If you were I´d prefer checking back turn since likely you´re not really holding any more better hand rather than maybe close to nut low draw
I would check back river. i think it is a little too thin to bet for value

River bet looks too thin, unless he is a huge calling station there's no reason to believe he would check/call 3 times with A6,56,54 without a better high hand. he could be folding really weak two pairs with no low like A38x but that's it.
Since you have both mediocre high and low hands bet/calling the river doesn't look like the best thing to do.

I've not written that above but more precisely I'd expected to hands like A36*, 345* with pair/or not to call because of nice odds.
My lo hand is not that mediocre for this is second nuts that easily can be the nuts here, after nuts lo draw on turn missed, and having my hand I'm pretty sure that more often than not my 2nd nuts will be good here (I've got 2 aces + 5 after all).

My reason for betting was that there's a really limited number of hands that would beat me. Just A4 + 2 cards giving him 2 pairs or A5 + 2 cards giving him 2 pairs, for I don't believe in sets and straights seeing the way he played this hand, and his range is obviously wider, but I'm not able to state it really precisely since it's CN - no stats, and the strangest opponents I've played against.

Had I bet more he should've even folded his hands with 2 pairs only for straight is on the board (taking into account my table image).
I agree that check or calling is better than b/c though.

But my lo is not that mediocre!

what I mean is that you are usually not getting anything better than a split when he calls so I don't see the point in playing bet/call.
And the lo is mediocre because if he hit any lo draw he was willing to chase then he either has A5 or A4 unless he is really horrible , as you stated A3 missed so there's a more than decent chance you get half of the pot anyway.

mathematically a check is EV=0 , so in every spot where checking is better than betting the bet is always -ev meaning it's a mistake
