Hello Gerv! Here's a suggestion about Mikogo:

A student can join your mikogo using the brownser (join.mikogo.com) and create a new session for 10 more students (he'll need to download mikogo for that - www.mikogo.com). So that everyone can see your screen.

I don't know if I made myself clear (and my English is TERRIBLE ) so feel free to contact me via Skype if you need (you already have it). ;)

cya!

Thank you Latini for the message! I already use Mikogo along with YuuGuu if the capacity exceeds 10 spectators.

Tomorrow's (Sunday Bronze) will be starting at 6 CET (18:00) because of the World Champs

Hello

I just want to make PSA right now since I just moved to Denmark in my apartment.

Unfortunately there is no stable internet in my apartment at the very moment. ALso I have an introduction week including the 3rd of August and the 5th which means I am unable to coach then.

Furthermore there is a lot of bureaucracy in Denmark which means I have to registrate at a migration board first then go to another board and then finally to the internet company

I hope to find a substitute and a kind of Return of Gerv is approximately in the middle of September

Loads of love from Denmark :P

edit by SvenBe:
luckily we have found a substitute for todays and sunday,5th's coaching: DarkZonk - he will teach bronze members on how to play SSS and be a winning player, or at least how to become one :)

[x] Methodology on Analyzing your SSS sessions
Answer written by Gerv as a result of a question asked during the Coaching

Last Friday there has been an interesting question concerning how – in the blue hell – am I analyzing my SSS sessions. On purpose I did not included the sentence part after I played my session as that implies that immediately after my session, I would review it.

I would be lying if I would tell you this because it is tradition for me to let the session sink in and analyze it the next day before I play another session. I do this for two main reasons:

1 – It gives me a more objective state of mind when looking at the {marked} hands
2 – I ''warm-up'' my brain by looking at these hands and think in Range, Equity and Expected Value

Point 1 is applicable for almost everyone but Point 2 is pure for personal reasons but feel free to test it out yourself.
This is because I tend to have a warming-up period during my sessions whenever I didn't do a session review. What this implies is that the P% of making errors is far higher than anywhere else in the session
Unfortunately this is not a self-fulfilling prophecy but more based on empiric data of myself :'(

Preventing myself from writing about something else ,let's go back to the main issue.

--

During my sessions I tend to mark hands, write (a lot!) of notes on opponents and keeping track of my own spewing machine.

When reviewing my session via Hold'em Manager, I mostly have excel sheets, equilator/stove, a wordpad and a calculator open on my desktop.

Since it is SSS, I tend to not look at my statistics of that specific session due the amount of variance that is hidden somewhere in a corner.

So mostly I start with reviewing hands I marked down or remembered but simply forgot. Or one can take another route and review all double ups and losses from the other day. This is particularly boring, annoying and sometimes demotivating if those are like 100+ hands which means it would take 1.5h for you to SKIM through these hands

--

Now let's take a hand I've marked down during the same coaching session as I wasn't sure whether the line I took was right and it was one of the spots I rarely get into simply by preventing myself to get in these spots =D

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.50(BB) Replayer
SB ($9.50)
BB ($10.95)
UTG ($9.50)
UTG+1 ($22.75)
UTG+2 ($24.70) * Unknown *
Hero ($10.75)
CO ($7.15)
BTN ($15.20) * Unknown *

Dealt to Hero K♠ K♥

fold, fold, UTG+2 raises to $1, Hero raises to $3.50, fold, BTN calls $3.50, fold, fold, fold

FLOP ($8.75) J♠ T♣ A♥

Hero bets $7.25 (AI), BTN calls $7.25

TURN ($23.25) J♠ T♣ A♥ 2♠

RIVER ($23.25) J♠ T♣ A♥ 2♠ K♣

Hero shows K♠ K♥
(Pre 71%, Flop 22.7%, Turn 13.6%)

BTN shows A♠ J♣
(Pre 29%, Flop 77.3%, Turn 86.4%)

Hero wins $22.15

So apart from the Llllllllllllllolucky River the main question is whether Flop & Maybe Preflop was EV(max)

One can 3bet preflop to $3 to shoving. It is No Limit Hold'em. My preference with raising 3.5x is because
With 20bb stacks, I shove 13bb into a 14.5bb pre-raked pot which means that with 0% equity I need to let him fold <50%. [[Exact math is 13/(13+14.5) = 0.472 = 47% ]]

One always have equity from 10% (2 outer aka PP to almost 45%) hence when EV = PEQ + FEQ, to get the same EV if PEQ=0% and FEQ=Y one needs LESS FEQ if PEQ is >0%

This is a simple one: more money in the pot Preflop = more value = more vodka = happy Emma = even more happier Gerv :)

Spotting preflop, an unknown Fish with a 30bb stack called preflop. I identified him as a Fish from the get-go because of side-information I gathered during the hand (#tables, PTR etc.)

So when putting him on a range I would give him a range that contains SOME SuperPremiums, A LOT of Semi-Premium hands he is definitly NOT comfortable cold-4betting with and SOME jaw-dropping suited hands.

In holdings I would give him something like this:

AsAh, AsAd, AsAc, QQ-99, AJs+, KJs+, 98s, 87s, AJo+, Kqo 103 combinations

Logically speaking 98s, 87s and probably QQ,99, KJ, KQ will not call my shove and removing those hands I still have 66 combinations hence dividing 72 by 103 one gets his calling range. At the same time your FEQ is One minus that number:
FEQ = 1 – (66/103) ==> FEQ = 36%

Board: Ah Js Tc
Dead:

Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 82,965 % 81,203 % 3,523 % 15,274 % AsAh, AsAd, AsAc, JJ-TT, AJs+, AJo+
Player 2: 17,035 % 15,274 % 3,523 % 81,203 % KsKh

Now it is fairly easy to calculate our EV as we know our PEQ and FEQ.

Using formula
EV = Pot*Foldequity + (1-Foldequity)[(eff.Stack+Deadmoney)*Equity – (eff.Stack*(1-Equity))]

We can calculate our EV:
Pot = 8.75
ES = 7.25
EQ = 17%
FEQ = 36%
EV = 0.09$+

So with rake reduction/rakeback, our move is kinda marginal. What are the alternatives & their EV?

Checking is more resulting into check/folding as I think it is ridiculous that he is bluffing here too often to force us to play check/call. check/raise is therefore also out of option because we could then better shove ourselves to get some FEQ.
Hence check/fold is the only option as soon as we check which means our EV there is Zero or even negative with the 7bb we invested in the pot. It is how you want to look at it

Betting small is also kinda marginal. While weaker hands may call our small bet, we have absolutely no idea if they are calling on the Flop and we are playing OOP the Turn. We need less FEQ if we risk less but at the same time we are in a spot against a Fish reacting very random on these small bets.
I think in the end this evens each other out hence I prefer a jam and let him make the ''hard'' decision rather than put us in a cry-thinking spot.

We just analyzed one hand where the PSB shove was marginal +EV but in my opinion still a mandatory one.
What is more interesting is the way you can exploit/(AB)USE this hand history and create different What if spots.
For instance What if the Flop was A:d J:d T:s or What if the Flop was A:d 7:h 2:s.

This way you can get much more out of one single hand played and prepare yourself already for certain spots that are inevitable for a multitabling SSS player. Since you are prepared you make less mistakes, have to think less, use less energy, have more energy for longer sessions hence ending up in more EV!

--

Before using Hand Evaluations ( I mostly talk to other SS players via Skype whenever I am not sure ) I think it is of vital importance to put your own thought in the hand yourself. Try to put some effort in this as Active Participation is the best way to learn something at an optimal speed!

My way of judging hands is not a traditional one; I ask questions to the ones who post their hand of which I think is a bit superficial. I can judge the hand immediately but I think it is for your best interest to think in a specific way so you know for sure next time where to look for.

Apart from analyzing hands like this over and over again, one can also look at the non-sd//SD winnings they have different filters like this:

Adding the statistics in the report, look at ''Default Stats'' colum and above rake one sees $ Won WO Showdown and $ Won at Showdown

As you might have know 95% of all FR SS players have losing Non-SD but it is more important to look WHERE you EXACTLY lose money. This filter will do it for you regardless whether you are analyzing your session or lifetime statistics.

Moreover using Filters like ''VPIP = False'' and so on can greatly dissect your own game. See Hold'em Manager more as the Photoshop of Poker rather than the standard Paint program!

I hope this article helps you out somehow someway. I would love to get some feedback/critics/questions on this piece of text.

Thanks,
Gerv

Thanks Coach for share with us the chart on Excel sheet and for the great coaching, it is really work for me as my bankroll start benefit from it :)

I will try to ask during the coaching today for another little explanation on how to extract the best out of it (Excel chart) obviously if there is enough time available. Sorry about that but I am so donk that I need deep explanations about anything

In alternative, there is any change for a written fast guide of it? Please do not take me wrong as I don't want give the impression to abuse of your kindness; so I ask that only if you got a possibility for it other way, I will find the way myself before or later (hopefully )

Look forward for the coach this evening
Thx :heart:
