hey guys,

a short update: life continues to be gr8 and even better everyday. Not only we actually did make it (almost) on time to the 2nd lesson of the Eng course, i also met up with some ppl for interior wall climbing after it and had an awesome time. At the course, we (tbh Ivan more) already are in contact with 1 of the hot girls. Yea, she is single, and probably wont rly mind some action even in our flat quite soon, as SHE initiated this discussion before the class' start when we accidently met before the building. Also w Ivan we keep on working on our fitness by running regularly, i also swim, he sleeps instead :P. However, we are both now doing coachings (he is starting to get more students) and discussing poker everyday, we are motivated.

Yesterday there were 2 bigger moments for me:

1, Ivan rly honestly thanked me for how i ve helped him progress at poker.. oh boy, did it feel good :f_biggrin: Not that long ago, i rly felt sad for him how he wasnt rly driven to push himself more and i ve been blaming myself for this partly coz yea, at times, he has it rough here, he is a foreigner, doenst know many ppl and even though all girls here are falling in love with him at the first sight, i think many times he s been so down in spirit that he couldnt even relish that.

2, Today, 14.10., is the day when i first make some sort of a media uncovering by appering in a national magazine put into circulation today. There is a 3 page article with few photos abt me in an arguably most recognized poker magazine in both Czech+Slovak reps. (the name for cze-svk readers: Royalflush). My Challenge for the best Slovak NL plr is officially announced there also. There are 4 medial partners of the thing, including Pokerstars and it seems i might be able to get more in touch w them on more events/projects in the future, is exciting. Also i am going to be making a regular blog on 1 other Slovak webpage (for Slovaks to keep track of: livepoker.sk) with some very interesting projects in the air and soon to be specified.. I am very thankful to the person who all did this.. bow ;)

All in all, its a part of deal, will be some work definitely, overall rly looking forward to the new experience, now basically there is no turning back. I am going to be much more recognized and that gives me many more opportunities, but provides also ofc many duties and responsibility for my image and those i will represent.

I will think a bit more maybe if we put in some drunk stories or so :) .. no, jk.. i ll write those, i never get too drunk anyway.. compared to some, at least, right Ivan? :P

gl to everyone

excerpt from yesterday's Eng class:

so the teacher has told to us to pair up and show the other guy a random object of ours and decribe it so that the one will be able then to present it to the whole class.. Ivan was paired up with the hottie Kate- no coincidence btw- the last time the class was over we stayed after the class to chat more with the teacher and obv made some aliances :) .. so he knew abt our preferences ;) .. so after the thing was over and Kate presented Ivan's phone which he has given her - ( i was amazed by how cheaply he wants to impress her btw), he comes to me saying dissapointingly:

"Omg, she didn't get it, i wanted her to type in her phone number in it."

..deep leveling already, well, yea, massive c/r on the R didnt work this time

lol at the comment about the c/r on the river.
also its good to see u getting some publisity

i am definitely getting older and wiser :f_biggrin:

btw, where is the vid from the swimming / insane laughing action? :) TT ftw there.. makes me smile even now still how i was laughing there..

@poker: hah, i run incredibly cold still.. its unbelievable i cannot run ~ev at any moment for last 4months

i also fhate midstackers.. so many ppl started to midstack lately. i rly need to analyse their game this week, coz i am prolly bleeding the most of my chips to them actually. There are no educational vids anywhere sofar, here 1st published is just intro, so i guess i have to do the work on my own.

fml, these classical scenarios: midstack BU who has BU steal of 70% minr.

now i am in SB with lets say A2-A9s

1, i am waaaay ahead of his range, so folding seems like getting exploited, esp for the minr, BUT: there is a fullstack bb after me, so i cannot do whatever i want+ :

if i 3bet: these ppl just fdont fold pf.. then i have with my Ax reversed implied odds and since they are short i have much less implied odds + close to 0 playability when i dont hit.

i rly helpless for now of how to fight vs them in the longrun.. i have quite decent mixed 3bet ranges both ip and oop, but the problem just is i can never put pressure on them postflop since the stack.. then i feel like i cannot rly bluff them anymore, bcs they are alw committed. the only thing i got to know sofar is that oop the best thing to do in a 3bet pot is to c/r a LOT - they alw bet with their wide range and i can easily balance my c/r range, while i cannot balance my b range so well esp coz on T there are gazillions of cards i have a much tougher decision than vs a fullstack since i cannot rly semibluff with feq anymore. if i was to use Ivan's words: yea, i hope they all die and choke with their bumhunted money.. they totally destroy the whole action on the table, think on NL1k+ they should be just banned, and min BI should be 100bb.

i have thought abt them for last 30mins or so and will now experiment with few things, definitely i am going to start taking serious notes on them, but anyway: if anyone knows abt some good educational material on midstacking, pls recommend.

isn't it true that to not be exploited you just need to fold less than they need you to to autoprofit from their steals? The range you choose to play back at them is of your choice, the fact that you fold A2 does not have to mean you fold too much if you choose other hands to play back at them.

I'd say a depolarized 3b range should work well - for example broadways are a much better candidate to 3bet them with than A5 as you have a much higher chance of hitting a top pair and if they really call 3bets that often they will be dominated often enough to offset the times you are dominated by them. So I would not worry about rev implied odds vs short stacks, especially if they raise in LP and call 3bets wide

One more thing that comes to mind is that by simply playing tight against them should bring a lot of profit in the big pots if they do not adjust and still call 3bets wide. You would give up a little vs their steals but you are giving up 1SB or 1BB and you should be able to make a lot vs them when you have the goods and offset the small losses.

As far as videos on the subject go, I would suggest watching some tourney vids as 40-50BB is the stack depth most prevalent in early/mid stages of MTTs and the good regs have the aggro play at this depth down pat. The thing that sticks out in my mind is betsizing. It's widely agreed that 3bets with these stacks should be sized ridiculously small like 2-2.2x IP and 2.5-2.8x OOP ( hell these guys are able to get 7-bets in pf like it's LHE or something :) ) and less than 1/2 pot bets postflop are also often used - this way you could build up enough leverage even vs a 50BB stack and be able to 3 barrell in a 3bet pot and make their life difficult while conserving chips if they want to get it in on the early rounds.

hey, good comment Yegon, esp the one abt learning from MTTs, rly never thought abt that, deffo must try to start taking some notes.. i am not even watching MTT instructional vids for now at all :( another room for progress identified :)

y, ofc i am using the small bet/raise sizings to lvrg. and exactly, the adjustment i did is just playing much tighter oop from now.

i have to experiment on balancing potcontrol turn lines ip also.. sofar my R feq on them is incredible, unfortunately have been having almost alw value hands.

heh, remember ur nickname from the 1st vid ;)

well.. what i mean, is there is any action of F, doesnt matter if me or him is pfa, and turn brings sth scary and it goes c,c .. then on the R when i bet, i was usually betting for value 2nd pairs+ and got a ton of folds..

already started taking it more with busto draws tho. usually they dont bet on T when they are rly giving up. esp oop.

@pokah: yesterday i ve played rly badly, i was sick to of it, couldnt rly make anything happen, was tired, slipped to abc nonbrain poker.

Today my day was like this:

got up @ 2PM, slow start to the day.. just making breakfast, going out for a shopping and i had this plan i will NOT play ABC..

i sat down at comp ~4PM, 1h analysis of regs from yesterday+ 1 theretical concept, and at 5 i started 1st session... started to get tired at 9PM, so took another break, eaten pasta, took excercise with my weight, few pushups etc.. watched 2 series of PAD the cashgame and got extremely excited from how Durrrr played in the end..

then this happened:

around midnight i started to play again (till 4PM -i cannot handle more than 4h sessions so i am forcing myself to quit after that coz i usually play too abc) : upswing!, (just 1k over ev, but few more favorable setups), but together with image.. very active, to say the least ;) , was totally killing tabs, so just wanted to check how much i made this very session, to feel some buzz again, coz for last 2 days i felt a bit down coz of the bad luck,.

In fact, for the day its 9k, but as u can see, within the last session i made over +10k in abt last 3h. played mostly 1k and 600, few 2k, on 2k, i managed few nice bluffs.. feels gooood :)

also, i didnt want to just brag, but within the session i noticed few patterns of my own play, which i think can help others:

its obv when u re tired u shouldnt play, but also what i found was: u shouldnt play, when u re too excited abt the results u re making! in any way. either minus : u wanna do some catching up, or u crash everyone and feel like u can do whatever u feel like on the tabs.

I still have some probs with the 2nd one. Now, when i am losing, if its ~5-6 BI of pure unluck and then suddently 1 bigger mistake i usually start cannot playing my Agame anymore so i force myself to quit. I had few occasions, when i ve played extremely well + running good and made ~10stacks within 2hours, but i rly started to spew a bit too much and alw lost like 2-3 then back on very very marginal spots which could have been avoided.

Instead, i want to put myself to the shoes of ppl who are losing to me their stack, how are they irritated and feel sad.. they usually slip to abc at that point, but pure agression out of the excitement is simply BAD. Must rly experiment on how ppl react to me when they are losing, so i can make my sessions longer in the most profitable way.

.. and yea, everyone watch Poker after dark the newest cash game! last 3 episodes or so.. just awesome.. omg, Viffer = total weak tight steamy FISH, omg, how could he get there.. i dont know how he is doing in his NL1k challenge from 2+2, but i would bet my money vs him if he plays so terribly.

yea.. now sleep and repeat it 2moro.. next intermediate results just when i ship some 10k pot :) hopefully next month

every day better, every day stronger..

ok, dont want to sleep now, reviewing hands, so i ll also add some advanced theory lesson for the followers, which i just realized today (so many small spots to work and improve on every day):

it will happen extremely rarely but is abs +ev, esp if the opp is a very good handreader. (NL600+ i guess)

so, in this scenario, c/shove on R with Ax to fold out splits is very sexy. The thing is, he is cannot rly have a higher fullh at all for 3 reasons: 1, PF -> cannot have AA, 2, the betsizing on R, and 3, coz we are late positions and assuming wide ranges he rly should raise somewhere before R to build up the pot with the active metagame vs Ax with 7x, 88. so w c/shove Ax u never risk losing actually

also, c/r on the R is kinda necessary vs his whole range i d say vs an active plr there, a lot better than bet with A, coz he is just not calling without an A anyway, but is always betting it (tho check beh is not bad but frankly, noone does it, even though they realize no worse is prolly calling-and betting for a split is kinda stupid) and u get an occasional bluff ofc, c/shoving big is abs BEST tho.. he tanked forever, and am quite sure folded Ax.

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $10(BB) Replayer
SB ($1,800)
BB ($1,077)
UTG ($335)
Hero ($1,919)
BTN ($1,124)

Dealt to Hero 7♠ 6♦

fold, Hero raises to $30, BTN calls $30, fold, fold

FLOP ($75) A♥ 7♦ 7♥

Hero bets $40, BTN calls $40

TURN ($155) A♥ 7♦ 7♥ 8♠

Hero bets $115, BTN calls $115

RIVER ($385) A♥ 7♦ 7♥ 8♠ 7♣

Hero checks, BTN bets $222, Hero raises to $1,734 (AI), BTN folds

Hero shows 7♠ 6♦

Hero wins $826

ofc, one can try it later without Ax as pure bluff, but this has to be supported with a very good read, otherwise hoping opponent folds his Ax so often as needed is prolly going to be incorrect, just coz ppl are curioooooooos.
