overall i dont wanna waste too much time trading play money. wanna make the mistakes in with real $$ to learn faster

Hey TwiceT!

I have some experience w/ trading stocks, commodities, hoes ... whatever.

1. Backtesting sucks a ton. It will never give u good results. I mean it may give you good results but these systems are not sustainable. Markets are dynamic, u know what that means, there are NO profitable systems or strategies, forget about that. You, ofc, must have some basic knowledge but this is full of sh@t. I have hundreds or ok, maybe tens of profitable systems that I wrote in the past at MQL4 but this is in the past, they don't work anymore. The most important thing is to just learn the basic concepts, watch out and be resilient.

2. It's better, imo, to start w/ real $$$. Don't play w/ this virtual sh&t. It won't make you a good trader. In fact, that maybe is not a good advice by me, but this is how things worked for me.

3. Don't try to day trade or scalp the markets if you don't have a rly good broker and/or direct access to the markets ... it's just burning money.

4. Imo it's better to trade long-term and invest in stocks, bonds .... whatever you like or mix it up. In fact, for me mixing it up is the nuts .... you already should know about diversification. If you're good you'll have very high ROI over the long run ... and you'll save a lot of brain cells. If you try to scalp pr day trade it will be the opposite.

Hope that will be interesting and help you in some way.

Cheers

@tobycs:
Talk abt nt busting first before talking abt making $. He prolly hasnt even made
His first trade yet let alone his first live trade mistake.

Anyway are u even talking abt forex trading? Theres so many approaches u can take. Some
Deposit big rolls n aim a small ROI/mth as income. Or some put small rolls and run it up to
Big amt and withdraw rinse and repeat. Some have many accs, and aimt to make overal profit with diff strategies. Some use EAs or even robots to trade.
I know a guy who dep 2k and run it up to
Somehing like 50k and withdraw. The power is in compounding... At 10% roi per week, your 1000$ acc becomes a mil in 73 weeks

@ boyanbozhidarov:

i agree with everything u wrote:
cant/dont want to talk about my detailed plans here right now, but we are on the same page in general. pls add me in skype ;)

(btw: im no a fan of backtesting, but have to admit i was partly wrong as i got to know a rly cool and nice longyear pro who has many rly sick systems running and he ONLY uses systems he backtested before (have seen some sick shit )

@ rio:

im not talking about any form in particular atm. i know some pros in every field now and have a solid overview. but u cant trade commodities or stocks with 500. and even mini accounts with forex doesnt make too much sense except learning how to play/lose real money

we can have some strategy discussions in bkk in may ;)

Nice discussion. Im a fish and will just keep reading.

TwiceT, dont you think your master degree and all the study in uni will help TONS at this area? Maybe not in a practical way, but maybe u will see things that ppl that havent gone to college will never see. Its hard to believe that all those years u spent working hard to make good grades arent useful.

ofc all the knowledge i gained is useful overall in life and especially for my future business ventures.

but when it comes to trading, it doesnt help all that much imo. ofc i can read a balance sheets/financial statements better than the average joe and i might understand some macroeconomic correlations more in depth .... but that doesnt rly make me a pro trader. the more we know, the better tho.

its like with poker. it might help to have learned something about probabilities in school ... but in fact, it wont rly give u a big advantage cuz there is way more to it than these basics.

I play on Boss but it's pretty bad. Software sucks really hard, and it's probably the worst there is

Also there isn't a lot of traffic, I rarely get any action above 20/40 on fixed limit.

lol I like the software. I think the skins can be awfully unattractive to the eye though. PH and Mermaid look reasonable though imo.

yeah granted traffic is low; most of them are fish, so who cares :f_biggrin:

I time out often when playing 1 table FLHU which is pretty weird. Also the buttons you have to click on are so small that you misclick a lot

plo :f_love:

question @ chemical/biology pros:

yesterday i had a plo400hu deeeeeeep session and my opponent (rly weak passive bad plr - the type of guy u wanna play against all day long - ash railed me and saw the pwnage a bit) sucked out in one huuuge pot in a very cruel way (the famous 1 outer)

mindset wise, i know exactly how to deal with those situations. however - that usually only happens in plo btw - is there any way i can stop my body to overreact so much. i mean the second i get sucked out so much a chemical process in my body starts and i feel rly rly sick. i know it must be mind-wise but i cant stop that shit. if i walk away, take a breath and come back after 2 mins, its usually ok. but in those 2 minutes the fish probably leaves.
but when i continue playing i feel like i might not play my best. im not rly sure, probably have to record the play immediately afterwards but who thinks about that shit when sb luckboxes for 800bb pot.
my hands even started shaking (dunno cuz of anger?!) ... i mean that cant help my mind to keep being focused.

u guys have any idea what i mean? sounds a bit as im mentally handicaped

but in hu, it rly sometimes happens to me and i dont know if i can improve it by working on my mindset. my mindest i think is great. i deal with it like a pro and continue playing my best ... im just sure i dont play my best and im afraid it costs me $$ longterm and i dont even recognize it. its like my body tells my mind i kinda "have to tilt" now.

ah fuck, what an unstructured post ... i will go to bed now. but if anybody has any tips, let me know

yoghi, tln and all the other midstakes+ hu plrs: u play hu for many bb/$$ .... how did u manage not to let your body outplay your mind?!

interestingly it doesnt happen to me in sh ... not even on 2k. my body reacts so strangely ... must be "the personal" thing in hu ...

btw: i just continued playing yesterday while my hands were shaking a bit and my body tried to outplay my mind ... i made back 300$ in some hands by playing what i consider a-game .... till he suddenly sat out and quit the match saying "gg, ty" :f_biggrin:

Study some NLP, understand it, practice it ... should help ... in fact I'm sure it will :f_biggrin: It's the most +EV thing to know how your brain works and how to deal with this f@cker, obviously. Not just in poker but everything.

Just get a huge upswing so you never lose

That's how I got used to it. Then I had to move down a lot, now I'm moving up again and it still hurts. Like lost more than 40k in 200 hands against a fish, and I really reacted badly to it. Don't know why I didn't have it like 18 months ago, but I have it now.

Just play a lot and you'll get used to it I guess, just don't try to see it personal because then it will hurt a lot

First of all that's not the point. I would never give money for some sort of "NLP life coach" or some other stuff like that (no matter if I have 1k in my bank account or 1 mill), and I think people who are giving money to them are just desperate or whatever. It's like to go to psychiatrist - "someone to solve your problems".

Second, psychology aspects are very important factor in everything you do. So if you want to succeed in something you have to become good in this thing and have the motivation to improve. You cannot build motivation if you don't know what motivates you and don't have your reasons -->> you must know yourself and know what you want -->> you must know how your brain works and why is working this way.

Example: everyday you're shitting your pants -->> you want to stop shitting your pants, but first of all you don't really know WHY you're shitting your pants -->> how the f@ck you can find a solution if you don't even know what are you looking for. That's were understanding personality and psychology can help you.

P.S. That's just example, no offense to anyone. I have tolerance for people who don't know what they're talking about :f_biggrin:

P.S.2 TwiceT, sorry for the spam

Cheers

Y, I deffo agree w Boy
To solve a problem u need to know the source of the problem- the core if u will
And if u wanna solve a problem w ur psichic/emotions, etc. u need to understand them and know why shit happenes and then u can start to search for a solution

thnx 4 comments guys.

ok, so my problem is:

my mind doesnt tilt anymore
my body is shitting his pants and tilts

how to work on body-(mind)set?
but in fact its not true, cuz my body (muscles etc) cannot think ... so in the end its all starting in our brain ...
