I felt like this few month ago so I quit. But I missed the game and am starting again with "house" money on nl10 - didn't want to deposit and lose more of my money.
In $/h it's probably waste of time but otoh I'm having so much fun and even making few cent here and there. we'll se how far it will go

anyway, taking a break is deff +EV

therefore drop down rebuild some confidence - make money so you freeroll on a shot at the higher limit. will take a lot of pressure off imo

before christmas on ipoker i had 4.5ptbb/100 over like 90k hands at 100nl and like 2ptbb/100 over a small sample at 200nl, but you could still be right if my game has deteriated i wouldn't be suprised if it was something like that

well i haven't run great, but i obv cant blame it on that rly. thanks for the advice though

Toby... there is hope. I think this post is interesting, because this is what I went on about in my blog. This is how I have reacted so often in the past too, but am not anymore. You know, it's all in the mindset.

I don't doubt you have the skills to beat the game, but what goes wrong is your mindset. I mean mine used to go like this too. And the problem is that once you are in this negative spiral nothing seems to or is likely to help.

I know it may seem like "nothing seems to help" but trust me, in the end you will have a mindset strong enough to cope with these kind of swings. Should you not have tilted during all this your results wouldnt have been as bad, and you wouldnt have been as upset with yourself imo.

The true skill in poker, I more and more believe to be the mindset. You obviously have what it takes to improve and beat this game, but I don't think you have what it takes to learn to lose in this game. So imo get that sorted and get back on the tabs already.

You thought of learning a new game? PLO or some form of draw maybe? Could be what you need to refresh yourself a bit.

It worked for me when i needed to reignite my passion for the game

I've wanted to learn PLO for a long time, not too interested in mixed games. Although I think I have enough on my plate at the moment and I still have a lot of passion for NLH so don't think that is an issue

Try to think back to the bad times before and how you have come out of them.

If all else fails watch an episode of High Stakes Poker, that always gets me motivated ♠_cool:

I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago, which probably was bad luck, tilt & unexperience in CG for me. Thing is, it's so incredibly hard to look objective at your own game when you are tilted which leads me to believe you might have to take a week or two of from the game, do nothing that has to do with poker and when you feel ready start slow, analyse your losing sessions objectivly and rebuild yourself. This will all be easier once you've had your mind on other things for awhile.

another two losing session i dropped down to 3 tables, just sat there staring at the screen. taking a million notes, definitely playing great poker. if only the results would come.. i guess i gotta drop to 25nl now.. sigh

Yea I know the feeling... My bankroll wasn't as big as yours but I got like one winning day in the last 2 weeks (playing almost every day) and lost 2/3 of my bankroll. From being almost rolled for NL50 to playing NL10...

It really sucks and I really feel like you said; i'm working really hard on my game and nothing seems to work. My mindset is really good too I literally never tilt anymore but since my results are going this bad i'm sort of drifting into a permanent depressed state lol and it's probably gonna start affecting my play soon. Anyhow, kinda sucks what happened but maybe someday you'll get the drive to play again heh? GL
