Hi lessthanthreee,
I just wanted to ask u a thing that bothers me for a while now.Is playing sng's in 2011 as profitable as it was in 2009 for u... is it harder now, do I have any chance of beating them as fast as u did or winning the same amount of $ as u?(aprox ♦ ).
I play mostly cash, but I like sng's cuz I can play for a longer time and the keep me more focused on playing and not get bored as fast as playing cash.
And what would u recommend for a beginner playing at lets say 2$ sngs ... Full Tilt or PokerStars?
Thanks.

I doubt <3 played sngs in 2011, but as I came from the future i can tell you that it did get a lil tougher, still very beatable, you just need to put a lot of time on improving ur game, at starters even more than you play;)
^^ lol
Hi fatal1tyOne.
Its hard for me to answer that question because I started playing STTs at the micros and moved up the stakes through the months that I have been playing. I cant compare mid-stakes '09 to mid-stakes '10 or HS '09 to HS '10 because I have not been playing the games for that long compared to others.
Obviously they arent as fishy as they were back in 2004-2005. But they are still beatable for a nice $/hr even at the highest stakes.
I suggest starting on FT because of rake-back. Good luck!
ill be playing STTs full time next yr. trying to decide whether moving to stars to go for SNE would be better than staying at FT...
thoughts?
anyone have any good information about the new changes to the VPP program.

Moving to stars and getting SNE would obviousy make you more money out of rakeback than on full tilt..
But I've heard the opponents are better on highstakes sng's on stars.. So maybe it would hurt your roi a lot?
I also think there are more traffic in the highstakes sng's on stars.. which would maybe increase your volume on the higher games???
Which would also make more $$$$
probably all things you've considered before so I'm not saying anything new.. but whatever ♦

Also keep in mind that SNG structure is different at stars (antes, etc)
Every good player is pretty quick to adapt to that.. or atleast I think so
yeh i would have to generate 15k rake / month. which is quiteee a big jump in volume from what im doing at the moment.
Stars has more people that have a general to even good and solid understanding of the game even at $6.50s
You obviously have the skill to beat them but you will be forced to play against more regs IMO.
Also table selecting at Stars is much more of a pain in the ass. They have the color code system but
you can not see the players in a lobby untill you actually open the lobby so you cant just insta see
who is in a registering game and decide to skip it.
Tougher for table selecting when you do not have many people marked yet for sure.
I hear it is profitable to play 180s and 90s and 45s if you are going to get in enough volume but IDK how
much of a learning curve it is for you to switch game types.

It's definitely profitable, but volume should be pretty sick, cause there aren't much action going at 27$+ limits.
EDIT: btw, i remember reading at your blog where you said that SB steal also counts isolations, is that really true? Cause i checked mine and both SB steal and SB PFR unopened are equal (there definitely were isolations).
Also, i have a question about 3bet%. It counts isoshoves, right?
Like if someone shoves 1,000 chips and other player comes over the top with 1,001 chip, it would count it to 3bet%?
ill be doing some more research over the last few weeks to see if its worth it.
I think if i can get a bit more backing and play just 100s+ on 9max + 6max STTs i shouldnt have too much trouble making monthly volume requirements for SNE. breaking even for 60% RB sounds good to me. obv my real roi would drop significantly, but I think i still have a big enough edge to grind out 1-2%.
Doesn't Black card + Iron Man give you a decent RB?
If you drop 1% ROI and gain 10% RB you are breaking even, right?
+ It will take time to become SNE...

But i guess, that benefits in 2k12 will be quite huge being SNE.

from my calcs iron man + black card = ~35% RB. SNE = 60%+
Im 80% certain im going for it after doing some thinking. Just have to confirm some details with my backer and make sure my set-up is good. It will be a big change, but it should force me to put in 100% effort every day to meet the strict volume requirements.
Worse case scenario I just move back to FT. no big deal.
If you want to go for SNE on stars you'll have to clear a huge volume.. but a lot of SNG players make it.
I think you'd best reach SN as soon as possible (like first month or second month) because it's a huge increase in rakeback and focus your volume in the first ten months of the year. In november-december a lot of grinders will be clearing the last VPP's for SNE so the games are really reg infested.

just as back up, would be good to just play minimally in FT to get the continuing months of iron man
A card runners video came out last week about going for SNE, it's aimed at FR cash players but I'm sure it will have a couple of useful pointers, from what I remember, get ahead of the yearly target and stay there! As viewer88 pointed out, the end of year is really reg infested. From $ I think it's worth $110-$130k + min $10k 2012 from earning5x FPP from Jan.
Hi there, Less. I dl sng wiz trial and would be pleased to know how to use it at its full potential. If you have some tips to get started it would be great. Here is my thread with some questions about wiz. Thanks ahead.

I would suggest going for SNE. During the journey you can buy some nice cash bonuses:
Reaching SNE means extra cash as follows: $23200 with milestone bonuses (800k points) + $2600 for 200k(4x650 bonus) when you reach SNE + $1000 in stellar rewards=$26800 extra cash for your efforts + some nice tourney packages + piles of money you make anyway
