wasted my 1.466th post on both of you nerds

Yea, however keep in mind that >=5bb/100 is crushing. 3bb/100 is OK. Thousands of hands must be played.

Is that maybe William Spencer on the video?
Here is his "craziest skateboard tricks"video on youtube:

Check it out.

Wait so you're saying that a very good win rate is to average only 5bb after 100 hands? That sounds like nothing to me! So if I play 100 hands in 0.01/0.02 NL ring games, 10 cents profit after 100 hands is crushing? It's not that I don't believe you, I am just new to this so I have no idea what typical values are. It just sounds very little...

I think he was talking about normal stakes like 100nl+

Keep in mind that in general we will be multi tabling, and 100 hands are quite easily achieved in 1 hour @ EVERY table.

For example let's say that I play 10nl SH on 6 tables (comfortable zone to play your "thinking" game and not just mass grind).

Let's say I make 5bb/100. That means in 1 hour I average a 600 hands, meaning I've earned 30bb or $3.
3 bucks for an hour of work isn't much, but when you add to that the fact that you have VIP programs, bonuses and rakeback makes up for it by some.

I'll continue my example with life example here. In my country it's quite easy to live through a month with $400 (ofc if you cut on major expenses such as not eating @ home or clubbing every night). This means that with 5bb/100 (not counting the bonuses) if I was to put 4:30 hours per day, I'd have enough money to live and still be able to climb limits because of the bonuses.

Now just imagine how drastically 5bb/100 increases your $$$ profit as you move up the limits.

5bb/100 @ nl10 while playing 6 tables is far from crushing

Put it this way, if your making 5bb playing 100nl on 12 -18 tables a 2-3 hours a day on average i would estimate your gonna be making somewhere in the region on £25-30k a year TAX FREE (inc bonuses+RB etc).

I've been grinding the 50-200 limits for 2 years at anywhere between 1.6-4 depending on the site and i make about the same as i would in a graduate job, and its tax free.

If you look at rennwurm or jrockhaf, two of the best 100nl FR grinders you'll see that rennwurn has made around 150k in a year and a half at 1.9bb/100 and jrockhaf has made the same figure over the same period of time at 4bb/100. These guys are playing massive volume and you have to worry about whether they remember how to communicate in a real life social environment :/ but it shows that you can play low limits at volume and i reckon playing at anything over 1.5bb/100 will bring you some really good profits over the years.

Remember its not a race to move up quickly, its all about getting the hands under your belt, continual learning and most importantly patience. Maintaining a 5bb/100 @10nl over a decent period of time with good volume is a feat in its own. ALso if your playing short handed your much more likely to see higher bb/100 ratios than those at full ring.

Hope it helps :)

its BB (Big Bet..)
not bb (big blind..)

so 4BB/100 = 8bb = (nl100=8$)
ptr uses BB

Ok 5 big bets / 100 hands sounds like a far better return. You're right, if you can play enough hands at only or 1 or 2 BB/100 then you can still make a nice profit.

Is it true that these successful multitablers can only be profitable on say NL100 and less because to be profitable on higher tables you have to be able to pay attention to what's going on?

Also, do most multitablers just play their hand and follow some kind of preset rules? Just because I don't see how you can pay attention at all to what is going on if you have more than a few tables open.

From what I can see (I'm a beginner as well) there are rules to be observed based on the amount of money in the pot, your position at the table, how many have called/raised/folded thus far in the hand, and the amount of money you have to pay to stay in the current hand based on the strength of your cards.

Oh I realise that, I mean do multitablers watch the games close enough so that they can label each player as TAG/LAG/Fish etc. and base their play on that? or only on their own hand, position, number of limpers etc etc?

I was just giving an easy example of how 5bb/100 @ nl10 is still quite profitable, and how much it actually is as the limits get higher :P
I'm actually @ 9bb/100 nl4 right now (12bb/100 with rakeback) and I still consider myself far from crushing it :f_p:

in a 100 hands, really crushing, i.e. really winning a lot and a nice amount, would be about 400bb imo. i've done that often.
