A second 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit Christchurch a couple of hours ago - much more severe in impact than the September 7.1 quake as it was shallow and centred near the central city during the lunch hour.

Not that anyone there will be reading this, but be safe folks. Our thoughts are with you.

Shit's pretty crazy down here. 65 confirmed dead at the moment but that'll probably climb. So far everyone I know is ok and I hope it stays that way.

A massive shelving unit thing fell down at work and somehow 2 of the guys managed to get between the shelves as it fell down. Very lucky.

My thoughts go out to anyone who is hurt, lost someone or homeless.

A friend of mine was filling gas when the earthquake hit. She got pinned between her car and the gas pump. She's fine now, but I imagine the experience was traumatic for all involved.  Best of luck Christchurch.

And is the death toll really 65?! That's MASSIF for a New Zealand disaster, Jesus this is terrible :(

EDIT: Yeah.. 65 confirmed and expected to exceed 200....

hey guys, sry for hijacking this thread.

i'am a german guy in the mid twentys, and i'am looking for some options after college. So i thought that spending a year in australia oder new zealand could be a good start. Maybe spending half of the time in NZ, half of the time in AUS - but i'm still unsure.

Can you tell me something about the legal situation concerning poker in new zealand, please?
Are there plans for regulations or bans in the future? Any Problems with Netteller/Moneybookers and so on? If i use a work and travel visa, no one should care what i do or?

I think this are enough question at first ;)

Ps: i'm afraid my english is a bit rusty, but I hope you can help me

thank you

pretty sure u'll be fine mate..

no laws against online poker (and none planned)

i think you have to pay tax if its MORE THAN JUST a hobby, however, i dont think this is ever enforced. i dunno about moneybookers or netteller i dont use those. just when u go through customs say ull be doing no work and already have money for ur extended stay. NP

Before Black Friday we had a system in place where you could transfer money to a intermediary who would bank transfer you at very reasonable rates for a small fee (garybenson.com.au). It was stars endorsed too, so it was a very safe method.

Bump. Lets realise the vision of teh OP - possibly not a mass storm of Sky City, perhaps more like a condensed rain cloud?
