I tried looking for a similar post didn't find it (or atleast didn't dig deep enough) so here it goes. I am playing on Pokerstars and today pondered about the difference between the 3.40 turbos.. there are 9man ones and the10mans. Is it better to go for a bigger field with bigger awards or not?
What do you think? Any one has ideas, tips which one's to choose? Or is it just personal preference?
The 9-man $3.40s on PokerStars are regular speed, while the 10-man $3.40s are turbos. That's the main difference. Regular SNGs take longer, but give you more play in the profitable early levels, so slightly higher ROIs are achievable in regular speed tournaments, although many feel that turbos let solid winners get more $/hour.
One past advantage to playing $3.40 turbos was that it was the lowest level of turbo SNG (while there were $1.20 regular SNGs), but I see that there are $1.75 turbos now. Any time you can play the lowest stakes game of a type available, the games will be soft. This is true even if it is a live NL $500 game which is the smallest NL game at a casino.
10-player SNGs let experts get a slightly higher ROI than 9-player SNGs, although they take a little longer, they produce a slightly higher variance, and they require slightly more complicated decisions.
Actually for some reason they now have both 9-man and 10-man turbos on the $3.40s. I would go for the 10-mans, the extra player tends to be dead money.

I agree with that, because players at these limits are often not very good and will bust early anyway.

That's what I was thinking, the game should not change that drastically, while I the payout for 1st place is $1.50 more than in the 9man sng..
@pzhon I was thinking the same all the time but one day I just got confused when I saw both 9man and 10man turbos.. I was like WHY..?
That's really odd that they have both 9-man and 10-man $3.40 turbos. I overlooked that. Thanks for correcting me.
