Poker is your job and every day you lose 1K, is a bad day.I think this is an important point.
Losing 1k (or any $$$) isn't technically a bad day, just as winning $1k isn't a good day - if you're going to be a long term winning professional poker player. If you get cooler after cooler after setup then that's just variance. A bad day is shipping stack after stack in bad spots.
Being able to know that variance is what it is, is probably the next most important aspect to being a professional poker player behind having a solid BRM (whatever that means to you) and having a mindset of continuous improvement.

1. You played well. Right?
2. You understand variance. And accept it, right?
3. You have strong mindset? You know for what you're playing? Have a big picture?
4. You enjoy playing poker? It gives you good emotions? or only stress, pain and you feel exhousted after sessions? Maybe when you win you feel great! and when you loose you feel like shit despite the fact that you played well?
5. You are not result oriented? Do you..?
6. Why you play poker?
7. You have big enough BR that allows you to feel comfortable even when every move you make ends up failing?
8. You truly are confident in your game? You know that you have/playing winning strategy?
9. Open up your ALL-TIME poker graph in bb's and look is this 10BI downswing looks that bad?
10. Are You ready to have times like this if you play NL100? What will be when you play NL200?
11. continue to ask questions by yourself... ![]()
I don't know personally you but it seems that your attitude towards money is a leak. And also where is your confidence? You're winning player so you must be happy and proud of that! Where is your winner spirit??? Keep on crushing the competition! Think about how many days you will have +1k$! And so on! Get into deeper levels of your mind. Be aware. Now is the best time to fix this leak. Good luck with that ![]()
btw: you focus on money or on improving your game day by day?
I know the feeling pretty well. When I'm down 1-2 BI thats np, but when some retarded short comes and cracks my top set with Q8 (runner straight) then I get pissed. Then I want to "KILL" that short and he gets lucky again, (top pair vs his top pair with retarded kicker, ofc he gonna get his 2nd pair, why not?).
Then I get KK vs AA like 3 times? MAN 3 times SB vs BB in like 1hour? My sessions can be for 10 hours when I'm down. I take few pauses but I have this need to finish my session at least at 0 or -2BI max. Yesterday I was down 12 BI, I got the KK 10 times, my tracker says i am with KK at -4BI. I 5bet like 40BB-s and still idiots call.
Then I got my AA vs KK, and guess what came on the turn? A DAMN KING! After I am down 3-4 BI-s i don't think straight... the 3 times KK vs AA, 2nd and 3rd time i KNEW he has AA but still I can't fold or not shove?!? Why I am so "dumb" (not listening to my reads) when I'm down. I'm not even so tilted I just wanna break even. I am waiting for the FAIR hand to tell me: "Okay now you gonna earn some cash".
Ah yea yesterdays session (cca. 8k hands) i got 4 times QUADS, 1 royal flush, 3 straight flushes, and was still down? I analyze my play, I did good, but I just get "owned" by the river. Then some retarded short comes at my NL10 table with 3.5$ and goes out with 30$ because his VPiP is 83%.
I play on OnGame and when I sit on a table I usually have 3 guys (5 max) with VPiP over 60%. I raise my shovable hands 12BB-s and still they CALL! Yesterday
funny hand, I am not in the mood to search my tracker but it was K4 vs my KK. Flop was 944! Preflop raise on nl10; 1.90$ he had no odds, nothing, he had K4s....
Or top 2 pair on A T 5, guy shoves A7 of hears and gets RUNNER HEARTS, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I am still tilted, so many fish there, so many good reads I had and still they HIT THE RIVER!?
R.I.P. Bankroll management.

I know what you speak about i5bet, I always talk about my sick badbeats to my friends, I even say it to my mom, simply because she asks, "why you look, like you wanna kill somebody?"..sadly sick losses or just a very sick bad beat can fuckup my mood, and everyone will know when I lost a big hand.. my poor gf knows this the most, but I cant really stop it, I feel my heart beats faster I'm getting warmer, like its a fever and just feeling like..u know, full of rage and shit.. this is in peoples temper, some does this, some will never do.. im the one with temper sadly.. wish I didnt have this..but I believe it can be removed with practice..1year ago if I lost 2flips in a row I was really like the most pessimistic (why should i raise this AA i gonna loose it anyway... style like this) but these days I only get mad when I lose big pots, like 300bb+ pots..so I guess there is a way to eliminate feelings from poker and poker from real life.. ohh I just got it... why dont you have a meeting with dr. phil ? i heard he knows about this stuff alot..you know..
FYP.
On more serious note, it very rarely affects me. When I close my apartments door behind me, I don't think anything poker related anymore. There's no reason for me to do that. I gain zero things for dwelling in losses or celebrating winnings, I don't even think any hands after that. Big winning days are variance, big losing days are variance. Absolutely no reason to feel emotionally attached. Poker is something that happens when I'm playing/analyzing/studying it. No one REALLY cares about your bad beats, session results etc. so why should you?
For me it's easy. I never talk about poker with my friends. If someone asks something about it, I'll answer, usually shortly. Why? I've got better/more interesting stuff to go through with my friends.
My stupid plays make me feel bad, not the money I lose... I don't miss it IRL. It's really those fishy calls and spews that make me tilt. Don't mind losing a 300bb stack to someone who calls my AA shove PF and hits his set or whatever.
i also dont talk about poker with friends unless 1) They also play poker or 2)They ask me about it directly
1. You played well. Right? Yes
2. You understand variance. And accept it, right? Yes
3. You have strong mindset? You know for what you're playing? Have a big picture? OK mindset wise but sometimes i do have to quit b/c i feel tilty
4. You enjoy playing poker? It gives you good emotions? or only stress, pain and you feel exhousted after sessions? Maybe when you win you feel great! and when you loose you feel like shit despite the fact that you played well? Yes i enjoy poker and feel incredible happiness after a winning session
5. You are not result oriented? Do you..? I am results oriented ![]()
6. Why you play poker? For fun, its a hobby
7. You have big enough BR that allows you to feel comfortable even when every move you make ends up failing? Ya i am overrolled at 100.
8. You truly are confident in your game? You know that you have/playing winning strategy? Yes i know i am playing a winning strategy, i have graphs to prove it
9. Open up your ALL-TIME poker graph in bb's and look is this 10BI downswing looks that bad? I used to tilt really hard so 10BI is nothing
10. Are You ready to have times like this if you play NL100? What will be when you play NL200? This is actually one of the reasons y i am not moning up (i think i have enough skill and i have a sufficent roll)
i have read it 3 times tbh. it really doesnt help. I dont think this is really too much a mindset problem anyways b/c i am able to quit when i am tilty and rarely get tilty. It just my feelings of the table.
15bet72o, I used to get like that a lot, and lose like 10 buyins etc like u say and feel terrible about it. but also win entire bankrolls in a day just getting ridiculous streaks playing heads up nl and 6max, and of course winning tourneys. I play differently now, in a lot of ways I think I play better, and now I dont have many swings, except when I grind fixed limit 6 max, which tends to have a lot of variance no matter how well I play, but when the going is good in FL 6max... I too like to grind nl100 at the various sites and find even in very aggressive shorthanded games where im getting aggro i still havent lost 10 buyins in a day for a very long time, but maybe this is cos i can grind for upwards of 12 hrs in a day no problem. If youre a winning player then money takes care of itself, just respect your bankroll, which I learnt the hard way....twice?:( Far more important than any of that is that you are happy and you enjoy life. You need to be stress free and undistracted by poker when youre away from the table so that you and your family can be happy, and that you can always be on your A game

Firstly i am a winning poker player. Secondly I can quit when down fairly easily. After I leave the tables down money I feel sad when doing other things absolutly nonpoker related. Do u guys also feel this way?
yes. it normally subsides after an hour or so though, or if i get distracted with something. only happens to me if I lose 2BI + in a session.
i know this will sound wierd but just do not think about it
that s the only advice i can give you because i had the same problem
but when i have a huge losing session i just think that a while ago i had a very good one and it s perfectly normal for something like this to happen
so i tell myself: "tomorow is another day" and for the rest of the day i'll never think about poker again
it helps me and i hope it will help you

That's me that is.
Feeling it right now in fact. Lost 3BI in 10 mins. Could be more if I didn't quit though, have to focus on that really.

I've heard about a lot of pros saying their friends/girlfriends, parents, siblings or whatever can actually tell when they're having a good day or a bad day at the tables... I haven't had a moment like that yet![]()
It's not only with pros. My GF always knew when i had won or lost money when she saw me the same day. Pretty weird tho. Sorry for my bad englisch (I'm from Belgium)
tbh i dont think my friends/family can tell when i am up/down money (i have a good poker face).

don't look at the stupid cashier, you will still know if you are down but not knowing exactly how much will help to not feel sad.
+1 checkin your balance and graphs make it worse.. just dont look, you will get used to it
