CO ($208.10)
Hero ($99.50)
SB ($162.55)
BB ($89.15)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 8♦ 8♥
3 folds, Hero raises to $3.00, SB raises to $9.50, 1 folds, Hero calls $7.00,

Flop: 2♠, 7♦, 3♣ ( $21, 2 players )
SB bets $14.00, Hero calls $14.00,

Turn: T♠ ( $49, 2 players )
SB bets $31.50, Hero calls $31.50,

River: 5♠ ( $112, 0 players )
SB bets $49.50, Hero calls $44.00,

Opponent is a fish: 40/13/1,5 AFq 32%. He fired quite often with air, also with lower pairs etc. But knew how to fold weak hands.
With those reads, is it ok to call him down ?

Hi,

imo, he has you beat.
I'd fold turn and wait for a better spot to stack him.

What did he have?

Best regards,
Anin

i dont see any sense on each street.
You cant call on set value pf and you cant call it for value even vs loose range (i even cant seee loose range there given your stats)
I dont see alot of value calling flop even if he barrelt overcards - its hard to play cos you'll have 2 more streets.
And on river you actually beaten like 100% of time.

Vs a fish I think the call preflop is thin but ok.
If he makes slightly more mistakes than we think, it's +EV to call.
Also I watched a video from BalugaWhale the other day and he talked about this concept of making slightly -EV plays preflop when there's a chance to stack the fish because he's the only one that really makes mistakes.

As played with a read that he's aggro postflop and likes to barrel it off imo the calldown can definitely be justified.
Without the read I'd just call flop - fold turn.

But what do you think about villains river bet ? It is pretty accurate to put me AI (sizing). Doesnt that mean often strenght ?

And here my reads on his loose range were based on his play , not stats. He called preflop with AA, QQ but 3betted something like K7 or 45 earlier.

In this hand he showed up with As4s .

W/o reads to me even the turnbet is pretty strong since it isn't a board where he can expect to fold out many hands, but since we have a read that he's capable of bluffbarreling a lot of hands his range is weaker.
Of course there are some hands in his range that have us beat, but he only has to bluff >25% of the time to make our rivercall +EV.

So in retrospect we can assume he has almost all Axs hands in his range, therefore there might even be more bluffcombinations than we expected.

how you gona play with overcards on the flop? How you gona play board like this but if he checks to us on turn?

On a T-high or 9-high board I call once, on a J+ board I probably fold.
But since he's a fish there might be times when he has AK, the board comes down Q high and we get to SD somehow or get him to fold his hand.

If as played he checks the turn I just check back to get to SD. We don't get any better hands to fold and most likely no worse hands to call so there's no point in betting.
