well still sounds like you gonna need luck

so, there were a lot of more players then expected. 100 players, 7 payouts.
because there were so many players (and not enough chips) there was only one rebuy allowed.

because of this i changed my tacktics. it was greensteins "ace on the river" who advised me to play as a maniac in the beginning of a game with lots of rebuys. in the new light i played thight from the start. the game was set in the clubhouse of a yachtclub. a lot of bmw's and audi's told me that there were bad players who were new at the game.
starting amount was 2000. in the first hour i played 3 hands . AA in early position was limped by me and raised by the sb. i reraised and sb went allin. bingo.
AKs gave me about 1000 profit. QQ was folded after a AK4 rainbow flop and villians allin.
add on of 1000 chippies. i had about 6200 after the first hour.
i was moved to a very loose table. people were betting very aggressive and were bluffing like.... well like rich people who dont give a damn.
i had in the bb A10s and called a minraise. J1010 rainbow flop and villian went all in, wich i called. he showed JJ and THE RIVER SHOWED A 10. ty.
after 3 hours of playing i had about 14000 and was in 15th place.
one guy was calling a lot of hands but played very passive. he would bet the flop with any hand but after the turn he would check it down if possible. i managed to take some money from him by betting on the turn or river.
and then horror struck. after 5 hours and 18 people left (i was in 7th place) we were reseated and i had the "luck" to sit on the righthand site of the chipleader with an huge stack. think about the biggest stack u ever seen and then double it. first hand i had QQ and i raised the normall 5bb. he called and the flop gave Q37. i bet potsize and was raised. i went allin and went to the showdown with QQQ against his GUTSHOT. he showed 45o and the turn gave him a 6. ty, come again.

its in the netherlands. want to come along? this game was near arnhem. this year, we (3 friends) are going to play about 20 tourneys. we are all playing nl cashgames online (party, stars , everest). one of us played limit for one year and is now playing NL for three months and can pay his rent of it (lol that will be me), the other has a very sick child and has to be awake every night and started to play at everest two years ago and is doing great (he finished 3th in the last tour), and the last one is just a lucky b*****d and plays for 5 monthts and it looks like lady luck has a keen eye on him (he finished 5th) . we are playing from the same bankroll and our goal is to play next years ept from our winnings and gained experience.
we have a camper were we sleep if the game is far away.

the tours we will attend are in arnhem , nijmegen, amsterdam, brummen and enschede. we made up a shedule and asked our girlfriends for permission (lol)
every week there will be a 50 euro tour in the casino in nijmegen. and also in nijmegen there is a pub wich is organizing a weekly tour with a buyin of 35 euro. in nijmegen we will play twice a month. amsterdam casino we will visite every month.
we are also planning to organize some tourneys of our own here at my place.

im thinking about to write a sort of blog with our little storys, and hope that there will be some response and tips and tricks from u guys.

ps still looking for some action in germany. tourneys with a minimum buyin of 50 euro and a playerfield of at least 50.

Driving around in a camper, looking for games...reminds me of the old-time-gambler, when there was no onlinepoker. Sounds like great fun.

There's also an introductionary workshop before the tournament, so it's probably just going to be a lot of beginners playing crapshoot and a few semi decents we play irregular cashgames with. Probably fun for the company.

Besides, guess it's a good idea to get some live tournament experience starting with the little ones and I do enjoy live poker a lot more than online. Just hope I survive the initial crapshoot.

how ur doing?

saterday we went to nijmegen , a small meaningless town south of the beautyfull city of Arnhem.
there was a 40 player tourney with a buyin of 50+5.

since it is illegal now to organize tours we had to call 2 times and were 3 times redirected to the place where it was held.
finnaly we arrived in a pub with the curtains shut and a BIG man at the door,
it was an invite tour so most of the players we had seen before.

i was seated at a table with my mate on the left of me. since we play from the same bankroll we had talked about this and agreed that we would not be nice to each other. erik is a very conservative player with some tricky moves. he likes to do the greenstein raise. that is raise with nothing when he hasnt played a while.

it started of great. i flopped a str8 on my fourth hand and with 4 players in the pot i thought about it to slowplay the hand. but since there was also a flushdraw out there i bet at it. i got called by 2 players and the third raised. after calling his bet and the turn giving a rag i bet again and the other player raised me again. i moved allin and he showed AA. the river gave him a extra A but he lost. nana nana na.
some hands later i held 72o in the big blind. utg made a minraise and 6 !! players called. so did i. (i like 72o) the flop gave A72 all spades. small blind and i checked and utg made a bet (half the pot). small and i both called. turn gave a 2. small checked , i bet about a quarter of the pot and utg raised. small called and i called. river gave a Qspade. i had small on a Kspade and utg on a big pocket pair. (hopefully not QQ). small blind checked and me to (should i have bet? i really was scared of the QQ). utg also checked.
small had indeed a Kspade and utg had KK.

then for 2 hours nothing.
i went to the final table (erik also) and after i bought everybody a beer we started to play again. i noticed that one player was getting tired and he was low on chips. he moved allin on the second hand and i raised with 88. he showed 66 and lost.
now i have a question for u all. with only 5 players left i held AA. i was utg and limped. middle called and bb checked. flop came AK9 again all spades. bb checked, i bet pot and middle raised and bb reraised. i folded. my question is: should i have called? at the showdown i saw that bb had a flush. but the river gave a 9. i would have made a boat. was this a correct laydown? yea and dont tell me that i should not have limped the AA, i know that, but sometimes i just limp with them.

with 4 players left i got unlucky, twice i had 2 pair on the flop and lost against a set and against a flushdraw. KK lost against an AKs.
my last hand was 33 and the flop gave AJ3. i moved allin and got called by AKs, he made a runner runner str8 and i won 240 euro. erik was out on place 9 and won a firm handshake and an applause.

in 2 weeks we go to munster for a private game at a friends house. sng for 100 euro.

maybe u want to join us next month, we are going to play 2 tourneys in that silly town of nijmegen. one will be in the Holland Casino (50 euro, 80 players) and one in a pub (30 euro, 40 players).
since these tourneys are held every 2 weeks , we havent decided yet which day we will go. if u want to bring some friends that will be oke, i have a HUGE house and there are enough beds, they can even sleep in our hayroom.

munster march 10

due to a wedding ( congrats karsten) the 100 euro game was held one week earlier.
i went alone because the date change was to sudden for my friends.
i decided to go on my honda cb 750 (1971) to enjoy the german landscape. netherlands land of the windmills? forget it, when u enter germany the first things u see, are some HUGE windmills. i think the villages in the neighbourhood use them to get there electricity. germany is lovely on a bike when u can avoid the autobahn.

i never met the players except for the host of the game. first we had dinner with some beers (they've got grolsch over there in half a litre bottles , wow). but remember , dont drink alcohol before playing ! ! ! never ! ! ! so i was happy to see 2 players drink 3 bottles of beer. and because im a sneaky b******d i made a nice joint with homegrown dutch pride. 3 players smoked with me and they were the first ones out. lol dont use drugs before playing ! ! ! (i've been smoking shit for 20 years so one joint can not harm me. :tongue:)

starting chips 1500 , blinds go up every 15 min.
9 players, 2 drinking beer , 3 stoned. one lovely female dealer ;).
winner takes all.

i started of very slowly, not only i wanted to study the players but manly i didnt get any decent cards. first half hour i had to fold every hand.
on the first hand one of the players went allin right away and was called. JJ against AKs.
i wonder why there is always one to go all in on the first hand. to set an agressive table image? to scare players right from the start? i played a lot of sngs at pokerstars and i never call an allin on the first hand ( oke AA is a call, but KK is a fold for me). take ur time in a sng. play tight at the beginning. there are a lot of players who play a lot of hands at the start of the game because the blinds are cheap. yea thats true but the flopbet and the turnbet are not cheap. wait for a good hand and play it fast and hard.
btw the JJ held up and AKs was a gonner.

what am i looking for at the start? i look for nervous tells( are they experiend?), i watch how they place their chips ( do they trow their chips in the pot means that they played live before, when they stack them neatly then they are online players), i talk to them, do they answer or are they silent, do they make jokes? try to let them speak and laugh alot, they are going to like u and that will make it harder for them to bluff u and they dont expect a bluff from u not that easely.
then i had in the CO KQs, 2 limpers and i raised my first hand. 1 caller. flop gave A103 rainbow. checked to me, i bet , villain folds.
the next hand i had J10s and i bet again and everybody folded. i always bet the next hand after i won a hand. keep them scared.

the 2 stoned guys left were out in the next 5 minutes. i noticed one of the players was very tight and every time he bet he made a huge continuation bet on the flop. i held 1010 and the flop gave AK10. he made his bet a lot smaller this time. i really didnt trust it. every time he played the flop he overbet the flop and now he made a very small bet. i did call to find out what he was up to. turn gave a rag and he went all in. i folded straight away. and he showed AA. lol i gave myself a tumbs up for my laydown.
later on in the game he did the same thing again, overbetting when he had little or nothing and betting small with monsters (monsters in munster).

after 3 hours we were with 5 players left and blinds were getting high. i was short and had to make some chips. every ace i held was enough to go all in. in 15 minutes i was back in third place. and then, at last, i got some good cards. AA went all in from middle position and i got 1 caller. ty come again.
some hands later i was in a pot with the overbetting guy. he was utg and i was bb. he bettet about one 1/5 of his stack and i called with K9s. flop gave Q95, he went allin and remembering his overbets i called and he showed AKo. turn gave a K and river a 3. he was as angry as phil hellmut bitten in his arse and shouted that i was not a serious player and that the money didnt mean anything to me. so untrue. the money is very serious to me but i always say goodbye to my money before i start playing. it is not mine anymore so i dont play on scared money. it makes the play a lot easier.

and then the most beautyfull hand came. i have had seen it before but this time i was involved. i had utg AA and went all in. i got a call and yes, an other call. i allready felt the 900 euro in my pocket. i swore to myself i would get a driverslicense for my bike (dont ask). they turned there cards and i saw AA and KK. omg
well thats the end of the story. offcoursse KK won darn

50 players 50+5 euro 7 places paid nijmegen last sunday

guess who won. yep me, I, ME. (erik 3th)

nijmegen again.
we were a little late because a accident happend on the waalbridge. a german camper (haha) drove straight into the trafficlights. i hope nobody was injured but pls do that somewere else. we were more then a half hour late.
thank buddha that we allready paid our entry fees.

the scene was the same as the last time we played in nijmegen. 15% good players , 60% reasonable players and the rest were fish who have seen poker on tv and they all know one move: allin.

to bad most of the fish were allready out of the game and were discussing the game at the rail. (i'll come to that)

blinds were allready 50/100 and we started with 5000. because the last time the game went on for 6 hours they changed the blinds intervals, every ten minutes the blinds would increase.

i waited for the bb and my first hand was 55 . 2 limpers and sb folded. flop gave 24J and i bettet 200, one caller. turn was J and i betted again 200 and a fold was my reward.
the tables were down to 4 and i found after 15 minutes QJs in the CO. 1 limper and i raised to 500, fold fold fold.
then a nice hand. utg i had JJ and raised 3.5 times BB. normally i raise 3 times the BB but from UTG i raise a little more with medium pairs. , i found myself with 3 ! callers and the flop gave 987 (2 hearts). since i had a overpair i bettet a little more then 3/4 pot (about 1/3 of my stack). no raise but 2 callers. the turn gave me a 7 and i had 2p but i was afraid of a slowplaying str8 (draw or not). i checked the hand and was minbet, i had to call the bet. luckyly the river produced another 7 . this time i bettet about 1/3 of my stack in the hope to get raised, and indeed the str8 raised and put me allin. the guy (well , woman) showed me 65 (hearts). she flopped a str8 and was on a str8flush draw.

now the rail story, we were on the final table with 5 players left. the 4 remaining players were all good and solid. i was low on chips because a very bad call of erik (we didnt spook the way back home). he called a raise on the turn with a flushdraw wich he hit on the river. bad odds but he made the call because he was the lowstack and was prepeared to gamble with his remaing chips. and the bugger won the hand. but anyway i had a Q9s and raised first in the CO. BB called and flop came Q95. and then BB did something i first liked , he bettet potsize. AND THEN SHOWED HIS HAND TO A GIRL BEHIND HIM ! !
why should he do that? easy, to show the girl a winning hand. he would never show a bluff. i folded and he showed 999.

when we were down too 3 players, i had the honour to kick eriks butt with a running str8.
down too 2 now and the guy in the other seat had about 1/4 my stack. my aim was to put him allin preflop as soon as possible and gamble. i had 2 chanches to knock him out. on the first hand he raised , i had 33 (looks like my coming favorite hand) and went allin. he called and the turn gave me a 3.
i won 1200. ty ty . since this was one of our shedueled games i recieved 175 out of our bankroll and the rest goes into our bankroll for next years EPT.
