the money only I'd play big limits and try out my luck. teach me about that attitude :) let me hear more "positive thinking = positive result" bullshit stories:) (sry im realistic)

btw its funny that I need to read about variance, when IM SUFFERING THE VARIANCE itself, and I KNOW WHAT IS IT :)) funny ppl around here haha

Ok, the goal as I said is NOT about winning the hands. The goal is to force the people on the table to make mistakes. And to avoid the mistakes yourself. This is the fundamental theorem of poker. Read it, remember it, engrave it in your mind!
Attitude change come slowly as you read and think about the mindset of poker players and psychology and try to apply the knowledge. Say I was like you trying to win every hand as you said. Here's what would have happened in a Sit And Go. I am deal KQs in MP first hand. A guy before me limps and the rest fold. If I was like you I'd say "Fuck let me raise and try to win the hand here on on the flop!". This is a grave mistake. Trying to win the hand at this stage is completely useless. If is not justified by the blinds, by my stack, by my opponents stacks, by my position - nothing. Therefore trying to win every hand is a HUGE leak.

Positive thinking is this: in the second week of February I just played my 28-30 games per day losing money all week. Then nn Friday I won a 45 man SnG $5+0.5. Before the last SnG I was down 22 buyins in 150 games. The whole week I've been losing money and in the last day I won like $100 which is like 20 buyins at the $2.25 turbo sngs. My point is that the whole week I felt I was losing buyins but at the same time when I was reviewing the hands I wasn't bothered by my play. It was OK. I was receiving the bad end of Mr. Luck. But this happens I thought, it's bound to turn my way and so it did. That's one bullshit story for you.

What it is then? If you think it's this then you're right: Variance is the difference between you profit(loss) and your expected value. If you've won $96 and the EV says you should've won $100 you have a little more than 5% variance in your sample.
If you think it's something else - then you're wrong.

Gl hf!

Well it was you who claimed you are trying to win every hand, not me. Sorry if I insulted you in some way.
