1: No way should both of you have been all in preflop.
2: If he had made just a regular flush then you wouldn't be calling this a bad beat

I play for fun mate, don't care about the ins and outs, it is a bad beat!
If you play bad you deserve bad beats. I have no sympathy for people who for example limp AA with 10BB in tournaments and then get beat by my 104 from the BB when i make two pair.
You shouldn't have gone all in.. period.. And i've seen worse.. for example losing AA vs AA preflop all in.

Well AA vs AA is basicly same story as AJo vs AJo. If someone beats you with the same hand, it's always the same of a beat. Doesn't matter if it's 72o vs 72o or AA vs AA.
But yeah, shoving early in a tournament with AJo is stupid.

I would define a bad beat as getting your money in a big favorite (80%+) and then losing. Thus, this is a bad beat. AJ vs AJ royal flush is not a bad beat. KK vs KK royal flush is also not a bad beat. The money never went in ahead.
On a side note, the "worst bad beat ever" would be catching perfect on 2 streets to win. For example you have AK and the flop comes A22. The money goes all in and your opponent shows quad deuces. If you caught A on the turn A on the river to win then that would be the "worst bad beat ever".
