Awww unlucky Caroline, sorry to hear you are out, but hopefully Vonki can keep going for the both of you.
Also sorry to hear it's raining hard in London, did I tell you how warm it is where I am right now lol ♦

Warning! This post will be long, and will be about my experience in London at the EPT, so if you're not interested, then don't read!
So. As I said, my weekend in London was just awesome. I left home on thursday morning heading off to the big city of london for the first time in my life. The trip was long and exhausting, but oh so worth it!
I got welcomed at the undergroundstation by Caroline. We walked back to her place, and we had a few glasses of champagne, and some cooktailshrimps! A couple of glasses later, we went to watch Yoghi play the Main Event for a bit. When we were at the tournament area, the first known person to walk just in front of my nose was... Phil Ivey himself! Being a newby at live-events I was really excited on the inside but ofc tried to keep my cool on the outside ![]()
I also saw Anette, Daniel Neugranu and Joe Hachem (he actually said hello to me even, maybe because I was smiling at him?). A few glasses later was a few glasses too many hihi. Back at the appartement after Yoghi was done with day 1 we had some more champagne and got to know each other a bit better and talked etc. I have to add, that Yoghi and Caroline are really awesome people! Alot of fun to talk to and very nice people both of them.
So, friday I woke up with this reeeeally bad hangover lol. I woke up wondering if I had dreamt it all, but the headache reminded me that it was all real. I took some aspirines, and me and Caroline spent some hours on the couch watching sex and the city. Towards the evening, Yoghi started preparing dinner. Yum yum, he did really well! EliasVeritias also came over for dinner and we all enjoyed the coq au vin (copy paste ftw!) and as the rest shared a couple of bottles of red whine I decided to go easy on the alcohol so I'd be fresh for the next day and able to play flawless.
I had been wanting to go sightseeing and stuff aswell, but the hangover and the rain that poured down outside kind of changed my mind. ♦
So... then came saturday. Boy oh boy was I nervous! As you had to register at the casino which was like 5-10 mins walk from where the tournament was played, and there was a huge line and only 1 staffmember, we feared we would be delayed. And we were, but so were many others and they delayed the whole ladies event for 40 minutes as we werent the only one's being late. Quite nervwracking I must say.
So I sat down at the table, and the cards started getting dealt. The first couple of hands I was really shaky, I couldnt seem to keep my nerves in chack, even tho I don't think it showed to much on the outside. Where I was seated, I had a perfect view on Phil Ivey who was seated a couple of tables next to mine. After playing a couple of pots, the nervousity started to ware off and I felt more and more comfortable for every hour that passed. I played some pots, won some and lost some. So far I didn't have any known players on my table, there was a woman poker magazine editor on my left to whom I spoke a bit. I also had a quite chatty table for a while, and it was quite enjoyable actually. A couple of hours later, team pokerstars Fatima (picture below) was seated on my table, a few positions to my right. I actually abused my somewhat tight image and her not so loose image by restealing her with pretty much air once. I just didn't get many playbale hands at that time.

During the dinnerbreak, as Caroline had busted and gone home, I took company with another girl from my table. She was from USA, one of the qualifiers. She wen't back to the hotel to change clothes quickly, so I said I'd wait for her at the sportsbar. So I went there, ordered myself a Vodka redbul and sat down at a table to wait for her. At the table next to mine, Joe Hachem was sitting with a friend of his. After 5 minutes passed by, he waved at me and asked me why I was sitting there on my own. I told him I was waiting for my friend, and he asked "male or female?". I told him female, and he asked me to join them at their table instead of sitting there on my own. And I thought to myself: Hey, why not? ![]()
He asked me lots of questions about what I was doing in London and where I lived, what I studied etc haha. He also asked my advice on a hand he had played in a 3bet pot. He asked me what I would have done. I was like uuuhm... I don't know, I don't know the players... But he did mention he had only 3bet like 5 times all day, so I was like "well, if you only 3beted that little the whole day he should give you extra credit for it" and he was like yea, good point. As my friend arrived, they had to get going because their dinnerbreak was done.
Anyway, time passed by and the tourney was slightly turbomode so my chipstack got smaller, and when I lost AJ vs J9 all in, and then AJ vs 66 all-in I was down to not that many big blinds left. The chipleader (and rungood french biatch) who ended up winning the whole tourney, raise/called with KJo against my AK and things looked good. But, just like she had sucked out on people all day she sucked out on me too, and I was sent to the rail.
We wen't to the pokerstars party afterwards, but I was kind of disappointed in it. The open bar had closed when we arrived and it was some exclusive club so drinks were kind of expensive, it was supercrowded and nobody was dancing. The music was also so loud we couldnt really talk to each other, and we had gotten half soaked on the way there. So after an hour or so, we decided to head back home instead.
Sunday, we actually decided to play the 220£ event aswell, and out of 24 entrants I actually made it to 6th place. My A7s couldnt hit against 44, and I was eliminated.
Day 2, Elky's girlfriend and Pokernoobs girlfriends were on my table, and I actually got to know alot of nice girls during the tournament! Some of which I hope to stay in contact with.
Overall I am very happy and saticefied with my game, even though I did a couple of rookie-mistakes haha. Like this one time I wanted to raise it up to 100 on 25 blinds, but I only threw in a 100-chip which then counts as a call aka limp lol. And guess what I had? AA... hahahh
Luckily for me a woman raised behind me and I could limp/raise mohahah ![]()
Another time I wanted to go all in, but I apparantly pushed my chips unevenly across the line and didnt verbaly announce an all in so it got considered to be a call. Just great when you have 11bb and wanna shove vs a raise and you end up just calling! ![]()
All in all amazing weekend, and I will certainly try to qualify for some more live-events as often as I can afford!
This was really amazing, and I just wanna do it over and over again. ![]()
I hope you all get to experience what I experienced one day!
Anyway, big enough wall of text for now.
Take care & GL at the tables!
xx vonki
Oh and a list of some players i saw...
Phil Ivey
Daniel Neugranu
Anette Obrestad
Vanessa Rousso
Juanda
Psychobenny
Pokernoob
Fatima
Probably more but I can't remember
And ofc, whenever a dealer made a mistake, there were jokes like "to many woman are distracting
And I asked for a deck after I busted, as a souvenir... As there were still tournaments running and they normally didn't hand them out I ended up getting one anyways, but with the corners cut off so I could'nt bring back cards into the game and cheat
You got invited to Joe's table, whaaaaaaaaa. That's amazing.
Sounds like you had a ball.
