I'm still very new to poker so I'm grinding NL2 2 tables, and usually while watching a film or a TV show

Not really, i'm not much more than a rookie and I can easily play 6 and watch the TV every now and again, although I prefer to play 12 and not watch any TV

How can watching TV while playing benefit your game?

I didn't say it would benefit your game (Although in some cases it can because it can stop you becoming bored when you're card dead and playing hands you shouldn't), but if you're only playing two tables it doesn't hinder your game.

If you get bored while playing poker then you're not playing enough tables.

Are there any good sites online for listening to music/radio? I use grooveshark which is good, but I can never think of music to search for....

I thought music helped me relax and be patient etc in order to play better, but i also always had the feeling of running worse while i was listening to music.
Then recently i saw in a video that a coach said listening to music was for many poeple is a big source of subconsious tilt.

Although i really hate not listening to music while i play since it can get really boring, i do so now and with much better results.

Try to be really critical with yourself.
Maybe you don't play bad while listening to music, but maybe you just play even better when you don't.

That's why I said I prefer to play 12 tables and not watch TV ;) But i'm just saying, for a beginner playing two tables it's not bad to have the TV on in the background, because beginners will find it hard to play more tables, especially if they have to make big decisions at multiple tables at once.

I think if you are able to play two tables and watch telly you can also play four tables without watching... :) TV may also tilt you.. imagine watching The O.C. and playing poker: "Oh no, she died. WHY? Why? Fuck it.. And fuck you buddy, i know ur bluffing, i call with my bottom pair." :)

I would probably not be playing poker at all if I couldn't listen to music while playing...

That's a good theory right there haha! But I don't think playing two tables and watching TV is the same as playing four tables. If you get 4 big decisions to make across those four tables at the same time, it's going to be tought for a beginner, whereas if you get two big decisions to make across 2 tables you can just zone out the TV and concentrate on the decisions. Basically what i'm saying is if he gets 4 big decisions to make at the same time it's going to be tougher than if he only gets two

yeah, overall im up on ring games - lost some cash while trying rush poker though haha. Though I'm new to poker I wouldn't consider myself a new player - I've played for over a year, on and off and I've read books etc
