First of all I'd really like to say

to all the coaches, article writers, video producers, administrators, vhally, blog writers and all the buddies who have sweat with us, exchanged advices and shared words of motivation. A big thanks to this awesome community (bow), which has given us so much in the past year. We still have a long way to go and we are sure ready to go all the way _cool:.

For our 2nd year: let's make it from "pros" to "PROs"

A big mind-set change is taking place for both me and my brother. We've been quite serious about poker for our first year, and it paid off (at least it paid for our bills ). But now we're taking it to another level: this is a business. And as good businessmen, we want our business to grow and expand. So first of all we shall treat this as it deserves. That means having a more organized working scheduled, determined goals both for the short and long-term, amongst other things.

The working schedule for a poker player must consist of both grinding time as well as studying/reviewing/working on your game time. And the goals do not have to be money related at all, actually they'd better not be imo as they end up being counter-productive.

Time that is badly planned - or not planned at all - usually goes down the drain. The key-word here is PRODUCTIVITY. Keeping a working schedule and treating poker as a real business makes things much more productive.

1st KNOW what you want and where you want to get; 2nd PLAN your next moves; 3rd JUST DO IT

Next semester I'll finally start studying Acupuncture - something I've wanted to do for quite a while - and that will take 4 hours/day of classes, besides transportation time and studying for exams. That means that I'll be investing 20~30 hours of my week on that, which will mean less time for poker. But I still have to pay for my bills, so I've been preparing myself for an intensive agenda:

1 - changing sleep from 8 to 6hrs/day (how? mainly improving sleep quality)
2 - developing more organized schedules for +++ efficiency
3 - making sure I don't get a girlfriend
4 - doing my best to move up limits and improve my skills so I'm able to play more tables next semestre (in case it becomes necessary)

It'll be a bit challenge for me, but an awesome challenge.

A few short-term goals that I wish to accomplish before August:

- Making it from pro to PRO (mind-set at least, since this goal also involves playing higher limits)
- Becoming my brother's sweat partner, rather than student - by merit!
- Beating the low stakes
- Changing sleeping routine to 6,5 hours/day max

Booyeah, now I'll plan my weekly schedule. I wish you all an awesome weekend!

Peace!

Daniel, i'm sorry I didn't had time to looka t your SSS vid
I will be doing that in June after I finish my iPlay nanostakes vid series

Once again congratulations on become 1 year pro. Do you know what your future goals are? get a degree anyways and stuff?

Don't worry about the video, Gerv =D whenever your schedule allows you to

Reagarding future goals, I will get this degree on Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture) but I don't really plan on making a living out of that. I definitely wish to work with it, since I believe it's important to offer something back to society. But poker/investment should be my main source of income, as I think it's much more ++EV

That's why I don't care much about degrees, I just want to get the knowledge. As to future course, I don't know yet. Probably after I start studying I'll get more ideas

Hey dandy, good look with your goals, I have one question:

"1 - changing sleep from 8 to 6hrs/day (how? mainly improving sleep quality)" how?!

Mainly by improving my general health (a healthier body usually manages its energy level much more efficiently) and improving the quality of sleep. The quality of sleep depends on a few factors:

- your mental/emotional state when going to bed: an agitaded mind disturbs sleep completely. So meditation/relaxation techniques can drastically improve the quality of your sleep.
- your diet: a more natural diet helps your body to function better whereas heavy, less natural diets tend to make the body sluggish and slow. The meal before going to bed makes a major difference, a heavy meal late at night really disturbs sleep.
- The hours of the day during which you sleep: sleeping before midnight = bonus I mean, sleeping early is actually more efficient due to natural cycles. So 10pm-04am > 02am-8am (here you'll probably wake up wasted)

These are the basics of my strategy

3 - making sure I don't get a girlfriend

Hey, great blog, I've been following with interest...

I was just wondering what are your plans to achieve goal number 3 :P

lol, good question. I thought of being generally rude to women, but that has terrible reversed implieds, since it often yields the opposite result i.e. they fall in love buahaha. Taking less showers might help though

New Schedule program is ready!

My new working schedule is already in use. I tried to keep it simple so that it's not too hard to follow it. Here are the main points I've implemented:

- weekly goals (number of hands played, books/articles read, evaluated hands etc)
- maintaining a grinding : studying ratio of 2:1
- keeping track of A-game/B-game/C-game ratio so I can work on improving it. after each session I evaluate my play as to how long I kept my A/B/C-game and write it down.

For this next week I'll have following goals:

- evaluating 35 hands (5/day) in the forum
- finishing The Poker Mind-Set
- score 2:1:1 minimum in A/B/C game evaluation
- not checking my bankroll till the end of the week.
- 7.000 hands minimum/10.000 to be cool (maintaingin 2:1 grind/study ratio)

notes:

* A game = very focused
B-game = reasonably focused
C-game = lacking focus.

I didn't even add a D-game = playing very badly or something along those lines because that will simply be unacceptable.

+efficiency +working hours +volume

I like it! Peace!

I know when you first started you would be looking to live a really basic life. i was wondering from moving up the limits and presumably earning more has your life changed? do you spend more, live in a bigger house? or are you still a long way from having a really luxury lifestyle?

nice blog keep it up
