It seems to me PLO8 is the most complicated form of poker out there ATM... so I would assume you would have a nice edge over most of the players at low stakes. What software do you use for PLO8? Is Elephant any good for that?

And about the super turbo comment: I always thought those games were just horrible donk fests, but maybe you're right... with ICM techniques you should have an edge. I'll give it a try....

I'd like to learn PLO and Razz but there isn't enough strategy articles out there imo... Don't know how to get started in either of them.

Theres almost no videos/articles on any of the Stud games, Razz included, but theres plenty on PLO i think. Watch PLO videos and try your hand at it

I'm a starting-out fixed limit player, and I'm just wondering...
is Fixed Limit really played anywhere but online?

I'm thinking of switching to NL BSS or something, because at least when I play friends I'll know what to do. From what I see, there are no pros who play fixed limit online regularly.
I'm really leaning towards NL cash games / SNG's.
(The test at the beginning that shows what game type you like playing said SNG for me, but I don't know how I got into fixed limit)

But then, over a month's study and grinding will be mostly wasted. And I'll have to relearn concepts again. =(

NL HE will always be profitable on any limits, as long as u stay patient and table select. There's going to be even more fish coming into the game, specially if the US market reopens and Italy ends it's poker isolation (there's rumors both might happen soon, we'll see I guess...). Basically u'll have to work hard to win no matter what kind of poker u play. However it does seem PLO and NLHE MTTs are the most profitable games.

PLO cause ppl are poor at it and MTTs cause ppl will always chase that one big cash ... think of MTTs as a bingo with cards ... there's always plenty of donks believing they'll go on a crazy run and scoop up the top prize ... or maybe at least make it to the final table ... poker will always be profitable ... however psyche more than skill are slowly coming into fore-front.

If you have a set bankroll, let's say 2k, you can win the following (that is if you're good):

- a realistic 5% in 20$ turbo SNG's. 9 tabling that is about 20$/hour which is great. Maybe not this specific stake or format but you can make the 20$.

- you can play NL50, average for pokertableratings best is 4.68 bb/100h, let's say you make 2BB, let's say 500 hands/hour, that's 5$/hour. Even if you play a lot, like 1k hands/hour, that's 10$/hour. So NLHE cash is no way to go.

- FL 3/6, average 2.26, maybe you can make 1BB/100h. 500 hands/hour that's ... 30$ !!! And i forgot to mention bigger rakeback, basically another 20$/hour at FullTilt.

- PLO 50? I think that's a little high for 2k bankroll. Average 12.79, let's say you make 6BB/100h. I think it's unrealistic to say you'll play more than 500 hands / hour, so that's 15$/hour.

Do i need to continue?

So basically it should be FL. Problem is FL 3/6 is hard to break, but i imagine PLO stays easy.

NL50 2BB/100 at 500hands/hour is $10/hour. And I guess you can double every figure you have there because 1 BB = 2bb. The rest sounds about right for winning at a form of poker although I don't know anything about the levels of PLO and FL.
