check/call vs check/raise?

I was normally going to check/call but he surprisingly make a huge overbet and thought just to shove it as he might feel pot-committed to the pot and/or he's bluffing with air and was planning to fold vs any action anyway?..

the flop is relatively harmless, so at worst we are up against a straight draw. His range is kinda hard to determine, as it could be any pair below TT, connectors, overcards etc. Might be that he decided to shove/raise with any two on flop oop.

I would prefer check-call here after a good 10 second "thinking". He will have to shove on turn, if he still wants to push you out.

Alternatively, you could min-raise him - this will "almost" price him in to call and see turn. After such a call he would be flop committed and probably call you shove.

Check-raise is a much safer route though as him sucking out to a straight would probably mean that you are busto.

I think a shove is very slightly better cos a check/call looks super strong and he's not likely to barrel given he'll only have about a half pot bet left, plus a shove still gets value from pair of tens or 66-99 and maybe A2, A3, 67 (if he does this spazzy overbet with them which you never really know) that might fold if an overcard arrives.

Hi all,

150 preflop and I like the flop. Sick fold by our opponent. If our opponent makes it smaller we should be check/calling. Once he sizes it as he does though I just don't expect him to ever fold.
