CuCbKu lost a medium size pot. Player from UTG+1 open with a raise to 1550 and Andrei made a call from middle position. On flop 7:c J:h Q:d aggressor continued for 2800 and got call from CuCbKu. On the turn dealer showed K:h and we saw second barrel for 7200. Team member called pretty fast to see 2:d on the river. Then aggressor went into the deep tank. Finally announced all-in for 35 000. CuCbKu made fast fold and released the pot. After this hand he has about 50 000 in his stack.

TeddyTheKiller puts his tournament life to the risk. Michael Tureniec opened for 1450 from UTG. Teddy raised him from the button to 4000 and got called from the bad player on the big blind. Tureniec called also and we saw K:s 9:c 7:d on the flop. Action checked to Teddy, who put the continuation bet for 6700, then player from BB put him all-in. Tureniec went out, but Teddy insta called with A:s K:h. Unfortunately, opponent showed A:d K:d and after 8:c hit the turn players chop the pot.

Teddy lost some small pots and before this had about 21 000. Now he get some chips back and have around 24 000.

Simon: around 60 000
CuCbKu: around 50 000
TeddyTheKiller: 24 000
Peetoon: 20 000 (still on dinner break)

7th level of blinds come to the end. Now players are on 15 minutes break and after this whole field will be back again. In the last hand before break Simon sent shortstack to the rail. Player from the button opened for 1200 (miniraise), SB shoved and Simon woke up with A-K on the big blind. He shoved to isolate the short. Button folded and Team member was ready to play a flip against pocket 5-5. Flop was low, turn blank and … the black Ace on the river sent the shortstack to the rail.

Last hand before level ends saw CuCbKu playing some strange hand. After an open raise from UTG+1 for 1500, button called and Team member decided to put it from the big blind. Flop was 3:c A:c 9:d and action checked around. When 7:h hit the turn, CuCbKu bet 2000 and the original raiser was the one who called. Button folded and on the river we saw 3:s. Andrei checked and after 7100 bet from UTG folded immediately.

Simon: 63,000
CuCbKu: ~50,000
TeddyTheKiller: 28,000
Peetoon: ~20 000 (still on diner break)

Blinds up!

Players are back and now we have 8th level of blinds 400 / 800 ante 100. The Day 1A will come to the end when the last hand of 9th level is over.

CuCbKu killed shortstack!

All the time we can hear “sit open!” from the tournament area. Now the one who make the field thinner was the Team PokerStrategy.com member CuCbKu. Action folded to him on cut off, and he made 2000 to go. After button and small blind folded, shortstack on BB woke up with pocket 3:c 3:h and announced all-in for 4200 more. CuCbKu just said “I have to call” and did it with J:s 8:s – clear coin flip. Flop saw Td 9d 9c and now our player got lot of outs with open ended straigth draw and any ten for two pair with better kicker. Everything changed on the turn, where 7h hit the board and gave CuCbKu straight. Opponent has only 4 outs for better hand (two threes and two nines). Nothing bad happened, river was 6:d and Team member scooped the pot.
After this action he has 62 000.

CuCbKu is on hot run!

Team PokerStrategy.com member CuCbKu is on hot run, no doubt. Short after he killed the shortstack with J:s 8:s, he won a huge pot from very aggressive player. Both have some hoistory and CuCbKu folded two or three times to his opponent … last one he didn't and it was the hand of his villian. Opponent made an open raise from UTG. Andrei sow pocket K-K and decided to make a 3-bet. Villian then push his entire stack (over 30 000) behind the line with pocket Q-Q. Board didn't change situation and CuCbKu scooped the massive pot and built his stack to 98 000.

Simon scooped nice pot without the flop.

Simon opened for 2100 and very agressive player with huge stack (he is chipleader at the table) made a 6,200 to go. Simon only shaked his head and put a raise to 15,200. Opponent folded and Simon scooped the pot.

Simon: ~70,000
CuCbKu: ~98,000
TeddyTheKiller: 23,000
Peetoon: ~26 000

Boys and girls, the last level of blinds today has just started. Now we have blinds 500 / 1000 ante 100. All PokerStragists are still alive and this is the best news of the day. TeddyTheKiller can't move up, all the time he has between 20 000 and 30 000. In the very last hand of previous level, Teddy made 2100 to go from under the gun. Shortstack from UTG + 1 pushed his stack and action folded back to PokerStrategist. He has only few thousands to call and he did it with 7-5 suited. Opponent showed A-A, so Teddy was huge underdog. Everything changed on flop, where our player hit a flush draw and got 9 outs to win. Turn blanked, but diamond on the river gave him flush and sent shortstack to the rail.

CuCbKu is running very well and he has almost 100 000. Simon is good also with about 70 000 but now he has very tough opponent on his right – Jeff Sarwer sat byt the table and he wants to play with his 40 000! Peetoon made some moves and scooped few small pots, he has about 40 000 now.

Jeff Sarwer and Simon

Only 15 minutes left and opening day of PokerStars.com EPT Barcelona will come to the end. Action is dead and it seams players are waiting for the last hand to finish the game and start to think about Day 2.

Sometimes everything goes wrong. 11 minutes before end of the 9th level, the tournament director announced only 4 hands more and then … At the end of the day we had problem with internet access in the poker room. Im in the hotel now and posting from there. Good news first, bad news … I dont have any bad news ;) All Team PokerStrategy.com members ended the Day 1A with chips and we will see them in the Day 2. TeddyTheKiller and Peetoon are alive too. Unfortunately no internet connection means no official chipcount.

At the end of the day, Simon said: “I didn't have cards, I've won critical hands but I was bored so much and Im happy I didn't make something stupid during the day.” So, if he can end of the day with doubled the initial stack and with no cards – I don't worry about him anymore. He has now 63 000.

CuCbKu ran very well, but at the end he dropped a little in chips. He still has 84,300 and good start for Day 2 of the tournament.

TeddyTheKiller couldn't build his stack – 20,000 – 30,000 all the time. Maybe after tomorrow things will get better. Unfortunately I don't have information about Peetoom, but tomorrow morning I will post everything i can about him.

Thank you for reading this. See you tomorrow. Bye bye!

Fizoloff, thank you, nice report.

That's true.
But we want more photos! Perfect quality!

Welcome back from the Grand Casino de Barcelona where PokerStars EPT is running. Yesterday we saw 263 players fighting in session A of first day of the tournament. There were two Team PokerStrategy.com members Simon and CuCbKu. Both made through the day and we will see them in Day 2. Besides there were few other members of our community. I found only two of them TeddyTheKiller and Peetoon. They also ended with some chips and are ready for another day of the tournament.

Unfortunately, there is a big problem with an internet access and right now I'm offline. Day 1B is almost started and I'm waiting for fixing the problem.

Today there is one Team PokerStrategy.com member Thorsten and few other PokerStrategists which I'm trying to find all the time.

Shuffle Up And Deal!

At the end of the speech tournament director said this magic words and now cards are in the air.

Today field is huge. There is no official list yet, but in my opinion about 350 maybe 400 players are in. Among them We have many big names. I already saw Team PokerStars members Daniel Negreanu, Johnny Lodden, Luca Pagano, Dario Minieri, Marcel Luske and more.

Daniel Negreanu is sitting with Dario Minieri – two big names, two very different playing styles, I think it should be excited but not now. Why? Daniel looks veeeeery tired He's yawning all the time ;)

Thorsten said: “Nothing happens” and there is nothing to add. He won one small pot and he is up to 31 000.

Daniel Negreanu

Nice coverage!

Go Team PokerStrategy.com!

Blind up!

First hour of playing come to the end, now we have 2nd level of blinds 75 / 150. Thorsten has quite easy table and he is very active. He won few little pots and now is up to 35 000.

Daniel Negreanu

Usually when Negreanu is bored, he just talks and talks and talks. Guess nobody wants to listen today, or even he got tired of his own voice. ;)
