hey jb, Ive been interested in learning chess. I know the rules but my strategy sucks and I want to learn to play properly. when I was younger I tried out online chess back in 2002 and was rated around 1150 over 90 matches. I wouldnt mind learning some basics so I can enjoy playing some online :).

I remember like 5 way pot back when i played NL2, the flop came with three same suits. Nobody bet the entire hand and then showdown - one guy showed two pair and some other nut flush. Max value ftw. ♦

If u tried out online chess, was rated 1150 over 90 games, doesn't this kinda mean u already know the basics? I have a chessmaster game that is really good for learning basics though because it has like a "school" which teaches basic tactics like pinning, forking, etc. Of course u would have to download it if u don't want to pay

there are pretty much two possibilities for that hand - the guy didn't see he hit a set or b) he wanted to slowplay it and then the turn got him scared of a straight, so he checked again and then the river really messed it up for him so he was like ok f** it I'm not gonna bet at all now!

obv I want to learn more than the basics. Ive been looking at the exeter chess club website and they have some nice articles... all ive found so far that isnt omg difficult.

As far as I can remember, this is good.

I think I like The Pineapple Thief even more than Porcupine Tree atm. Must be something to do with the initials. If there was a band out there called Perfect Toenails or The Piss Takers, I'd have to listen to them too.

My parents visited this weekend. Usually stressful, but both they and the kids were pretty well behaved, even when we went out for Sunday lunch. This may have been due to the fact that, on the Saturday evening, struggling as usual to find some TV to watch with them (not too rude, not too intellectual, etc.), we watched some episodes from series 2 of Outnumbered. We have BT Vision, so it was there on demand. I've never watched this before, but it was basically me and my life, if a little exaggerated. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

I am going to have to watch the rest of the episodes. Unfortunately my eight year old was also watching, and we're slightly worried by how much he enjoyed it.

Oh, and I played some poker tonight. I don't think the graph below needs much explanation. Massive suckouts at the start of the session, but I didn't tilt, and I felt like I was playing well.

Jb do you mind posting ur stats? I still have no idea how u get these kinda non-sd winnings. Even tho i steal like 60%, mine are still negative.

It's easy. If you don't fold enough, your red line doesn't go down, but your blue line does.

What stats would you like?
