Edinburgh: Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, Britannia, maybe the national musuem of Scotland (don't remember too much about the museum, but I guess it was nice)

depending on your timetable you can also do some gallerys and churches..and if you like nature the royal botanic garden and the arthur's seat could be something for you

I really enjoyed my holidays in Edinburgh 4 years ago, its a beautiful city with much charm

I also was 1 day in Glasgow, but haven't seen enough to give to good tips...

edit: I have heard you can do a ghost and walking tour in Edinburgh

@ miguelruiramos: Methils not far from where i live - i try avoid it as often as possible

@ Gerv: Its normally cold wet n windy around April so bring a brolly n some warm clothes with you _cry: If your lucky tho the weather might be reasonable as it has these last 2 years - but then scottish weathers not exactly predictable... apart from the cold, the rain and er, oh aye, lets not forget the wind.. Hope u have a nice time in the capital m8 :f_cool:

In Glasgow it really depends what you're looking for.

For lots of fairly loose student girls, "The Garage" or "Campus" is the best bet. The Garage is always mobbed with lots of young ladies and its where I went pretty much every night when I was a student.

For Alt/Rock type night out, "The Cathouse" plays Classic and modern Rock and gets a really mixed age group, and "Classic Grand" is like a slightly more up to date version with younger clientel.

For Dance (as vague as that term is) venues you have "The Arches", which is a pretty big deal. They often have big acts playing and you might be able to catch a decent show whilst you're in town. Regardless, their club nights at the weekend are generally pretty good. the "Sub Club" is a bit different and probably thiks of itself as a classier Arches. Ive only been a couple of times and its been okay, but pretty expensive.

Getting older I find myself going to the non standard places and would personally recommend some bars on Bath street. "Saint", "Moskito", "Bunker" "The butterfly and Pig". Bath Street also has some decent non-mainstream clubs like "Hummingbird", "The Buff Club" and "Kushion". It's where I spend most of my weekends off these days.

These places are all in the City Center too, If you're willing to go to the Merchant City (short walk) or The West End (short taxi), theres loas more available.

The bonus of drinking in the city center in the evenings as you're never too far from a casino with a live cash game should the notion take you.

If you want any more info, let me know.
