I don't understand a fucking word of that justices link bullshit. Someone explain to me in Layman's terms how does money laundering work and don't they have to prove each and every case? They can't just take innocent people's money!!!

SNGs now seem to be overly infested with regs on stars

I have 5k on stars, do you guys think its better to do a bankransfer which takes 3-5 days usually or just send it to money bookers. I cant send money from my money bookers to debit card yet because i need to verify account so money will basically be stuck in moneybookers for 5 days b4 i can take it out, which is also dangerous.

moneybookers does not allow americans so u should be fine

definitely to moneybookers. It'll be 100% safe on MB. But if you cash out to your bank it takes longer and it may be too late. May not, but I'm really not sure.

edit: It may be too late if you'll have to wait like up to 24 hrs to have your cash out processed, because by then, is possible they won't have enough liquidity.

i would rather have the money stuck in moneybookers than stuck in a transfer to your bank. it might never get there

Interesting day for online poker.
Here's my take on what little information I've been able to gather:

On the charges of violating the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, well poker sites have always argued that it didn't apply to them as poker is a game of skill rather than luck, so it could be a good thing for that to have its day in court - could be the start of legalized online poker in the US.

Unfortunately the charges of fraud and money laundering appear alot more serious. If convicted, and the feds have a real high success rate, the maxumum penalty of twice and amount laundered could lead to a fine into the billions of dollars...ie the end of pokerstars, fulltilt and a real collapse in the poker world - I mean how many events and pros are sponsored by stars and tilt ?

Anyone able to shed more light or correct me ?

I took most of it out and left a bit to clear take 2...
But is it the whole site affected or just americans?

The fish are going to ditch and online poker on any remaining site is now going to have a disproportionate number of regs to fish as displaced regs move elsewhere. The games are going to get tougher and tougher as a consequence in the short term.

if anything the games are going to get easy for a little bit because fish will unlikely not read the news for a bit.

I withdrew from FT 1.5k and was insta approved. I'm from Slovakia.

Well, I don't think EU players' money would be in danger because of this all, because FBI nor US government can't stop them from serving non-US players.
!!!BUT!!! this can can start big panic wave of withdrawing. And that can cause big trouble. It's like when there starts a rumor about a healthy bank, that the bank has problems, the bank WILL have problems because people will be uncertain and will withraw moeny. But banks nowadays holds only ~10% in liquidity. I bet the same is with poker rooms because there's no way a 5% of money would be asked to cash out in a single week. Unless something like this happens. Unless they have some other arrangements for situations like this I'm not aware of, I think in few hours they won't be able to proceed withdrawals because of lack of liquidity.

Of course, I might be mistaken

Look what else is happening in the USA right now:

WASHINGTON—With a shutdown of the U.S. government just hours away, Republicans and Democrats in Congress were unable to compromise and continued to trade charges Friday over who was holding up a deal to prevent a major disruption in Americans’ lives.

Republicans said there still was no deal on how much to cut spending by government agencies for the remaining six months of the 2011 fiscal year. Democrats said a deal had been reached during overnight bargaining. Republicans, they said, were now trying to back out of that agreement to meet demands of some members in the House of Representatives who were insisting that money be withheld from Planned Parenthood, an agency that provides medical care and family planning for low-income women.

A shutdown would lock out hundreds of thousands of government workers — some estimate 800,000 or more — and cause major inconveniences for the public. President Barack Obama said the shutdown would harm the still-fragile U.S. economic recovery.

At issue is an ideological battle over appropriating the money necessary to keep the government operating through Sept. 30, the end of the 2011 federal fiscal year. Majority Republicans in the House of Representatives have insisted on slashing $61 billion from what was budgeted and have attached political directives that would have erased federal funds for Planned Parenthood.

Republicans apparently have dropped their insistence on slicing away money that goes to the Environmental Protection Agency for regulating greenhouse gases and other pollutants.

In the latest salvo, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, backed by more than a dozen of his fellow Senate Democrats, said House Republicans wanted to make it harder “for women to get cancer screenings.”

He was responding to a statement by Republican House Speaker John Boehner earlier in the afternoon that claimed: “Most of the policy issues have been dealt with and the big fight is about spending.”

Boehner wants the White House and Senate Democrats to accept a one-week stop-gap bill that would fund the Defence Department for six months, cut spending by $12 billion and keep the government operating. The House passed the bill on Thursday.

The White House has labelled the Republicans’ one-week spending measure a distraction and said Obama would veto it.

Republicans, riding the wave of the deeply conservative Tea Party movement that swept them to control of the House in November elections, insist on deep spending cuts to tackle the spiraling U.S. debt brought on by uncontrolled deficit spending over the last decade. This year’s deficit will easily top $1 trillion, raising the debt to more than $14 trillion as the government has poured money into the economy to prevent a financial collapse and pull the nation out of the Great Recession.

All of this seems like it's just the eleven people alleged of bribing the smaller bank representatives, and masking bank operations, so they look like online shop payments. Seizing the websites looks to be just thetrical in this case. Withdrawal wave induced should make some problems in the aftermath though.

for some reason i imagined it to be the opposite especially this close to it all kicking off, the fish are less likely to be browsing poker forums and such i imagine although i know its making headlines everywhere not just poker communities but i imagined the fish wouldnt be as aware of the implications of it all and as we are seeing here many of the regs attempting to withdraw asap

Konkey you are right. The problem though is that the US is attempting to seize all of these Pokersite's assets. If I seize your assets that means you have nothing left.

How they could do this when these sites have lots or most of their profits from players from non-US countries I don't know, but why take the risk?

and the pro's that move away from the us to keep playing won't do it inmediatly. so if I wasn't scared about fulltilt closing it would be wyse to start grinding

@topic: still waiting aproval from fulltilt, stars insta-aproved my "huge" $400 cashout.
