How do I perform a clean install of 0.98?

Hi all,

So I had 0.9, HUD wasn't working properly on FTP. So I installed 0.98 which gave me some message about re-configuration of a previous database. It seemed like I chose it in the settings but Elephant wasn't picking up any hands at all.

So I decided to do a clean install once again.

1) Uninstalled Elephant
2) Uninstalled PostgresSQL
3) Manually deleted all traces of PostgresSQL (folders & registry)

BUT now when I install 0.98 it doesn't offer me to setup PostgresSQL like it did the very first time when I installed 0.9.

Even after I cleaned it all up it tells me "database missing".

So my question is:

How do I install Elephant with a built in option to install PostgresSQL?

In case you gonna offer to install PostgresSQL manually, please tell me how, cause I tried that and it seemed like the installation was stuck at the last stage for more than 20mins, after which I pressed cancel.

Hi pokermomrussia,

in order to uninstall Postgre you have to delete the remains incl. Postgre's user account:

1) Deinstall it through the "normal" way at first "Software" => Deinstall
2) Delete the folder "\Programs\PostgreSQL\8.3\data"
3) Delete the windows user which has been created through the system options.
4) Delete the folder of the windows user: "\Documents and settings\postgres"
5) Delete "\Documents and settings\%USER%\application data\postgresql"

That should do it and after that Elephant will ask you to setup Postgre once again.

In case the elephant itself does not offer you to install postgreSQL again, please install it manually by using the installer file located in the PokerStrategy.com folder. (Elephant installation folder).

During the installation, please make sure to note down your password which you are choosing.

Hi Larres and mrk1988,

Thank you for your help. Problem solved, Elephant seems to be running on FTP. The key to this problem was to delete old Elephant folders located at 4) and 5) as well.

hi,

can you explain where the files are for vista so i can delete them. In a simple and clear way so i understand as im stupid....

I tried to install postgre manually but it got too complicated so i exited installation.

I can uninstall it via: control panel\programmes and features

I hope i find this thread tomorow

I deleted everything but it doesn't say do i want to install postgre

can some one post a video of how to do it manually as it gets advanced and I don't want to mess something up.

Dear Mr elephant/PostgreSQL next time you make something like this make sure when you click uninstall it uninstalls its self saving only hand history data base.

Makes sense to me .........

Where exactly do you need help now?

Installing postgreSQL? Just start the installer located in the pokerstrategy.com / Elephant folder and follow the instructions off the installer. There is nothing you can do wrong if you read every page during the installation. You have to create a password for the "postgres" user, do the same again for the service account and thats it.
