Hi all...I'm not English (although many of my ancestors were English and Scottish) but live in Witham in Essex Just started playing on here a few weeks ago!! How are ya all doing? I didn't read the whole thread but thought I'd post something I'm an American married to a wonderful English man hence the reason I'm here...

I totally understand your reluctance regarding ID & internet. You are right to be careful with your ID, however I can confirm that PokerStrategy are a highly respected and responsible company. Your ID and personal data are kept in strictest confidence and covered by the data protection act.

If you prefer not to send ID, you could always deposit a little of your own funds into a linked account. All poker rooms will need ID documentation at some stage too though, it's there to protect you and your money.

Anyway, welcome again, good to have you join the 'Good ol' England' thread

Welcome to the PokerStrategy community as well as the 'Good 'ol England' thread.

We are here to help you the improve your skills in order to build a bankroll. I can recommend several things:

1. Play according to the bankroll management. This is the most important point. I saw a lot of players going broke, because they didn't stick to it. ( for NL it's this one: BRM)
2. Read all available articles.
3. Stay active in the forum, which means: ask questions whenever you have some.
4. Post in our hand analysis boards (Fixed-Limit / No-Limit / SNG)!
5. Watch videos and visit coachings.

If you really do these things, you will be a winning player who climbs up the limits.

Play mostly online, but try to play live whenever I can!!

Like MTT's, Satellites for bigger live tournies. Went to the ladbrokes killarney festival last year and had a great weekend!!
Stumbled across this site somehow, cant remember how. Them found this thread, which is great!!
Looking to improve all areas of my game and games, like to play mixed games aswell.

Hi all My Name is Matthew and currently reside in the west side of london.

after first starting out on facebook playing for fun i decided to take it to another level after watching a lot of wsop videos. i guess i kinda have a dream to play in a wsop comp one day but for now im just focused on building my small bankroll.

2 questions:

I am now assuming this forum is english based, would i be correct?

has anyone else playing in any big poker events? if so care to share the experience.

As for your questions, here goes

1) Yes this thread is indeed intended for the our members who currently live in England although the actual forum is made up of members from many different nationalities.

2) I don't have any experience of playing tournies live but i my best finish so far with regards to online tournies was sixth for $140 in a freeroll :). Myself and Bart (EagleStar88) are hoping to play a few live events this year and will hopefully be starting a blog detailing our highs and lows of playing live tournies.

that blog would be interesting to read i always like to hear about peoples success and failures in poker i feel even their experience would improve my game. since i started playing seriously i have played at my local rileys a few times and 2 other poker clubs in live tournies but havent had any substantial success. im still learning and seem to get caught up in a stupid hand as im nearing the final table.

I have been lurking on this site since I joined and feel it is time I introduced myself:

I am Martin, 33 from Chelmsford in Essex.

I have been a losing poker player for about 7 years or so, and then found this site ans have seen the light.
Thank you to ps.com and to everyone in this community. I am learning so much, and I am determined to start becoming more active in these forums when I can make the time.

I am currently playing NL4 BSS FR and have built my starting capital to $108 on Mansion in about 21K hands since getting it in Jan (I can only really squeeze in about 300-400 hands a day 4 tabling)

I know I have a lot of leaks to fix and then hopefully I can improve my winrate and move up the limits. I am determined to just keep building on the starting capital and hopefully never have to deposit my own money again.

@Carey: Hello, nice to see a fellow essex resident on here.
