Nice! I'm doing Bachelors of Science (with a Medicine/Surgery dual degree) majoring in Biomedical science. I intend to start doing some research into Australian biotech stocks soon, they have the potential to perform very strongly. Average gain per annum for a model bioshares portfolio since 2001 has been about ~18.5%

this group sounds really really interesting and while I'm certainly not in a position to advise on stock choices at the moment, i'm prepared to work hard and do some serious research in order to generate cash flow.
Hi guys, i think the closest related thing you'll feel confortable doing would be trading (i personally like currencies more: forex). It's the same game of small edges where you need bankroll management, a large number of trades to figure out expectancy, etc.
However i find it way harder to make money out of this probably because it takes a really long time to make a representative number of trades so you're really in the fog a lot of the time.
Another problem is that even if you're good you probably won't make that much as compared to playing poker. The standard belief is that good traders make like 50%-100% per YEAR. Basically you need much more money to trade, with under 10k you're just wasting you're time.
I believe that this project should be more about finding stable sources of income which require relative little amounts of effort.
For a professional poker player (I'm not) having to spend hours trading, while counting on having a small edge over the market really doesn't make a difference over hours of grinding while counting on having a small edge over the other players at that table.
