We don't pay taxes on poker or any other gambling winnings across Canada.

If you win a million dollars playing poker you may have to declare any interest earned from winnings the following year. RRSPs can take care of this.

In Canada even if you win the lotto you can give someone a one time cash gift and they don't pay taxes on it.

So I think if you win the WSOP you can give a family member some of the winnings tax free.

Cool Beans Huh!

It's only tax-free if it is not your primary source of income. If you are a pro and entirely dependant on your poker winnings, speak to a good accountant and get advice. If you have a job/other source of income, then poker is tax free and your winnings are classified as being from a recreational source and not taxable.
